It's great to see Simon sing his harmony part as he probably did during the original recording of this song while having Chris Corner sing the melody. I've learned through reading that Simon is a master at harmonizing with himself on the Duran Duran recordings. I think that this collaboration is certainly well done!
I love this version. I love how it is slow and sounds darker and more depraved than the original. The Duran Duran version is all nice and polished and pretty. This is gritty and dirty and sort of makes me feel like I want to shower, but it leaves me satisfied and with no regrets. It's like a hot musical tryst in a seedy motel room.
At.4.45 Someone just stood up blocking the view of Corner and it made me mad enough to wanna jump from my computer screen to smack his head . That moment I realised that how much I am addicted to this VDO. ...LOL....

Duran Duran was my first favorite band. the Chauffer remains one of my favorite songs EVER, Sneaker Pimps/Chris Corner/IAMX is one of my favorite new artists. This version and these two kick ass. Two very different versions, both awesome.

Just a comment on all of the people speculating about Simon being drunk or sedated. I've seen him @ times when he gets in this really quiet serene mood and he does get quiet. He has not been drunk or anything during those times. That is not to say it is not possible here, but it does not mean he IS drunk or sedated either. He is sometimes just in a sort of zone. Since this is not a DD show where he would be all pumped up to perform a whole show, he simply may have been feeling chill.
I was about 14yrs old when Duran Duran were "massive", and because I wasn't a girl, (and therefore didn't fancy Simon LeBon), thought they were cr*p. Now that I'm old and grey I can finally admit that I actually quite liked them. Three tracks always stood out: Planet Earth, Save A Prayer and this one, The Chauffeur. This is by far the best version that I've heard. Is it on an album somewhere?
Being my favorite cover of this song I have watched this video many times. The More I watch it the more I get the impression that Simon is not 100% happy about this performance. Maybe its the atmosphere of the moment, but he also seems wasted.

Just a comment on all of the people speculating about Simon being drunk or sedated. I've seen him @ times when he gets in this really quiet serene mood and he does get quiet. He has not been drunk or anything during those times. That is not to say it is not possible here, but it does not mean he IS drunk or sedated either. He is sometimes just in a sort of zone. Since this is not a DD show where he would be all pumped up to perform a whole show, he simply may have been feeling chill.

Although it doesn't "rock the fuck out" like the Deftones version this is still my favorite. (even though Simon is clearly half-assing it)

I was about 14yrs old when Duran Duran were "massive", and because I wasn't a girl, (and therefore didn't fancy Simon LeBon), thought they were cr*p. Now that I'm old and grey I can finally admit that I actually quite liked them. Three tracks always stood out: Planet Earth, Save A Prayer and this one, The Chauffeur. This is by far the best version that I've heard. Is it on an album somewhere?

Being my favorite cover of this song I have watched this video many times. The More I watch it the more I get the impression that Simon is not 100% happy about this performance. Maybe its the atmosphere of the moment, but he also seems wasted.
