You're placing yourself at more risk by leaving because the building envelope (glass, brick, etc.) is not designed to withstand earthquakes as well as the main structure.... just an FYI

Because in an earthquake you don't know how big it will be and how long it will last. Think about this what is going to fall on you where you are? If you around high buildings get to the center of the street, glass is going to fall down next to buildings.. I grew up in CA, been in several large ones, scary and I'm not going to stay in a building or a stupid door frame. Seriously a door frame if you have to, but if that house is going down, seen any door frames still standing afterwards?

Oh yeah, I think your supposed to stand in a door way but if you have a small house it's better to get out of the house. When in a shopping mall they make all the people go down the stairs & outside but it really depends on what's outside, if plate glass windows are falling to the street that's not good. I think you just have to play it by ear & decide is it safer in a collapsing building or on the street as cars are speeding & dodging glass windows & bricks.

I believe what the 167 idiots who disliked this clip came here to see was more news footage (but accompanied by shitty music over the video) showing dramatic waves crashing the shore & washing cars & buildings away. But the 70 people who actually liked this footage know that this is the actuality & eerie effect an earthquake has on the surrounding landscape. The riverbank & telegraph lines are the perfect example to highlight that the earth is in fact moving.
