  • @magiczenbelly, thanks for the response, I don't know anybody that has had the surgery, but I have been doing my homework and have seen a lot of these YouTube videos, I am going to talk to surgen they said they'll call me in a week or so...I might just tell them I know a guy who had it, lol ....once I get my appointment I'm going to take down notes and really get into it.....thanxs for the respond.....

  • I wish you well and express solidarity as I too have had the same operation. All the best.

  • @Ancupola Thanks Ancuploa, things are going great! It's been one year and I couldn't be happier. No regrets and I'm enjoying life. Hope things are going well for you. take care Jeremy

  • How did u qualify for the jpouch, I've had UC for 9 yrs and its just getting worse...I ask doc to send me to a doc that does jpouch surgery, and he said with a somewhat disappointing tone,"I have no problem sending u to him but he's not gonna give u the surgery"...every time I bring up jpouch they seem to automatically frown upon it....any details on what u talked to the sergon about would be helpful, thanx......

  • @ruben1nebur I had basically tried most of the medications available with no luck. The only thing that was working was the prednisone, but I knew if I kept taking the high doses it would cause me lots of problems.I told my doctor that I have a friend who had the surgery and is very happy to have his life back and I think this might be a great option for me. He agreed to have me talk to a surgeon. I talked to surgeon and he agreed I would make a great candidate for the surgery. see more below

  • @ruben1nebur I think It was mainly because I knew someone who had the surgery and knew what I was getting into that they were cool with it. I basically knew most of the answer and didn't have to many questions going into the surgery. They knew I had did my homework. If you have more questions feel free to send me a private message and I'll answer anything. thanks jeremy

  • @ruben1nebur If a colonoscopy shows signs of dysplasia (the precursor to cancer) in more than one area, at that point they may reccomend surgery.

  • @ruben1nebur i have a j pouch and it was the worse idea i have ever had.the doctors tell u that u can eat anything.thats bullshit.said u can drink that was bullshit cause u shit ur self at night.the pains i get are worst then uc flares.they told me i wouldnt have to take any meds thats was bullshit.ya theres 1 good thing i dont shit blood anymore but i shit about 10 day and 3 times at night.so there r some bad that goes with a j pouch and that the part that noone tells u.

  • Hey Hercnh,

Yes, I did get dehydrated the first week I went home and had to go back and get rehydrated with an IV. Part of my problem was a nurse told me to only take small sips of water, so that it wouldn't go straight to the ostomy bag. My surgeon said that it was fine to drink water normal.

One thing I did was to eat something like rice or stovetop stuffing and let it sit in my stomach for a 1/2 hour and then drink. This way the water has something to soak into. It gets better every week.

  • Did u have any dehydration problems after j-pouch surgery? If yes what helped?

  • atleast you got shaved i was very mad when i heard they didnt shave me at all and you did way better then me

  • You are not to take ibeprofen or aspirin when u have Crohns or colitis, it will cause a flare, or make your flare worse... Tylenol is the only OC pain med you should be taking. However, if that isn't enough, you can discuss something like vicodin or percocet for pain. I had UC and at my worst I was taking percocet with fentanyl patches for pain on a regular basis. I warn you, drugs as strong as fentanyl will make u very nauseated at first. But please see your doctor if you're pain is not under

  • I just recently got diagnosed with colitis and I was wondering what you did about the pain because I have been having pain and I just finished my first set of antibiotics cipro 500mg and fagyil 200mg and I've tried ibuprofen 800mg and that hasn't been working any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks David

  • you're looking better than I did on day 1! That tube was nasty when they put it in me.
