  • and thus, neurofunk was born.

  • Stone the Freakin Crows pass the Aspirin bottle, please.

  • Wow, that was wild. More exciting than anything the rock world has to offer in my opinion....Does anybody know what taking the top off a Rhodes does? Jan Hammer did it too. I've got a Rhodes, and I don't notice the difference. Maybe it depends on how loud you're playing, I dunno.

  • This has absolutely nothing to do with Kenny G

  • Part of my favourite Miles period. F*cking cool, pardon the obscenity. I can't believe I just read Kenny G's name on the same page as Miles Davis.

  • Gary Bartz on sax.

  • Monster Mannn Miles

  • frenchy shut up

  • shut up frenchy

  • YET ANOTHER MASTERPIECE---IS THIS BUYABLE AS A WHOLE CONCERT?

THX FOR BETTERING THIFS BLEAK LAND....

  • video fail at the end

  • Thank god the Frogs have fiqured it ALL OUT>

  • Thank god the frogs fiigured it all out.

  • beginning of progressive rock and jazz fusion. some of this early stuff reminds me of king crimson, my favorite progressive rock group.

  • This is sort of like the afterbirth of the cool, man.

  • nice comment! it really has the "birth of the cool" feel.

  • You're absolutely right. It is actually a jazz version of 20th Century classical music as Miles himself admitted. If you listen to the whole song from the beginning to the end you'll find that there is a melody and a clearly defined structure, unfortunately that part of the performance is not shown in this clip. Just look at Keith Jarrett and you'll see all possible human suffering you can think of. Hope this helps.

  • @SebastienLoong don't judge miles electric by this clip. forget the ballads and buy "black beauty." it's spontaneous but harmonious at the same time...

something very often attempted in jazz but VERY rarely acheived

  • @ajdicks

Black Beauty isn't one fifth as good as Dark Magus.

  • Yeah. I can understand you: Just check out "Kind Of Blue" for the beginning. Or "Birth Of The Cool"

  • leon "ndugu" chancler was later the drummer for santana in the mid 70's

  • michael henderson at ronnie scotts sep 21-23 09 miles electric band

  • Quelle merde ! De qui se moque-t'on ?

  • some call him avant garde for me miles is cutting edge..defying the rules at that this time, he has pissed alot of jazz cats since he used the whah effects on his trumpet...hes like a rebel..he likes to evolve in the shortest time possible

  • Love it, but why did they dress up like an amdram pantomime.

  • death to kenny g

  • He did some pretty reasonable stuff with Jeff Lorber Fusion.

  • @HammondB200 If by reasonable, you mean the same bullshit with real musicians, then you're right.

  • @HammondB200 that's a more mature response than Pat Metheny gave in his interview. Whether you like his playing or not (I don't personally like it) Kenny G has to be doing something right other than marketing to get that many listeners.

  • @HammondB200 : Now there's a glowing compliment...

  • @HammondB200 True

  • Fender Contempo, read the description

  • crazy

  • the "trunpet god john coltrane"??? what are you smoking?

  • Someone probably commented about this but Jack DeJohnette wasn't in Miles' band at this point (he formed his own band in late '71 I think). Don Alias and Mtume were on congas/percussion. Ndugu played drums.

Thanks for this footage. "beautyisararething" had more of the show but the videos were removed.

  • miles tone is fine but john coltrane never hooked his horn up to a pedal before. i have and its not easy to find the good intervals or do slick runs when u use it jackass

  • Anyone know what the red keyboard is?

  • Fender Contempo, read the description

  • 2nd percussion must be Leon 'Ndugu' Chancler

  • obvious troll is obvious

  • Yeah, or the other trumpet legends, Canonball Adderley, Jon Scofield and of course, the legendary Annie Ross.

  • dude sorry to correct you but Adderlay is an alto saxophonist, Scofield is Guitarist & Ross is a vocalist, correct they all jazz cats but definitely NOT trumpet legends.

  • I know dude....I was sarcastically commenting on an odd comment about "trumpet god John Coltrane". Cheers!

  • ur an idiot....trumpet god John Coltrane

only comment if u kno wat ur talkin bout

  • and amazing conga player chick corea ^_^

  • Who is that freaking idiot talking in the background?

  • I believe this was from some French documentary

  • freakin talking man

  • Keith Jarrets movements look spastic. HAHA

G'head, gimme thumbs down, but its TRUE!

  • It certainly is. I love what Miles said after he left the band "man, you hear Keith now, and he's lost it"

  • Don Alias is the 2nd percussionist. Anyway, does anyone know the origins of this clip because there is a small section of it on the Miles Electric DVD and it sounds superb...

  • Ndugu did play with Miles during this period and was fired for missing a gig. I think I read this in the 'Live/Evil' CD booklet.

  • Actually, it IS Ndugu Chancellor on the drums. There's other clips of this same concert were you can see him. Jack was gone by this time.

  • it has to be jack.

  • Wrong. Its Leon Ndugu Chancler.

  • I play trombone and I use a Vox wah-wah too... it's a great moment of fun !

  • Holy shit that's funky

  • Thanks for the post. Difficult to see the other players but the bass player is definitely Michael Henderson, Gary Bartz is on Alto Saxophone. Can't see the drummer. The Percussionist might be James 'Mtume' Forman. Hope that helps.

  • hard to believe nobody has said anything after 803 views! what a trip! sorry i canT help with info on the credits but we all know who Miles and KJ are. thank you for the super posts. ~eLi G.
