  • lovely song by hillman one of their best

  • original sound of everytime, none can match with the byrds the best group of all time

  • This is all Chris Hillman, his song and singing. One of the best from The Byrds. So many American groups did lousy music as an answer to the British Invasion. This is awesome. It is not a Mersey Beat ripoff but something different. So much better than the Eagles crap. It is a shame that Chris was so young & less assertive because he had loads of talent. About the only thing Crosby could do was harmonize. They should have done a lot more Hillman material. Outstanding song.

  • @NormanStansfield1 I agree the Byrds sound totally original. Influenced by the Beatles, but not trying to copy that Brithish invasion stuff. I think the Byrds lost so much when Gene Clark left the band.

  • ♥ I love♥

  • Meaning this song came out first

  • Maybe I'm weird but I can hear Lucy In The Sky in this. It came out just prior. I'm thinking Lennon would have heard this and maybe was influenced. He wrote that song under pressure. Could have been at least part inspiration for a classic Beatle masterpiece

  • @genericgeorge Lucy In The Sky was recorded March 1, this was released May 22. Sgt. Pepper was released June 1. Don't think John would have heard this before Lucy was recorded. Great song.

  • reminds me of twist and shout!

  • bobksf download real player. It is a free download. when you click on a vidio it wiil have a pop up come up that says download this vidio. click yes after it is downloaded you will have the option to convert it to mp3 only. you have just the audio portion of the vidio.

  • How on earth can I get copies of these audio files? They're incredible!

  • "younger than yesterday" is an atypical Byrds' album....maybe the best...maybe don't....it's full of sadness and melancholy....but also full of charming .....

  • Very nice, nothing compares to the 60s and 70s.

  • epic solo!!!!

  • A quirky song this one. Not great lead by Mcguinn either, in an age when the guitarist was metamorphsising courtesy of Beck, Clapton, Hendrix, Green, etc. Still, it's got a charm about it that I like, and Mcgiuinn was always a folk picker. One of my fave songs of theirs behind Feel a whole lot better.

  • Why the song's title doesn't appear in the cover? This is a mistery...

  • No matter how many times I play this tune I never get tired of hearing it. It absolutely mesmerizes me. It has a hypnotic effect on me.

  • interesting comments about this songs guitar sound. wasn't this one of Clarence White's first on record appearances with The Byrds? Sure sounds like his signature Telecaster sound.

  • I absolutely love this song. Shamefully not as well known as other Byrds' classics. It is well documented that The Beatles, at one point, stated that the Byrds were their favorite U.S. band. The Byrds were the inspiration behind the Beatles decision to go in an acoustic direction with Rubber Soul.

  • I killer Byrds song that I had forgotten. Thank you so much for posting this and the other Byrds songs that I love so much. This song so stands out as a classic Byrds gem. Wonder is anyone in this sick American Idol era has even heard of The Byrds? Thanks for keep their music alive ~ I'm enjoying The Byrds music from your channel. ~ All the best!

  • The instrumentalion sounds just like th Beatles ..... IMHO

  • the vocals were so superb

  • Chris Hillman wrote this song. Is he singing the lead? It sounds like it.

  • @Franzko787 It's Crosby's harmony we hear alot of the time but it gets to 'You'll find her locked in her spell' before Crosby comes in, you know it's Chris. Funnily enough, McGuinn and Crosby sang the song at Monterey Pop.

  • @tfmuch Thanks. It is a shame Crosby was such a wanker. The rest of the band seemed like good guys including young Chris. I think Rog & Chris raced up to Hollywood Hills in their Jags to fire Crosby after his lecturing the crowd at Monterey about the war etc. There is a time & a place. I think this is one of their best songs. Most of the Calif bands sucked except Byrds & B Boys. This almost sounds like a Calif Mersey Beat sound. It is a shame young Chris did not write more songs. This is great

  • @tfmuch Not true - Crosby sings high harmony on the entire song, with Hillman.

  • @PC3900 Yes, amazing. What was I thinking about?

  • @tfmuch Listen to the terrible Monterey Pop Festival version, where Hillman didn't sing at all, and Crosby and McGuinn sang together without harmony. It kills the song's magic.

  • @PC3900 I try to be positive about that performance. McGuinn did. It's inteesting that they even tried. I often wonder why Hillman didn't sing. He suffered from shyness early on

  • The"younger than yesterday" album will be classed as a great album one day

    A

  • @captainsoul1953 I've always classified it as a great album.

  • thanks,thanks,thanks.

  • I saw a group of High School kids who were putting on a '60's theme dance to this. With the tie- dyed shirts , bell bottom jeans and peace medallions; what a kick!

  • Forgot about how I love this song.. =)

  • Roger used Crosbys six string to get that great corkscrew sound...a very eclectic album

    jim

  • another byrds classic. love the guitar, as usual in this tune.

  • This is one of my all time fav Byrds songs.

I think it is really interesting to not hear that trademark 12 string richenbackser jingle jangle sound though.

Although I guess the jingle jangle sound wouldnt really of suted this song.

  • @mrtamberineman123 I play guitar and could visualize it...it would work. Great song no matter what.
