Thank you so much. :) He's a gelding, actually, and my daughter has owned him for 3 1/2 years. He is a SAINT of a pony and we absolutely love him to death. Unfortunately, she has now outgrown him and we recently placed him up for sale. :(

VERY difficult decision....but hopefully he will be able to teach another little girl as he did mine.

everyone that can own a horse or pony is truly lucky, my horse, Fancy, is my best friend and she honestly amazing, i dont do jumping or anything likr that i Barrel race her, and she just got over having Bacterial Hepititis is her liver over the winter and she only had a 25% chance of surving and she pulled through so now just for fun i call her my Fancy, Miss Wonder....

Aww gorgeous pony and the song goes really well! And why does it matter that she uses spurs? Some ponies need them and if they are used correctly then they are not mean.

nice pony but i think its quite sad that a girl of 7 or 8 yrs has been taught to use spurs.i mean apart from the fact that they are just plain mean whats your girl gunna learn? that if it isnt perfect use spurs? we need to stop teachin kiddies like yours to be cruel with artifical aids but encourage the m ore natural way.

i dont thnk that is necesarily true. yeah she is young and she uses spurs, so what? i started using spurs when i was 5. srpurs arent bad if you use them the right way as an encouragement instead of a force. i used them on the horse i ride and you get along better with him if you do than rather you dont.

I think it's true kids should learn not to use spurs other wise you become dependant on them but they can be quite useful. If you use blunt, plain ones on a lazy pony it can be helpful, and not cruel. As long as they are not too sharp and you don't use them too hard they are not cruel. I used to use spurs to get my pony going and now I don't need them! :D

I totally agree with you. I think only more experienced riders shoul use them, and as you say, on lazy horses/ponies. They can become quite dangerous, i used to use them on my hrose cuase she wouldnt go forward, now i dont need them. And i if try them, she gets dangerous. lol.

I ride with spurs on every horse I ride..But there only there as a reinforcement. I dont just hit the horse..I only have bumpers too...but sometimes you need to use them..

You obviously don't know much about spurs, then. They are not mean and they do not hurt the pony in any way, especially when taught to use them properly. FYI, the reason she has spurs is that he can be a little on the lazy side at times and her leg was too little and not developed enough to keep him moving forward. In fact, she doesn't ride with spurs at all any more because her leg has developed to the point where she doesn't need to. Please educate yourself.

@Graceandponies well you can get tickle spurs or spike spurs. If she is just using tickle spurs i think the horse will be fine it just tickles him until he moves faster.

I think you may be referring to the leg garters?  They are just used for showing, supposedly to hold jods from riding up, but really more of a "decoration".
