  • Hi, i dont like this...I LOVE IT......sounds great...i want to learn this, is it standard tuning???

  • @bombaymatt

Thank you. Yes this is standard tuning.

    allen

  • Hi Allen, I remember this one. Very nice mood in your rendition.

    Frank

  • Hi Allen, Would be great if you had this on paper. I'd be grateful if you'd have a look. My e-mail address is dsbe10 AT verizon.net (of course replace the "AT" with the at symbol). Thanks again, Bill.

  • Beautifully done. Been looking for tab of this for ages. Do you have this on paper?

  • @1Potrzebie

Thank you for your kind words. I think I may have written this down a couple of years ago. Shoot me a note with your email address and I will have a look.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Allen, Is there a transcription available? Thanks, Harry

  • Beautifully done! This is one of my favorite standards. Where can I find this Martin Taylor arrangement?

    Harry

  • @harisimotube

Thank you Harry. Martin recorded this on his album "The Valley".

    Cheers,

    allen

  • such nice pieces allen

  • @johnsonhogg

You are very kind. Thank you.

    allen

  • Just saw that some idiot has given a thumb down...haha, crazy, forget it....jealousy,or whatever...not worth to discuss with such a dumb-ass....

  • @LONGWINDING

Everyone has different likes and dislikes. I don't worry.

    allen

  • @carvetop01 That´s true, but the anonymous person could try to explain his "opinion", maybe from a high standard...or maybe it´s just something else....giving thumbs up/down is antique Roman behaviour....

  • @LONGWINDING

That's a good point. Criticism can be a very good thing if it's constructive.

  • I must admit....I don´t know the tune,;-)) Best part (or - most popular part): The A-major followed by the A4, with melody G#A...G#A (2:41)...Great. This musical idea would be a great starting point for something new....a new tune.............this chromatic in the melody, together with the third and quart....mmmmmmm, inspiring...

    Frank

  • @LONGWINDING

    Thanks Frank,

I like open string voicing whenever possible.

    allen

  • You do a great job playing the standards, real classics.

  • @1edkihm ,

Thank you. This is one of my favorite Rodgers and Hart songs. Thank you for listening.

    allen

  • I listened, having ceased to breathe!!! Bravo!!!

  • I close my eyes and I am transfomed to a quiet wonderful world of "Bliss" when you play this song...my favorite by far....this is YOU.....

  • Why thank you young lady. I know this is your favorite and I was thinking of you when I recorded it.

BTW, clever name. I wish I had thought of it:O)

  • @naincee1

I bet you say that to all the guys.

  • this word seems inadequate, but while I was moving to the music, it kept going through my mind. NICE.

    allen

  • @jhndnlds

    allen

  • ...could watch this one over and over again - just beautiful!

  • You are very kind. Thank you.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Very nice! You allow the music to breath. Love the little impro at 2:49. Felt like the guitar is telling a story. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thank you very much for the kind words. They are encouraging.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Second visit: This is so cool, really good playing here Allen, the thing about quality Music ,it always makes me return, this arrangement has quite a lot of surprises, moving counter-melodies,great voicings, harmonics, very nice indeed, might come back a third time, 10* Vic.

  • You are welcome to come back anytime! I love this tune. Whenever I hear it I have difficulty getting it out of my head. I heard this tune once with a trombone playing the melody. Whoever was playing the trombone made me feel like the song was written just for him. You make that happen on several of your performances. (Just check the contents of my favorites). That my friend is art.

Thank you for your encouraging and kind words. I keep on trying to get "it" right.

    allen

  • Yes alan very fine playing indeed and a wonderful tune, that relaxed atmosphere making "time" part of the Music is something that all good players poses,so important, knowing when not to play, very good ,Victor.

  • You are very kind Victor.

It's a rather long arrangement hence the modulation at 3:57 to keep from getting too repetative.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • This is one of few presentations where I can here a 'Fusion' of the score, the instrument and Artist all coming together for the Mind to enjoy...

    -Basement Bob

    -Athens, GA

  • Wow, that's quite a compliment. Thank you.

    allen

    allen

  • I'm looking forward to it.

  • sounds great Allen! your tone is amazing, also nice to see you in living color!

  • Thank you. Great to hear from you.

    allen

  • Excelente!!!!!

  • muchas gracias! Me gusta realizar, pero no gozan de la grabación. (Pobre Español)?

    Atentamente,

    allen

  • wow even thought you are flat picking you still got that martin taylor sound down man.

  • Thanks,

I have seen him live 5 times. 2 times in the USA and 3 times in Scotland. If you have not seen him live, jump at the first opportunity you get.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Simply Great! 5 stars!

  • Thank you for your kind words!

    Keep posting,

    allen

  • Hey Allen

Nice to see you got a camera. It shows just how good your flatpicking is. I like the way your pinky is anchored at all times to give a base for your picking. Your "lack of fingerstyle skill" is not a disadvantage when you can flatpick so beautifully.

p.s. have you tried any hybrid picking instead of fingerstyle?

    best wishes

    Chris

  • Hey Chris.

I have tried hybrid picking. I use it when I play any of Tommy Emmanuel's arrangements. "The Hunt" "The Robin" and a few others don't work well with flat picking. The runs in "The Robin" are not that difficult. There are a few places in that tune that require some sort of picking other than flat.

    I keep trying.

    Thanks for the kind words.

    allen

  • Fabulous Man!

  • Beautiful playing, and I say it despite myself because it's one of my all-time least favourite songs.

  • Thank you. That's high praise coming from an Irishman :)

And here I was thinking "Danny Boy" was your least favorite.

    Keep posting man,

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Finally you show your first class guitar to the public! Do you play with a 3mm Wegen Pick? I have those too, they make a full warm tone.

    Beautiful playing, almost meditative...

  • Actually it's a Kradl pick. I don't think they are in business anymore. I bought a gross of them so I have a lifetime supply.

Thank you for the kind words.

    allen

  • Hi Allen, beautiful playing as always! You sure do a good job of adapting fingerstyle to flat-pick style (What kind of pick are you using?). It's nice to see that beautiful guitar and the musician playing it. Great way to start off the year! Steve.
