@intromix Yeah, they only deal with new stuff. Look up some Apple Authorized Resellers in your area... they can fix your Mac with no bullshit. Also, I've dealt with OWC (Other World Computing) online for years.. they have all sorts of stuff for Macs. Also visit lowendmac for legacy Mac info and reviews. Just rely on yourself to figure stuff out... it's enabling and fun at the same time. Knowledge is power!

Macs aren't bad for work, school at all. They're better because the OS is more user friendly and the hardware e.g. the trackpad are very comfortable to use. PCs are perfect for gaming which is why I have both them. Stop acting like retards. Both have advantages and disadvantages you as a smart costumer should find what's better suited to your needs instead of complaining.
When I used a PC I had gone through at least 6 machines in a span of 8 years with 3+ repairs each year. Macs are much more reliable, but not perfect. At that point it must be more than hardware and they should replace the whole machine. Be assertive at the genius bar and they'll give you a whole new computer since you're still under warranty. As opposed to PC repair in which it takes forever and requires you to ship it sometimes. They take a shit in the box and send it back 1 month later.
I'll have your mac if u dont want it. No viruses, clearer screen, perfect for editing software because its so fast and they look so kl. Only poor people dislike them.

So what? Every time you make a change to a PC you have to do the same. Yes Macs go wrong, it's a computer! I have a MacBook not a pro but I love it I have lion on it and have never had a problem except that I haven't been able to put windows games on it but that will change when I decide to set up boot camp. I do understand how you can be frustrated though. I would be as angry as you if it happened to me.

every mac and pc has their differences and flaws. i say look at the flaws and choose what you want to deal with. pc uhm....not so much viruses if you have a virus protector but usually faster speeds in applications and get old kinda fast (if you're a gamer) macs...no games...an over graphical UI that makes the machine all over just more sluggish...and well over priced...

I had that problem and the issue was a magnet that i had on a bracelet that kept making the comp go to sleep every time the magnet hit the side of my mac
darn right i had went through 1 iPod touch (2nd Gen) and what do they do stop making compatible firmware for the unit and the new one (4th Gen) 90% of the time all the apps (even media player)( iOS 5.0.1) crash and i have crash reports up the wazoo and so i broke the warranty by installing Cydia and speed intensifier. now 40% of the time. so long story short apple is not all it is cracked up to be. and also to top it off 8GB iPod -------- 6.39GB useable.
had my mac for two years with no problems other than a battery needing to be replaced after 1300 charge cycles. Macs are surprisingly tough and last for what fels like forever.

@dman2ist PC is pretty awful. None of them last very long hardware wise. I've never had an HP but way back in high school I made the horrible mistake of investing in an Acer. A year later it broke, charger port was loose, then the screen went. It was a mess. I will never buy a PC again ever. Besides, one of the reasons PC's lag after a year is because their applications/ programs are made from fragmented files :P PS. I kind of understand spanish, I speak a latin based language too. Romanian. :)
@thejapanesezombie It seems you don't realize that non-Mac computers (as Macs are classified as PC's as well) use the same general parts as Macs. Same hard drive manufacturers, graphics card/GPU manufacturers, and processor manufacturers. Programs are not 'made from fragmented files' (how is that even possible?). Hard drives, INCLUDING ONES IN MACS, fragment when you delete data, because it leaves empty blocks on it, where the deleted data was. Nothing to do with non-Macs.
Laptops can break. And Apple has a crappy warranty policy. That's why I like Asus. Very reliable, and still good standard years pickup and return international warranty.
Macbooks are pretty reliable too by the way. But they better be for the price you pay for them.
This is my second macbook pro. I got the 17" model with an i7 dual core.
Since I've had it, its never failed, and has gone through 582 charge cycles.
The only problem its ever had was when I upgraded to Lion. The battery decided it was going to report that it was having a problem and needed to be serviced. A clear of PRAM and SMC fixed this. I use this machine daily for business, its never let me down. The only reason its the second is the first fell to its death.(5Stories)
@HEY8461 On a Mac laptop, click on the Apple logo then on About this Mac>More Info>Hardware>Power... there you will see a panel giving the charge information for your battery. The Charge Remaining (mAh) means the charge left in that session. Mine currently says 3982 (65% of my full capacity of 5726). My cycle count (times charged on AC power) is only 3 because it is a brand new battery. I think this battery can go through 500 charge cycles.
@TheKurrgan1 It looks like your battery might be about to croak... that's a lot of cycles. I made the mistake of plugging into AC power every time I used my PowerBook, thinking I was saving the battery. But my research shows that for best battery health, run the laptop using battery power at least an hour a day. Now I run on battery power until I get a warning (at about 10-15% charge remaining.

