I feel it's a bit like the theory that Terry Pratchett puts out in his book Hogfather. He postulates that belief is a very powerful force on the planet, more powerful than any government. It is simply because belief is the food of gods. Without belief, a god ceases to exist or dies. Although I do love how it's an eye opening study of man, warts and all, from another perspective entirely. From a bird's- eye- view, as it were.
I'm an agnostic leaning towards atheism, and loved this. I quite like the idea of a fallible, imperfect yet still just god. A god that just guides and doesn't control. It's quite nice.
Thinking for myself (as these guys commanded me to do in one of their songs) I am going to go out on a limp and disagree with a part of the song: "it was you who invented money" is thrown in with other bad stuff like wars and bombs but I don't believe it fits. Money is simply a tool of exchange, it makes it easier to trade things and this can help everyone. In the same way the "God" here created the world but it wasn't their fault what we did with it--money is useful, but violence to getit isnot

Well the guy clearly isn't an idiot but he should probably realise that god most likely doesn't exist. That said, if everyone in the world shared his beliefs it would be a better place, so it really doesn't bother me if he wants to think there's a magic guy look down on him.

@hockey91ninjawarrior this 'cat' is totally capable of backing up his beliefs. I'm atheist/agnostic so I think some descriptions of god are possible. My main frustration with religion is the idea of faith rather than the actual concept of god (although the literal god of the bible is a joke). It therefore falls upon theists to present evidence as to why they should be so certain their god exists, or how they can be so sure of his every attribute. Not believing in god is the neutral position.

You're quick to jump on anyone who believes in god; but you strike me as the type of cat who really wouldn't have anything to back up his non belief in an almighty being. This to me doesn't prove or disprove his belief in the super natural; it merely shines a light on the poison man has done to themselves either by free will or under the name of "god."

@hockey91ninjawarrior this 'cat' is totally capable of backing up his beliefs. I'm atheist/agnostic so I think some descriptions of god are possible. My main frustration with religion is the idea of faith rather than the actual concept of god (although the literal god of the bible is a joke). It therefore falls upon theists to present evidence as to why they should be so certain their god exists, or how they can be so sure of his every attribute. Not believing in god is the neutral position.

@hockey91ninjawarrior you hinted strongly that you were a theist. My point is that I do not initially require reasons to back my self up. The theist is the believer, I am the neutral disbeliever. Therefore the theist must provide evidence as to why I should believe in god. After that I can happily give reasons for my disbelief. However I tried to explain before, disproving the literal god of the bible is an easy task, whereas disproving a conscious creator of the universe is not possible (IMO).

This song doesnt apply as much to me but the summary is incorrect. It is most definitely targeting religon. Great song regardless.
