How do you get your layer toolbox to open, on my gif window it just shows layers as part of the gif, not as a separate window.

Tips for gifs!

1, when yyou save as .gif the first dialog box that appears says FLATTEN IMAGE or SAVE AS ANIMATION, well, you want to save as animation obviously.

2, you can change the frame rate in the 3rd dialog box which says "frame rate between layers" best to go 250-500.

I save it with 50 ms delays, and it play great in playback, but it's still slow (like 100 ms delays) when I play it in my pictures browser or upload it to the Internet. How do I fix that so it runs at the speed I select?

@Anden026 Maybe it's cause you're oh-so used to photoshop and never bothered to work out what gimp does. gimp is just like photoshop, except it's free, and yes it has less tools and less features, but it works the same.

If it doesn't work on tumblr then cut down some layers, mine work fine. I was wondering, I know how to get two images and make then imto a gif (they just jump back and forth) but from that point I don't know how to edit them (like add an effect such as it fading between the two?)

It's not showing the changes I make as I make them in the main window, only on the little thumbnails in the 'Layers' box off to the right.

Also, when I go to playback the window is way to big for my screen and I don't have the option to resize it.

Andddd the speed won't change.

@DearKelsSincerelyUs It sounds like It's a software issue or possibly graphics card, have you tried reinstalling or updating, and as for the playback window, that probably intertwines with the original problem.

@evalol102 I use both and my gifs upload. it doesn't recognize .xcf i'm pretty sure nothing does. (btw .xcf is what you want when you have to save something unfinished in GIMP so you can continue it) so you should save your animations as ".gif"

@sweeneysgirl324 After you title what you want to call your animation thing, another saving window pops up and you have to click on Save as Animation.It originally has Merge Visible Layers checked for you.So change it to Save as Animation. :)

@sweeneysgirl324 i was having problem with this also but now i figured it out. i push save as, then when it shows you what title you want to name it, push the file type (by extension), then push gif image. Push save then another thing will pop up that it should be exported. Instead of "merge visible layers" put save as animation. press export and then save. i hope that helps.

all of the frames in my animation are stacking on top of each other. how do I fix that? I was trying to make a walking animation.

i set the frame rate of my gif to 25ms, but when i save it to my computer it only goes around 200ms.

i saved it as a .gif, checked off "save as animation" and "convert to Indexed using defualt settings". "interlaced" boxed was unchecked, "gif commment" and "loop forever" was checked, "delay where unspecified" was 25ms, "frame disposal where unspecified" was "i dont care", and for space reasons il just say the 2 boxes underneath that were also unchecked. so why is this??

@kazukiyuudai It must be in .gif format, Click File>Save As> and instead of jpg or png, etc, you use gif for the little extension, or you can select from many that it list