Hardware failures are common, hard drives die, suck it up. Secondly, troubleshooting something based on the word of a customer without actually being able to reproduce the problem is rather difficult if not impossible. Thirdly, try taking your computer to the brainiacs over at Geeksquad or something and then talk about how bad Apple service is.
Look at that $700 consumer PC after a year and try to tell yourself it was worth it. Cheap plastic always ages well, right?

Macs aren't bad for work, school at all. They're better because the OS is more user friendly and the hardware e.g. the trackpad are very comfortable to use. PCs are perfect for gaming which is why I have both them. Stop acting like retards. Both have advantages and disadvantages you as a smart costumer should find what's better suited to your needs instead of complaining.

When I used a PC I had gone through at least 6 machines in a span of 8 years with 3+ repairs each year. Macs are much more reliable, but not perfect. At that point it must be more than hardware and they should replace the whole machine. Be assertive at the genius bar and they'll give you a whole new computer since you're still under warranty. As opposed to PC repair in which it takes forever and requires you to ship it sometimes. They take a shit in the box and send it back 1 month later.

I look after PC based networks and workstations all day, I'm so glad to get home to my Apple Macintoshes! So you had to restart your laptop, after it had gone onto standby, the battery is flat! So what? Every time you make a change to a PC you have to do the same. Yes Macs go wrong, it's a computer! They tend to go wrong less often than a PC, and when they tend to be easier to fix when they do.

I have a MacBook not a pro but I love it I have lion on it and have never had a problem except that I haven't been able to put windows games on it but that will change when I decide to set up boot camp. every mac and pc has their differences and flaws. i say look at the flaws and choose what you want to deal with. pc uhm....not so much viruses if you have a virus protector but usually faster speeds in applications and get old kinda fast (if you're a gamer) macs...no games...an over graphical UI that makes the machine all over just more sluggish...and well over priced...

darn right i had went through 1 iPod touch (2nd Gen) and what do they do stop making compatible firmware for the unit and the new one (4th Gen) 90% of the time all the apps (even media player)( iOS 5.0.1) crash and i have crash reports up the wazoo and so i broke the warranty by installing Cydia and speed intensifier. now 40% of the time. so long story short apple is not all it is cracked up to be. and also to top it off 8GB iPod -------- 6.39GB useable.

@dman2ist PC is pretty awful. None of them last very long hardware wise. I've never had an HP but way back in high school I made the horrible mistake of investing in an Acer. A year later it broke, charger port was loose, then the screen went. It was a mess. I will never buy a PC again ever. Besides, one of the reasons PC's lag after a year is because their applications/ programs are made from fragmented files :P PS. I kind of understand spanish, I speak a latin based language too. Romanian. :)

@thejapanesezombie It seems you don't realize that non-Mac computers (as Macs are classified as PC's as well) use the same general parts as Macs. Same hard drive manufacturers, graphics card/GPU manufacturers, and processor manufacturers. Programs are not 'made from fragmented files' (how is that even possible?). Hard drives, INCLUDING ONES IN MACS, fragment when you delete data, because it leaves empty blocks on it, where the deleted data was. Nothing to do with non-Macs.

This is my second macbook pro. I got the 17" model with an i7 dual core.
Since I've had it, its never failed, and has gone through 582 charge cycles.
The only problem its ever had was when I upgraded to Lion. The battery decided it was going to report that it was having a problem and needed to be serviced. A clear of PRAM and SMC fixed this. I use this machine daily for business, its never let me down. The only reason its the second is the first fell to its death.(5Stories)

@HEY8461 On a Mac laptop, click on the Apple logo then on About this Mac>More Info>Hardware>Power... there you will see a panel giving the charge information for your battery. The Charge Remaining (mAh) means the charge left in that session. Mine currently says 3982 (65% of my full capacity of 5726). My cycle count (times charged on AC power) is only 3 because it is a brand new battery. I think this battery can go through 500 charge cycles.

I made the mistake of plugging into AC power every time I used my PowerBook, thinking I was saving the battery. But my research shows that for best battery health, run the laptop using battery power at least an hour a day. Now I run on battery power until I get a warning (at about 10-15% charge remaining.

The reason is probably that the Mac isn't charged enough or you have something running in the background taking up too much RAM.
I'm not an expert of Macs by the way but I do know that these are always the most common problems no matter what the OS is.

Hardware failures are common, hard drives die, suck it up. Secondly, troubleshooting something based on the word of a customer without actually being able to reproduce the problem is rather difficult if not impossible. Thirdly, try taking your computer to the brainiacs over at Geeksquad or something and then talk about how bad Apple service is.
Look at that $700 consumer PC after a year and try to tell yourself it was worth it. Cheap plastic always ages well, right?

@funkletron Maybe you can't build a PC, but my PC is still running great. It looks like shit (I built a crude frame to make it small--it fits in a backpack and there are wires hanging everywhere), but it runs perfectly. If you need to use GeekSquad, maybe you should get a Mac.
