@MrBw1982 riffraff and cleo actually did cheer on heathcliff in one of the episodes, but they never met. also, riffraff's gang appeared, but without riffraff and cleo.
Notice how some of the animation here in the credits reflects some of the production process. Heathcliff on the typewriter is a nod to the writers, the sketch out of trash can is a nod to the character designers, the trailer-cum-convertible shows how production is important to the proper story and distribution; the microphone/script is a nod to the voice actors, the trash cans as drums is to the musicians, and Heathcliff out of the hammock to show how grueling an executive producer's job is.
I Remember this End Credit, When I was a Young I Missed this On Channel 4 I Just Wake Up on Saturday & Sunday Morning! Back in the 90's I Like Opening Theme was Starter on channel 4 in 1990's.
I think the only chance we ever got to see Heathcliff and Riff Raff in the same scene was at the beginning of the end credits. Would have loved to see a half hour long crossover episode too. Imagine what kind of havoc those two would have wreaked on the neighborhood! Spike would have been a nervous wreck. :)
So did i and it was her with Cheetara and Mr'ress from the Star trek cartoon that i was fascinated with catgirls. Isn't it amazing how back in the 80's and 90's they made sexy feline girls in cartoons? i mean you had Cleo, Cheetara, M'ress, Aishia Clan Clan, April O'Neil as a catgirl from that episode of Turtles (Remember?), Felicia, The Puma Twins, Kit Mambo from Animalympics, and Selina Kyle as an ACTUAL cat-woman from that Batman TAS episode (Remember that?) were all sexy.,
Sounds like Holiday Road from Vacation big time. I grew up with this show when i was 4 26 years ago and i thought Mel Blanc was terrific as the main character, Riff-Raff was a riot and Cleo was such a babe as she probably started the whole fascination on catgirls, The Japanese loves catgirls too. This was a Canadian/US/French/Japanese co-production afterall
Heathcliff & Spike were established comic strip characters and property of one artist. Riff Raff & Cleo were creations of another artist. The wonderful world of Copyright kept these 2 pairs from casting opposite one another in an individual short. Meanwhile, Hector, Wordsworth, and Mungo were original characters made for the cartoon, and thus had no copyright/permission issues, allowing the cartoonists to place them in either short.
0:30 I hate to be that guy who points out 80's movie references, but I'll give y'all a hint: Seriously, am I the only one who thinks Cleo, the female cat wearing the legwarmers, should be the one getting splashed with water?
I loved getting home from grade school in the late 80's and watching this. This was deffinately a weekday cartoon and then you had the Saturday morning cartoons which were great back then too.
Love this cat. That Cleo was a fine Puss. Very classic.

The french theme was copied on that one...exactly the same; except it's in french, of course, and it's female voices instead...I never forgot of this "weee-weeew-weeew" weird sound, at the very very end, as the theme ends... I also remember there was written someting like "DIC" if i remember well (the producing company of these days ??) ... I don't why there isn't here...perhaps it was added to the french theme only...? D'no, just assuming... the good old days anyways...
80's was epic for cartoons, 8 turned 90degress = infinity symbol. Meaning 80's shows and music will be remembered forever. Also meaning we won't have anything near theis epic till the 2080's, if we survive that long. I'm praying every night for the science and money for cybornetic bodies till then.
@jlarral I agree. We are lucky to have grown up with cool music and television shows. Maybe someone will invent a time machine and we can go back one day.
This is from the era when Saturday morning cartoons were worth it. You get up early in the morning and eat cereal in front of the T.V. in your pajama's Damn those were the days.
What happened was that around '86 or '87, all those people went their separate ways after Andy Heyward bought DiC from Jean Chalopin. After all that happened, DiC became entirely an American company, no longer did it span three countries (France, US and Japan). Also, I personally feel that the work from the Heyward-era DiC just wasn't nearly as innovative or interesting as the Chalopin-era DiC. Without Jean Chalopin, DiC just wasn't DiC anymore, he was the real driving force behind the studio.

I noticed the names of Jean Chalopin, Andy Heyward, Lori Crawford, and Bruno Bianchi. These people were the pioneers of all the DiC Cartoons and produced and/or developed some really good cartoons in the '80s such as Heathcliff (seen here), Inspector Gadget, The Littles, Dennis the Menace Cartoon Series, Ghostbusters Cartoon Series(based on the hit movie), and others.
But once most of those people left, DiC was never really the same without them.
Good question... very good question.... the 80's were a goldmine of cartoons and 2 my knowledge they show the smurfs and snorks and the snorks suck...has to be licencing issues which sux also
@sumdude4 True! but I just remembered that WB, CN and boomerang are Aired by TIme Warner. Notice how some (not all) Kids WB/CW Kids cartoons like pokemon are transfered to CN then to boomerang LOL. But I do wish for what you wished for. A REAL Cartoon Network. The reason why we can't watch all of our favorites is because of copyright bull crap.
@STBNY HA! Soooo true. At least CW is airing looney tunes again, but not many thanks to today's culture. Alot of it won't fly with today's thanks to what they consider racial and "tasteless".
Some of them were legitimately racist...others you could argue are bad in other ways, but no worse than anything on today (for slapstick violence or whatever). The racist ones are just a small percentage anyway.
Also, fun story: As a kid, I was banned from watching Looney Toons because my parents thought it was too violent. Specifically because a copied the phrase "I'll murder the bum" from that dog form the Foghorn Leghorn cartoons.
