She's not saying "being sexy" should be mandatory or on the main chart, she's saying, "there's nothing wrong with it" and it's counted for as "an ingredient," not a "recipe." As for her videos and performances...undoubtably, it's contradicting her speech here, but what can she/you do? It's the music industry. Regardless of the 'back stage efforts,' what's being flashed on top bar all over a music video/performance is the sex appeal. Works for Beyonce; talented, but her body is her emphasis.

well.... i don't agree at all with a bunch of what she's saying. telling woman it's ok to be THAT revealing with their bodies is actually degrading them, cause men will look at a pretty woman for the wrong reasons. i'd rather fall in love with someone who loves me for my inward beauty rather than my outward appearence. (although outward beauty is nice, i don't think it should be the main thing. that's what she's saying here too i suppose, but her video totally contradicts it.)

@IMagicNation11 Have you sold 50+ million albums recently? You may claim to be a belly dancer, but Shakira is a much more complex package. She's a melding of a singer, songwriter, lyricists, producer, dancer, and instrumentalist.

She has the IT factor, the combination of talents and qualities that make her a star.

So critique her belly dancing all you want. At the end of the day, she's selling out concerts in the thousands to people who want to see exactly what she offers.

@IMagicNation11 translate the song "inevitable", "antes de las seis" or "sale el sol" and you'll find tons there. english songs are generally connotative, and i feel her spanish songs are much deeper and meaningful. plus, she hasn't done any racy photoshoots. look at other celebrities and compare. plus, she's been around for what like 15-20 years and worked the whole time.
