  • I Lovett! :D :D :D

  • this is helping me learn/memorize words & harmonies. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

  • Sweeney needs more support and Toby needs a whole lotta shit

  • Who were you in the production?

  • I see you at 1:06 xD

  • This Mrs Lovett is great! Very mature voice if she is indeed as young as she appears. Shame about the poor chorus who cant even sing in tune....

  • I thought it was funny how the boys were singing with girls for parts :P

  • how old is lovett? her voice is extraordinary

  • chorus could've been better

  • toby needed to be an octave higher...

  • Toby sounded way too old. D:

  • I love it! I was surprised to see you in costume, but it's still pretty cute :)

  • A very challenging number to construct, especially with a cast of children, with all the harmonies and key changes.

How long did this number take (with musical rehearsals and bolcking)?

The cast is American I guess? (Toby's accent sounds pretty upper-class, but is a very sound attempt)

  • i loveeee it

  • ok?

  • Adorable! Your set looks very similar to the one in '82! I love it. And Lovett is awesome!

  • These actors are FANTASTIC!!!!

  • I really want my school to do this, but they wouldn't do it unless it was a "School version", which is good because they made one recently (I hope they didn't change too much). It's my dream to play toby.

  • Not really. They took out some swearing and the school version has alternate lyrics for the Beggar Woman (Because "How would you like a little kiss" is more appropriate than "How would you like a little muff") and alternate stage directions so that the murders don't have to be done on stage.

  • Very good

there was a lot of chores people made things a little chaotic

    but other then that

amazing for a 7-12 grade show

  • when im a senior we better do this for the musical so i can be mrs lovett! : ]

  • oh how I envy you lol

  • At 3:06, is that Sweeney?

  • the dude that played Toby should have sang it higher... he was like an oct. lower than the actual song.. but other than that, this was very good!

  • it sounded very similar to Ken Jennings to me.

  • I wish my school would do this...

  • Ahhh this is so weird for me! We just did this at my high school. You all did very well... whoah, two years ago? Like us, you realized the importance of a kick-ass ensemble in this show. "Chorus" members too often don't realize their importance, am I right?

Haha, I always accidentally licked my pie. After six shows those things got kind of gross. Oh, and I always had the most awkward freezes, too.=)

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • This is amazingness. For 7th-12th graders this is pretty damn good!

  • if i hav that i want to be mrs.lovett since she is 1 of the lead role with todd and if i hav that play i hope my crush would play todd so in the by the sea and dreaming in the wedding he will give me a small peck

  • That is a school play???

Respect, i´m a professionell singer at a theater in germany and play the anthony in sweeney todd.

so i must say, its very very good your play!!

    great!

  • That was FANTASTIC! 5 stars!

  • Wow!

That was very good for a school play!

The overall look is pretty professional, too.

Congrats, who ever was in it!

    =D

  • They're pretty good, I can't believe they perform a musical like Sweeney Todd.

  • i wish my school would do Sweeney i would like to be Lovett or Lucy/ crazy beggar lady

  • AHHH.

    Your Sweeney was AMAZING!

As was Mrs. Lovette. I've just got a rather large soft spot for the Sweeney; but they where both excellent! ^^

  • Hey, it could have been worse, this was actually the first time i seen a school Play (Suprisingly) to Sweeney Todd... People should be giving these kids more credit, THEY ARE JUST KIDS, Not Professional Singers... Anyways, kudos to them

  • First time I've seen a sweeney todd for a school play. But I think it's considered a bit too violent for a school. Our local theater just did a Sweeney todd with strudents from the two nearest highschool. I was sick though so I couldn't see it D;

  • Mrs. Lovett was the saving grace of this whole thing

  • where was this i mean wow their lucky to even have a good play my school just did dare i say it the sound of music like some info on this youth group

  • girl go play with ur dolls this play was awesome cause if u wanted to do sweeny todd u wont even pull it off

  • r u kiddong? ive done shows b4 and a movie

  • Oh yeah??? What movie?? And what shows??

