I think the shiny button is made of tombac - that was probably a farm field of some sort - if there was a paper mill nearby - they often used the dregs as fertilizer (similar to lime) - being they used rags to make paper - lots of buttons in those dregs - I have some fields near me that are similar - when they are plowed you see little white glass buttons everywhere - great finds....
Nice ! hi roadkilljim ... my name is Jesse , I've been watching your videos for a couple yrs now ... I also have been swiping for a couple yrs also ... your videos are great , keep up tha good stuff !! Love that hair ... I've got a bushy crop myself , I even cut it myself , even though I am bad at it , saves goin' to tha stylist ... Take care ! I've subscribed and I'll keep watchin' , See Ya !
Well one thing we can say about the Colonials in your area is that the cotton they used was absolute crap since all the buttons came adrift, so they obviously ran around with their clothes a-flappin' in the breeze (the women, that is). Fortunately, among all that flappin', one of them became separated from their 1663 coin at some point LOL - along comes Jim. Congratulations & HH mate.
You found three thimbles cause they sucked at sewing on buttons! Nice coin finally. You earned that one! Please don't make it into a button! LOL! Nice sites. They'll pay off again!
You didnt get near as excited as I would have expected nor as I would have gotten. Thats a crazy nice find jim. Sitting there in the woods for 100's of years waiting on you. Fantastic find!
@cmm2k5 The gold coin was pure shock value, this was more of a vindication kind of satisfaction...I knew there had to be a coin out there somewhere and that it would be amazing, just took a long time to get there.
It got to be a place in there with lots of silvers.. Nice video and what a find!! Would love to find one of those! Plenty of relics there, makes the day great! HH
The relics you are finding are awesome colonial-era relics for sure.. The "silver" buttons you are finding are Tombac buttons and appear silver because of the metals they were made with.. exactly why they were using that material though=cheap silver ;) the silver scrap you found is very intriguing, would love to see close-ups of any designs that might be on it?? The shoe buckles are great, and the cob is outstanding! way to go
