He forgets to mention the 24/7 crime wave, #2 in country for tornadoes, hurricanes that really clean out the lawn, if it isn't not hot it's only because of the flooding storms, since there's no personal income tax you're taxed every other way, sprawling sea of look alike poorly built homes for the suckers who fall for the phony sales line, ... oh, it just goes on & on... did I mention that Florida residents have better chance of having a gun stuck in their face than anywhere else?

We moved to the St. Petersburg area from Pittsburgh and we absolutely love it here. Pittsburgh is a beautiful place and we had many wonderful friends there, and I'll always love the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins, but the weather here is so amazing and we actually see the sun almost every day. We live on the coast and rarely see any bugs--we had WAY more bugs in Pittsburgh. Fortunately not everyone wants to live here; that's a good thing since it would be too crowded otherwise.
thank God for people like you. I have lived in Florida 41 years and loved every second. I am so thankful when people wish to live elsewhere......whew!
Not using turn signals, making left turns from the right turn lane, driving 20 mph hour in a 35 mph zone, these things used to annoy us. With the downturn in the economy, now we just chuckle and say Welcome back, snowbirds.
Another Ohioan who got smart!! I moved from Mayfield Hts. to Las Vegas in the 90s and just loved it...then my wife decided to move back to OH after only 4 years! Ouch!!!
I too will stay in East Tennessee...... No BUGS, Hurricanes, Tornado's, earthquakes, very mild winters no extreme heat, low taxes, LOW insurance rates, minutes from the mountains, lakes and great camping..... although I would give it all up for Montana, Idaho, Eastern Wahington (Colville/Kettle Falls) or Northern Wisconsin.
Hey anyone in Florida got room for 2 very lovable seniors who like to cook and relax? We're really only interested in relocating for the months of Nov. through April -- then you can pack up for our WI summer and move in here with us. How about it?
I came to St. Petersburg in 2001, made more money (working) than I ever have, don't mind the bugs, weather is fine (just stay inside from noon til 6), live in a nice eclectic village (Gulfport) with a minimal amount of republicans and red-necks, found a wonderful liberal arts college in my backyard (Eckerd) where I've discovered the joys of contempating my naval on a sunny afternoons. I'm here to stay!
This Yankee democrat is staying in California . . where we have Mountains and earthquakes and fires . . All that flat landscape would bore the hael outta me . . Great song though
Plus....if you move there and are looking for work, just remember what I was told 30 years ago when I first got a job in Sarasota (the political home of the beloved Kathryn Harris who delivered the 2000 election to Dubya): "25% of your salary is the weather." One thing to be retired; quite another to have to work for a living. And, if you're 55 today, unless you were lucky, you'll be working for the rest of your life.
There are four seasons in Florida: Tourist, Hurricane, Drought and Rainy. Yes, you have snow in other parts of the country, but Summer doesn't start in March and run thru December either. If you think summer is hot when it's 80-85, try that as your low Spring temp....and just remember that's the low at midnight in August. If you like to hear birds chirping with windows open more than 6 weeks out of the year, you are SOL. I know. I'm a native Floridian and let's not even TALK about salaries.
@TuckerdogNC Complete BS. I live in Naples, which is as far south as you can get on the Gulf Coast. Record high temp for summer is 99°F, and the average high is 91°F. Average low is 73°F. This is the hottest part of the summer! The FL heat is exaggerated by people. Summers are hotter in Connecticut, although there is less days where it's really hot, the record high for CT is 104°F. That's 5°F hotter than the FL record high. The record low in CT is -18°F. I'll take FL's "hot" weather any day!
You can keep Florida, I moved back up north to the United States where I don't have to speak Spanish or hear gun shots! Oh I Hated the weather down there, too hot!
I've lived all over FL, from the Gold Coast to the Nature Coast to the Emerald Coast, now back to the Gold Coast and I've travelled the entire state, and I'm happy to share with people who will appreciate it all. I only ask that people who relocate to la Florida(even seasonally) look a bit into its history and appreciate its richness.
I find it difficult to listen to anyone who thinks that where they are or what they have is the best. It is pretty simple to understand that we are all different and have different tastes. Nobody is wrong except for those individuals who feel it's their way or the highway. I find Florida, especially Clearwater an amazing place. No I don't want to live there, but I will never bad mouth it either. To each their own There is beauty and uniqueness everywhere if you'll open up your mind.
I say to all you old snowbirds, we love you and your money, Come on down for a couple of months and drop a few thousand. I must agree you do have that shitty northern attitude. So after a couple of months get the hell back up north. It'll take us 10 min to forget you. See you next year unless you get Obamacare, then you might not make it.