  • Okay, first of all, a bunch of 5th and 6th graders way better then 7th-12th graders? Wow.. I think not.. Only because I would like to think that 7th-12th graders have more experience than a bunch of 5th/6th graders.. So.. I sorry to tell you this but I'm pretty sure they all performed this better than your cast.. <:/

  • we are 7th graders!!! and we hav dpne sooooo many shows and been in a movie

  • Okay then, name them

  • the Toby is annoying Mrs lovette was great for a non porfessional.

  • WOW

  • Wow, Mrs. Lovett was awesome!

  • Awesome.

  • i hate that toby

  • Really I think he's better then the Hearn version.

The sound quality is off though.

  • My Goodness.

    That was pretty amazing.

Mrs. Lovett was very good. I was impressed!

  • I think I'm hearing something different than you people. Mrs. Lovett was alright but everyone sounded pretty bad. IDK..*gets prepared for poor comment marks*

  • I saw this production and not only was the cast spectacular, the sets were amazing ( the actors had to change sets themselves), the chair worked great and the orchestra was fantastic. Listen to how many instruments, not that many but they sounded huge.

  • mrs. lovett was so good!

  • Wow! I'm impressed. I seriously loved Mrs. Lovett!

  • i know it's just restating but i loved mrs. lovett here

  • Wow, Mrs. Lovett is great. I looked up Musical Theater Company...It looks pretty prestigious. Is it really hard to get in?

  • It must be incredible to be a part of something like this. :]

  • Mrs. Lovett was amazing.

  • *eyes gleam* Can i go to this school? lol

  • Oh, wow!

They're great, especially for that age.

I've always liked that little bit where Mrs. Lovett sings so cheerfully, and she pulled it off very well.

  • Mrs.Lovett=amazing!

  • Wow! This was amazing. Well done, kids!!

  • CUTE! WEE CHITLINS DOIN' TODD! 8D

  • can't believe they would do this show with such a young cast

  • yeah but it's fabulous =D

  • I would love to see that chair in action, do you have the johanna quartet?

  • this is remarkable! I see future Broadway stars

  • Mrs Lovetts voice is fabulous!!!!!!!!!!

  • Mrs.Lovett is amazing!

  • Can you upload "Epiphany" next? Please? That's my favorite song in the entire thing! :D Thanks!

  • The Mrs. Lovett is incredible! Certainly better than Patti LuPone.

  • The Mrs Lovett is amazing !

  • 0.o I'd never think in a million years that a school would allow this to be put on! Nice to see them doing the classics! Very well done!

  • i love this!

  • Hmmmm....written for more mature voices. (Toby's about right, though)

  • are you in this? i saw the original production, the new production, and can't wait for the new movie. EVIL DEPP!

  • this was good. any other videos from this production?

  • there's two other videos in the responses, and I'm going to upload more soon.

  • this is my fav sweeny todd song! thanks for sharing

  • Hearing children's voices sing this play is charming but totally disturbing. Mrs. Lovett is great but Sweeney's pathetic. Also sort of a weird room block. The books drop totally out of view. But I love the ensemble, their expressions are great.

  • Well done. Margery & Sweeney please keep at theatre when high school is behind you. You have very real talent.

    The whole production was amazing!

  • I had to remove some of the videos that were up before, but I'm working on putting them back up. Glad you guys enjoy our production (well, for the most part).

    - abby

  • Who did you play?

  • very well put on!

  • wow very good! lol is it just me or does Sweeney look like Snape from Harry Potter?

  • PERFECT!!! LOVE IT!

  • wow. this looks like an amazing production. is there any other videos?

  • What a toe-tapping little tune! ;)

  • Might have been more enjoyable if the director hadn't ripped off so much of the original production. Tobias could stand to enunciate. Very...well...INCREDIBLY impressive for a youth theatre production! Kudos!!!

