Just throwing my opinion in here. From what I've seen from my fire departments chief running LED lights and the videos I've seen on here. LEDs are great for night time. But the day time you may as well just not even bother turning them on. They seem dim for the day time.Compared to strobes or rotators.
Actually, on some departments, yes. In the state where I used to live, the state troopers were given a LTD interceptor and a certain amount of money to spend on equiping it with lights. Most departments tho, equip all their vehicles the same for the sake of uniformity and consistency.
I agree, The Sho-Me luminator bars are just as bright as the Highlighter. The Sho-Me bars come with four 90lb magnets, I have driving off-road with my bar and havn't lost it yet, hasn't even moved.
Hi, I would like to ask you How top speed did you drive with Highlighter on your car. I would like to buy it but I am afraid that it is not too strong for hold on the moving car.
i just bought the led highlighter and it is strong..the suckion cups with the mag inside of it..the only problem is getting it off the car..haha but it was fine doing 80 on the interstate
Some of the patterns on the light on the right don't look like they would be very effective. It just seems to me like not many people would take notice of those patterns when the vehicle comes from behind.
Federal Signal clearly dominated the emergency light industry with the introduction of the gumball light in 1948 and will continue to dominate it in centuries to come. They clearly are the best..In second place I'd have to rate the Hella RTK series due to it's communication light in the center that flashes messages.
Actually a magnet switches the patterns. You put the magnet over a little chip and it switches to the next pattern. Fed Sig just came out with a harness that allows you to do it from inside the car with a switch.
I think you would be better of comparing this to another Generation 3 LED mini bar like the Mini Liberty instead of a generation 1 LED bar in the SHO-Me
I just received my Fed Sig Highlighter Solaris lightbar, put it on my truck and tried it out AMAZING! even during the day its Super bright! and at night, you can hardly look in the general direction of it. It bounces light off traffic signs even at a 1/4 mile away. Ill be posting a video of it soon. for audible warning if you cant use siren tones I recommend the Whelen PAP112 air horn with PA nice and loud with the whelen SA315P speaker, its a great combo
SHO-ME uses only Gen1 and Gen3 leds no one is using Gen4 yet but it's coming. The Highlighter may be pricy like all of FedSigs leds but it's nice and it has the rotater like flashpatterns that people like.
Tomar is nice if you can afford it but it's no brighter then Whelen, Fed Sig S2 stuff.
Sad thing is I'd take that ShoMe over any of CODE3's Leds
both light bars are nice. I dont see alot of highlighters around me. Do you have any Tomars. Thats what alot of our fire police have and also I am pretty sure its what our police use to.
I found the Federal Signal LED for 315 on a web site and for 350 it can have mag mounts... my question is with yalls 2 videos is the first one in the day just poor video quality or dose the federal look that bad in the day ? I'm kinda needing help on deciding on the sho-me generation 3 bar or the federal ... but yalls outside and inside videos confuse me... PLEASE ADVISE
The thing with strobes, the never show up on camera footage. I will agree that the new sho-me light is real close to the highlighter.....it even has a on/off and pattern change switch on the plug. slightly cheaper too. Whelen doesn't have anything that really compares to these two, the mini LFL liberty bar is too heavy and big, the same with Code 3 and the mini 2100 bar.
I have been running the new highlighter on my car for a few weeks now and it moves more traffic then the show me did that is for sure. I one grip is the switching of patterns with the magnet. We found only certain magnets will work and its a pain in the but to get teh magnet on it just right to switch.
I must say i am impressed with the LED highlighter. I myself am strongly a Whelen man. I have the responder 2 halogen mini bar on top of my truck with a single red phantom under the rear review mirror. I LOVE the new all LED whelen Liberty bar we have on the brush truck.