I'm a semi-old fart living in the Keys, bought a house in 2001 and live in it full time with my beautiful lady. There are lots of homes for sale now, so come on down and get the Keys Disease!
I forgot to mention one thing. The construction is complete for the great bridge to the beach. All of the other mess in and around Pier is complete and beautiful. Not only do we have the beach, we are very close to Busch Gardens, Lowry Park, to name a few places to see. As for the Tampa Bay Buc's football team, just across the causeway. Don't write us off until you come to see for yourself the magic of
I live on the Gulf Coast, Clearwater, all my life-62 yrs. Visited many other states & I love it all. But, as Dorothy said, "there is no place like home". My entire family has lived & died here. Maybe, it's not paradise for some, but it's my home. And, the beach? I love the salt water smell, swimming and the soft, white sand, etc. Where we live is a choice for some. Personally, I have always wondered how people manage in the snow? Paradise is a dream & home is where I am with all it's flaws.
Oh I love it. What I really love is each day when a bunch of old, poor and pissed-off farts leave and go back up north. Thank God they will be miserable everywhere but at least it won't be here. Hahaha... goodbye old farts. Take a manatee with you... at least most of them are more attractive then your spouse.
Open your eyes! We OLD FARTS who also pay real estate taxes (We don't qualify for the Homestead Exemption like you do) keep your economy going & provide people like you with your job. So keep your sarcastic opinions to yourself!!!
Wow, my comment was directed only towards the old, pissed off farts. It had nothing to do with the hard-working "old/older" people who come down here and have fun (who I love and respect). Obviously, my comment got under your skin because you were one of those who are miserable. Hopefully, when you come down next season you will lighten up a bit. Believe it or not, not everyone here has a service-based or local job. You absolutely have no effect on my employment but have a nice day! Eyes open!
Just think, if the older generation followed your suggestions you would be paying a helluva lot more taxes., and local businesses that need their support would dwindle. Fortunately I dont live in Florida and rarely visit. Have some compassion for your neighbors son. Someday you might get a little older and above all more mature.
Kenny, actually I would be glad to pay a "helluva" lot more taxes. Fortuantely, you don't live in Florida. I wouldn't visit... much too hot and I am sure you would complain. I am not your son by the way. Of course I "might get a little older"... it is called aging. I just hope I don't become bitter, nasty and condescending like some of the "old" people do.
I don't know why people cannot read. It is taught in *most* states.
I know your not my son, he is respectful of his elders. I do visit, I have huge family in Naples and good friends in Venus Beach, West Palm, and the keys, and I have never complained. I just wouldn't want to retire there.
Your right, it is much too hot, especially in August. From what I read you are already "bitter, nasty and condescending" so I guess you don't have to worry about changing when you mature. good luck with that!
After reading the most recent comments on this page I have come to the conclusion you should ignore jim and not let his whining bother you. He seems to have a problem, doesn't appear to be a people person and more than likely doesn't play well with others. Peace.
I don't have any problems, thank you. I don't know why bitter, old people keep personally responding to comments. I can't help it that they angry (probably because of their declining property values!!!). I play just fine with others. Amazing that you now know me... I didn't realize you now know who I am from a few comments.
Oh Ken. Just like that thing above you that posted I didn't realize you knew me too. Wow, I must be famous. Meeting all of these angry old people who know me and yet I don't remember them. You just took offense to my comment because you are one of those who I was referring to. No problem. Just an FYI, there is no such thing as Venus Beach. Maybe you were looking for Venice.
Heat index at the beach today = 115. I love it. I hope you enjoy whatever you have left of your life.
I moved to Florida in 73 and went back North in 97. All ican say is I miss all my Pal's on the Gulf Coast and as Gen. Patton once. "I will return" Paradise is the Gulf Coast with Andy, Ronnie & Emile. Adam
I was born in Florida, but left there in '61, '65, '79 and finally in '87. Those times I moved to Colorado Springs, CO! to the Rocky Mountains and Pikes Peak! I'm from the East coast of Fla (Volusia and Brevard Cty), in 85-87 we were stationed at MacDill-UGH! I remember Tampa when it was a clean town. I also remember Miami when it was clean too. That was before 1960. Born in Daytona Beach in1944, I do remember. I remember pre-International Speedway when they raced on the beach! What change
I call it funny and anyone that is looking for politically incorrect speech, they can find it here!!! That's one reason I like this so much. LOLL!!! Thanks to JT for sharing this with me. *****.
Oh I recall Miama from that era.. You could actually walk down by the the hotels and the sidewalks were like .. white/clean. There were real coconut trees in Coconut Grove. There was no Leisure City, and Homestead was rednecks and gators, and the occasional AF recruit.