  • Wow, those kids did a GREAT job. I've been to quite a number of high school plays, so I know a decent play compare to a bad one. Even more impressive, the kids did ol' Sweeney. Surprised nobody objected to a play about revenge, murder, cannabilism and love. (Yes, the play has that too.) Wonderful job!

  • Any more videos of these kids?

  • Wow, you guys are really talented!!

  • I can imagine the conversation between the producer and the director. "What musical should we have the kids do this year?" "I think we should do Sweeney Todd." "Okay. Middle/High School children portraying murderous, insane barbers. That could work." "Right. I'm on it. You get the orchestra, I'll get the kids rounded up."

  • What's so wrong with that?

  • I mean, I do understand it's bad for their voices considering how this is one of Sondheim's

    most operatic works...

  • great video and I've rated it as five stars. Please check out mine on some old 1920's trading cards of Sweeney Todd, pirates, highwaymen and outlaws.

  • Mrs. Lovett did a great job. She has a beautiful timbre to her voice. But she doesn't make it super sweet, which is good. The whole production is very good; I'm surprised to see kids doing this, I'd think it would be too controversial. Not to mention difficult to stage.

  • hey, give us a break! this show was way better than this video makes it look.

besides, there were 7th graders in this cast... you should give them some props.

  • these kids are great,so tallented.

  • Ya the issue here is that sondheim wrote the role of sweeney todd to be the hardest baritone part...ever...

really its in the best interest of the kids to not do this show. you can do vocal damage by performing stuff like this at such a young age. its actually a really ridiculous choice. the kids did the best they could with it but i feel bad that had to even try

  • Psh, I am done with elitism. Surely these kids may not have performed this the best it's ever been performed, but it's good nonetheless. Also, young performers have to start somewhere, so why not learn with the hard stuff? It's like learning to drive with a stick-shift, yeah?

  • im not really that familiar with the play bu ti wish i was! this is a great song and everyone did a great job!

  • I hate it when either

Actors Mimic other actors doing their role

    or

producers mimic past presentations of hte show.

  • agreed, the voices sound WAY to young for this. there's no stength in the baritone and bass parts. and the sweeney is singing too much from his throat, not as much nasal resonation.

and it's Herbs, with an "H"!!

I do realize it is a youth production, but they didn't have to choose an operatic musial.

  • Not if you're in england dumbass, it's called an accent.

  • Then how come Helena Bonham sang herbs like 'erbs?

  • ask her that.

  • Likely because the Cockney accent shortens a lot of words that proper English doesn't.

  • Some of Sondheim's most difficult choral music and as though the music isn't hard enough--the lyrics: "...God that's good that is de- have you -licious ever tasted smell such oh my god what perfect more pies God such flavor God that's good!" The lyric is confusing enough, yet Sondheim splits the word "delicious" and sticks "have you" after the first syllable!!!

Y'all handled it like pros. BRAVO! BRAVA!

  • Incredible Mrs. Lovett for so young! Probably a great future ahead of her. I wasn't hugely impressed by Sweeney but I'm assuming that since he was loud the recording made his voice sound too harsh, he probably sounded better in person (if slightly off-key at times).

    A+

  • Not bad. But the person casted as Sweeney Todd really took away from the performance.

  • this was on jerset girl

  • hey me too

  • Do you have Kiss Me? I would love to hear it.

  • aw what happened to Toby's cockney accent? but your Lovette was really good:)

  • i saw this song on jersy girl

  • That Mrs. Lovette sounds like Angela Lansbury... odd. she is good though. Amazingly high calibur for a high school production.

  • I hella saw this. :D on the sunday 3pm showing. .this is like my favorite song. ^_^

  • awsome Mrs. Lovette. The Toby wasn't good in the beginning but he was good as the song went on. I hate the Sweeney. Still, that Mrs. Lovette is amazing.

  • Wow, definately good for a Youth Musical Theater Company! Most high school and even college productions are really really bad, so I wasnt expecting much from this video, but it's actually pretty good! Nice job!
