im not impressed by the C5's times on a 100 shot.  My 2.73 geared, stock stall'd bolt on c5 went 11.91@116 on a 1.80 60'. and then 11.41@118.98mph 1.60 60' with a 3400 converter.

The Zed is a high 13 second car not 14, an average STOCK Zed runs 13.8 and that's the older modles like my 2004, 6spd not the auto's. And the whole 3.5L v6 (Zed) vs 5.7L v8 (Vette) well Nissan has that reputation to create wonders for instance that was the same situation for the 370z (3.6L, v6) producing more HP than the GT's (4.6L, v8)...Nissan pretty good with their cars, could you imagine if these Z's or GTR's were available with the option of a v8 engine...woot!

Number 1 the 2007-08 350z HR runs quarter miles in 13.5 seconds the old DE 2003-2006 350z run 13.8-14.0 quarter miles. I have never in my LIFE heard of a HR 350z ever touching 14 secondf quarter miles all are mid 13 second quarter timings. In my 2008 350z i pulled 13.4 just a couple weeks ago with trap speed of 105.6 MPH. Get the facts and the year straight that's like calling an EVO or STI a 14 second car. LOL right. Okay i admit most of the 350z on the road are DE models, I barely see any HR 350z or 370z but still let us talk about TODAY. A couple days ago i beat a MERCEDES AMG does that mean it's slow? It's sounds like you're desperately trying to justify your investment... The 350z has a stigma that developed when the car came out. By 2007, public interest was low and not many people had their eyes on developments of the 350z. You're gonna have to deal with it... most people regard these as 14 second cars. Who knows, it might work in your favor from time to time.

You missed the point. You rarely ever see 07-08 350z's at the track. There aren't very many of them. There were under 30,000 350z's built in 2007 and 2008 combined. You telling me to go read motor trend to see how quick the 2007 350z is will not erase what I've personally seen. Honda S2000 weighs 2,800 lbs, Mazda Rx8 weighs 3,000 lbs (fully loaded!), your car weighs 3,400 pounds. THAT is why it's not running 12's, and is why the older 350z's struggle to stay in the 13's consistently.

lol... yeah you could put twin turbos on your stock 350z... but you couldn't run more than 8 pounds of boost without busting a connecting rod. A GOOD turbo setup would need to include a built motor... at the end of the day with all the work it would probably be close to ten grand.

You can find a used Evo for under $20k. Its an infinitely better car than the 350z. It's got way more potential. 350z's aren't worth a damn right now because nobody wants them. Don't hold that against the Evo.

I used to own an EVO cost me 33 grand back when i bought it in 2006. I have driven those cars, i know how they feel. No one is talking shyt about the EVO. Without supporting mods a turbo 350z would be unreliable, and wouldn't anywhere make near the power it potentially could.

Which brings me to why the evo is better. It's built to hold boost from the factory... Not just the engine, but to a larger extent, the whole drivetrain. It's a platform you can easily and cheaply build on, much like the 03-04 Cobra, LS1 f-bodies and Neon SRT-4. 350z's require lots of time and money to be serious performers.

Why you hatin on the 350z? Yeah to mod it is expensive but stockm performs in mid 13 seconds especially the 2007, 2008 models. If people can't afford money to modify their cars than maybe they should quit modifications. Yes, if you put a turbo kit on a stock 350z, it would be unreliable. The engine is high compression, and the internals aren't forged. It's not an ideal turbo setup by any means.

Forced induction means cheap power upgrades. It's a long way to the top with n/a (except for cars with a large heads/cam aftermarket.. the 350z is definitely NOT in this category). I would take a turbo 4 over an n/a v6 any day!

If 350z's were running 11's stock, mods would be less of an issue.

Since the 1960's, the idea has been to buy a cheap, modestly fast car, and make it rival cars you could never afford, at least in strait line performance. If the 350z was turbo from the factory it would have been a blockbuster for the same reason Supra turbo's are so sought after today. The Neon SRT-4 wasn't popular because of its looks or stock performance. I'll leave it at that.

When the 350z came out, you couldn't even buy a skyline in north america! For five years the 350z was nissans top of the line sports car in the USA.

It's not like a turbo setup would have added much to the cost of manufacturing the car. they could have charged $40k+ for it and I'm certain many, many people would have paid it, and it would be regarded as a bargain. Instead, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Ford and Chrysler dominated the mid 2000s because they were shipping cheap cars with forced induction.

13.5~13.7 is about average for the 2007, since they put the HR version of the motor in. Cool ambient temps with warm tires could probably get a bit lower than that.

i mean c5 has what 345 to 350 hp and a z has 307 hp which a z is a v6 with 3.5 L and a c5 is a v8 with 5.7 L dame not far away from it with power, they weight like the same, 3200-3300 , and Z's are cheaper so wow that nitros c5 did not kill the z by that much but so imagine stock vs stock ,c5 would beat it by a little but cheaper car 2 less cylinders, and lots more liters less then it close hp and weight i stick to my z, until the 370 z or the gtr comes available here LoL
