  • 3 year's this video has been on and it's still very useful lol. Just done my seat leon fr150 ,05 plate, loads of water poured out of the door i was quite surprised.

now it's time for loads of hot water bottle's to try and dry my carpet.

    Nice one corsur!!

  • very boring.

  • Thanks a million for this video. Had this problem for a few months with Ford Mondeo front passenger side. Mechanic I knew, said it was pollen filter, changed this and still leaked. Saw your vid and put in a Saturday doing both front doors. Couple of months later and no leaks after plenty of heavy rain. Thanks!!

  • Thanks so much for this video. I had it on my phone to watch as I did the repair to my Fabia, and it's just withstood its first rainstorm since the repair; bone dry!

  • Hi corsur, Thanks very much for solving the mystery of why my 2002 Fabia's windows are always misted up, where the water comes from every time it rains (and it rains a lot here in Glasgow!) and how to fix the problem in easy to follow stages. Skoda should pay you a consultancy fee (or would they prefer we all paid our local Skoda dealer a small fortune to fix this simple problem?) Thanks buddy for a great video!

  • Thanks mate i have the same problem with my seat leon im gonna sort it today thanks good video

  • Great vid many thanks. This coupled with a pictoral guide I found that slightly more clearly shows exactly where to silicone up solved the problem entirely :)

  • Thanks for the video! My wife had the same problem with her Fabia, we took it to the local dealership, who did the same fix as this. BUT, it still leaked!! after looking at this video, I had a look at the doors myself, and noticed that water could still get in through the holes below the repaired seam (where the nylon poppers go into). What I did was to place a ring of silicone sealant around each hole, and pop the panel back on straight away. The result - dry Skoda!

  • Suits SEATs & VWs too... nice video. Thanks for sharing. I'll be sorting my Toledo soon...

  • Thanks for the video

Got the same problem and I will give it a go

  • Thanks mate, i'm doing both of my seals today!!

  • I'm *so* happy I found this video!

Is there a sure way to confirm that it is the door seals that are leaking before I go ahead and take my car to bits?

    Thanks!

  • @jasonleechtube You will see water running down out from behind the door panel at the bottom after it has rained.

  • @jasonleechtube After rain, you should see that the lowest part of the black rubber door seal is wet, and maybe even be able to trace the wetness from there to the damp patch on the carpet. Once you pop the door panel off, squeeze the carrier as the video suggests, and if water comes out you know where it's coming from.

  • @corsur Thanks mate your a legend! I've been getting some terrible condensation build up inside my car. When I saw your video I checked in the rear passenger side and found the foot well to be soaking wet! Gonna try your helpful guide and hopefully be rid of this nightmare.

  • @MrMadpierre It should be alright a bit damp, better to do it though in warmer weather, but have a go now, and if it does leak again you can always redo in summer.

  • briiliant video..thanks, my fabia steams up all the time could this be why?..also my rear washer has stopped squirting could this be something to do with it too?..im not very mechanically minded..sorry..thanks .

  • @100roberthenry There is also a chance. The rear wiper pipe has a joint under that plastic kick guard on the sill, that can leak, but is hard to get at just don't use the rear wiper wash and it stops. if you cant get the plastic sill of to get at it.

  • Had this problem on my '56 Fabia vRS, could not find the source of the problem until now. Massive thanks for this tutorial and video upload, you have saved me a massive main dealer bill. I managed to break all the clips getting the door panel off so would advise anyone to get replacements before hand, there are 7 clips per door and you can get them from any trade parts supplier for 25p each!

  • Well Chuffed

It may be nothing for you to do, but this leak has been such a pain in my xxxx my mother sent me your You Tube video link and i have just been out and done it, i found the little plastic clips a bit tricky but your video made the whole job quite quick and easy even for me so Big Thanks to you!!!!!!!

  • did this fix at the weekend. thank you for this video, it was very helpful

  • this is a top video and sorted my problem - very clear and helpful

  • To prevent the tags busting on the grille bit you need to unclip it from the end towards the rear of the car in the centre, you need to get your unclipping tool (flat blade screwdrive) in there a reasonable depth for the clip to be disengaged. (Just found this out after busting my own but I'm sure they won't cost much from a dealer).

  • Watch those trim studs wear eye protection! I fixed my leaks because of your video.THANK YOU

  • What a fantastic video. Had to do both back doors & this video made it REALLY simple. Best google result ever. Thanks

  • So much easier when someone shows you how to do it. It has soaked up my door panels as well. Cheers.

  • So many thanks to you.

  • Great Video, many thanks.

Do you have to leave the door card off until the sealant has dried?

Or can you apply the sealant then put the door card back and let the sealant dry against the door card?

  • Its best to leave it off , but you can let it rest against it to get the door closed overnight, all depends on the sealant used and weather for drying times.

  • Excellent Video.

I did this repair on both rear doors this morning and it took about half an hour max.

    Cheers.

  • Thanks... followed the video and have done both doors. Fingers crossed all will dry out.

One tip: The little speakers are a little tricky to get out. I found that a flat blade pushed down gently by the door lever helps release the catch and push away and gently lever at the same time. I broke two catches on the first one. None on the second door.

  • I have a mysterious leak into a rear passenger side footwell. But I thought if it was the door carrier the door card would have some obvious dampness, and the plastic trim on the floor by the door seal would be wet. From what you say it seems this is not the case?

Thanks for posting this very clear video, a million times better than a Haynes manual.

  • There is also a chance. The rear wiper pipe has a joint under that plastic kick guard on the sill, that can leak, but is hard to get at just don't use the rear wiper wash and it stops. if you cant get the plastic sill of to get at it.

  • Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Very clear and useful. I have this problem on the left hand rear door of my 04 fabia and will be having a crack at fixing it this weekend!

    Cheers!

  • great video, my 02 fabia has the same problem, is there a plastic membrane behind the panel, diden't seem to see that in the video, also can you prize out the mirror controls in the drivers door as you do with the speaker in rear door?

  • Not to sure about the plastic membrace, will i didn't see one ? never done the fronts but it should be similar, but i do think the mirror controls would be slightly harder to remove.

  • Thanks, will give it a go.

  • thx man... I have fabia combi 2006 with the same problem on both rear door

  • Great help, saved me hours. Many thanks

  • sorted out my leaking doors today, used bike tyre levers too get at clips, plastic one's so they would'nt scratch the paint work.Rain tomorrow,so I'll see if it's dry on Sun!!

  • we've got the same prob on our fabia vrs 05, now after watching this will give the repair a go asap!

    many thanks!!

  • Thanks for this - an absoulte godsend.

  • Thanks good video, very clearly done.

But won't the water be trapped INSIDE the door panel ?

  • No, there are drain holes underneath the door (check they are not blocked). When it rains the water runs down the inside of the metal panel, and if the door seal is broken, some of the water will pass through the seal, instead of over it as it makes its way to the drain holes which are at the very bottom of the door edge.

  • A great video - many thanks

  • Great vid, i work for skoda and this is very similar to what we do.
