  • I love when they jump in the water!

  • Springers in water. They love it.

  • I understand that you can't dock the tails but they do look much better with them docked. It also keeps them from getting bristles and thorns caught in them which are very painful to the dogs. The first time my springer jumped in the pool he sank to the bottom! lol

  • a spaniel that doesn't like to swim?! unheard of

  • i miss my maggie :(

  • She can swim just yelp and struggle!

  • My springer also kept her tail, its cruel to cut them off, like us getting a finger chopped off when we are born.

  • lol lol

  • Yeah it is a criminal offence to dock dogs now in England. Thank goodness as it is disfiguring and cruel.

  • Best dogs ever!! I loved my Louis (1995-2007) and I Miss him !! Best dogs for children too. He loved water!!!! He used to sit in the rain and enjoy with a huge smile on his face!!!

  • FINALLY!!!! I find a video with a springer without a docked tail!!

  • Is your other one scared of the water?

How do they get out, climb out or do you help them out?

  • Our springer is not inclined to swim but she does bark and bark and bark and bark and bark at bugs in our pool until we go over to retrieve them for her. its rather cute. Her brother on the other hand (owned by a family friend) makes a b-line to our pool everytime he visits.

  • lol swedes :D

  • well, they are DEFINITELY ALL crazy about water!! I'd say they'd be great with kidsmind your kids or yourself being covered in wet mud on a regular basis!! Seriously,it's even more fun than it looks like!! GOD I miss my Springer---Charley Good 1977-1990 RIP, GOOD BOY

  • i am looking to buy my kids aged 4 and 7 a puppy would you reccomend a springer as i really like them?

  • Sure, just make that their ancestors liked children. I'd say all springers are safe with kids, but not everyone of them _like_ kids.

  • springers are great dogs, i got mine when i was 5 years old and hes been my best friend for a very long time, hes 12 now but he still has his energy spurts

  • absolutely.

I work at a Petsmart store and I recommend them all the time.

I'd rank them #1 followed by (maybe even tied with) golden retrievers.

Saint Bernards are amazing dogs too, if you can handle them.

  • get a springer they are great

  • I would say get a male springer. Females tend to be a more bit rambunctious and springy which would not be good for 4 year old.

  • Gotta love our springers. I also have a lab who is the same way in the water..

  • I truely have never seen a springer with a full tail.

    they are beautiful.

    and loving.

About the only living things in this world I love the most.

    lol.

I have 4 and also breed.

  • interesting. in Hungary that's the standard, and i think they are beautiful with their flag :)

  • mine does i need to post a video about him

  • show dogs have an almost completely docked tail, field dogs have half tail.

I don't see why they can't have a full tail...

  • In many countries they do as docking is now illegal in various places. Even in Britain, only the working dogs may be docked there now, not the show ones :)

  • I dont mind tail docking really :) it gives the dog a more cleaner more nobal look. I like it a little better then just letting the tail be.

  • A springer is the best dog in the whole world.

  • i think so :)

  • a lot of things can irritate the coat on a day to day basis, but if dealt with correctly are fine.

  • Nice to see the tail has not been docked. They are having a great time and happy

  • Thanks mangomaxxx, in Sweden we have a law against cutting the tail.

Since last input from me we have been out hunting-tracking with Emmy who is swimming in the movie, outstanding dog!!!

  • Do dogs pee in the water like their human friends do if they can't be bothered in getting out?

  • Springer spaniels are great dogs, and I agree they love to play in water, though as ours have grown older, we try to keep an eye on them through most of their play time. This breed can "play" until their paws hurt, and swim until they're shagged out.

  • Not a problem. Poppy goes crazy over water she loves it so much. I have a couple of videos of my dogs swimming in the pool round my friends whilst it was broken. They love it and as soon as the pool is fixed they will be swimming in fresh clean heated water. Poppy is a hyperactive springer and never relaxes. Her having a swimming wears her out so she doesnt shadow spot in the evenings.

  • classicminichealsea, thanks for the support!

google107, how do you train your own dog? Sitting in your knee and licking your face?

Please visit our website where can see how our 3 spaniels suffer springerspaniel dot se , i'm sorry but the site does only have swedish typing but you can click around on all the links in the bottom.

  • Its not suffuring. Dogs love to swim. Its good for them especially for rehabilitation. If your particular dog does not like swimming then of course they would avoid the pool. Unlike mine who jump in the pool for a splash can not be classed as suffering when they enjoy it!

  • you people are so mean its suffiring. my english springer spaniel missy would hate a place their

  • does the chemicals in the pool, iratate the dogs skin like the clorine?

  • Not in our pool, we use the saltwaterchlorinator.