Hi...I live in Northeast Missouri. Why? Because my daughter and grandkids are here and we are retired. We have been to Florida twice for vacation and I dearly love the palm trees and the ocean. I think the video is great.
for the idiot who spoke of the irony in my previous posting; i said i lived in michigan, i was not born and raised there. you yourself must be a hater of the sunny beaches of florida because you took the time to comment on my comment. thanks!
jesus christ you "snowbirds" are all haters! i was born and raised in clearwater florida then i lived in michigan and it's the crappiest state in the entire north america! i feel so sorry for everyone who lives in snow cause they ALL wish they could ove to the southern states. that's why they all talk smack. you're just jealous! haha
i guess you have to rewad my post again to understand it "buzz". there is no irony in it. i was born and raised in florida, joined the military, moved to michigan for my husband, then moved away because it sucked ass. does my living in a northern state make me a snowbird? nope. is ti ironic that i moved to michigan because i lived in florida? no. what's your point dude cause you havent made it yet.
I wouldn't call it bias, I would call it the truth. I have lived here for more than 20 years and the description he gives isn't bias, it's just a description. And BTW, its not southbirds, it's SnowBirds. There is no need to gloss over anything, it is what it is. Except the Puerto Rican part, most of the lawns were done by Mexicans until the crash.
everyone here is all talk abt southbirds, etc. no one talked abt the fact the song says he moved where Anglos live at .29 seconds into song.. Then at 1.16 secs.sings abt not having 2 mow the lawn, he's got 2 Puerto Ricans to mow the grass...how bias is that ?
damn i been visiting florida for years! my grandma lives there and i visit her in a 55+ community and bring my kids down and no one complains! theyre happy to see young people enjoying themselves! and lemme be the one to tell u tourist bring florida billions of dollars a year, from hotels resorts to shopping and attractions..crime has nothing to do with where a person comes from but their personal values and respect
wtf is all the ignorant bickering about???? im reading everyones comments and you all have a lot of fuckin nerve! first off people move down to florida to retire, others move down because cost of living is cheaper. im from ny and planning to move down there this winter..permanently!im well educated but considered low income in ny because of high rental prices here if i made the money i make here down in florida id be rich!
Hmmm...let's see. If I were homeless, where would I chose to live? Underneath an overpass in Ohio, Michigan, or maybe New York? Only in the summer months! There are more people moving to Florida than those who pay taxes.
most of the crime is from the individuals who have live in the SW for some time. THEY NEVER HAD MONEY TO GET OUT OF FLORIDA and yes TRASHY people were laid out at your city doors which is very unfair however that is the CASE scenario thru out the little towns of the MIDWEST the city dumps their trash on the unsuspecting souls of the outer suburbs and country settings. Though I own a house in SW Florida. I consider myself a visitor to your town and know it takes time to earn my place in the area
I can understand the concern of the real Floridians....I relocated recently to the SW FLORIDA>.....I like the area...I donate to your taxes big time...I really liked the comment from one post that CRIME HAS INCREASED tremendously with the move of tourist and other individuals into the SW.....PLEASEEEEEE.....YOUR low life society and others FEED ON US by robbing us at any given moment

Florida has become terrible wit the snowbirds. Thye crowwd the restaurants, stores, roads, Doctor and dentist office. They overuse our resources and then go home. Can't stand them!!!!
We snow birds pump hundreds of millions, maybe billions of dollars into your economy each year going to restaurants, theaters, retail stores, etc. If it werent for us many of these businesses would go under and you would probably have a state income tax. Many of us also have homes there and pay real estate taxes just like you. By the way Florida is good for only 3 to 4 months a year, otherwise it sucks,
I've lived in Florida my whole life. Biggest problem with it is all the people from everywhere else. I recommend everyone stay where they are. You're all right...where you are now is better :)
If you really wanna show us Floridians, don't vacation here either.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Please....tourists are what clog up our roadways and raise our crime rate. After Hurricane Katrina, our crime rate doubled. And the old people you all bitch about are from up north and moved here...they're not natives. Our taxes are low because we know how to vote. People move here from up north and do nothing but complain about everything. If you old hometown was so great, why'd you leave? Sucks living in Florida? Did you not research where you were moving to? Idiots! Think before YOU speak!
Actually NOT, the tourists use up resources (Police, Fire, Medical) that we wouldn't need if they weren't here, As far as supporting ourselves we wre the second largest beef producer in the nation ( not to mention the orange juice industry) so ya'll just stay where ya'll are at and we'll be just fine.
You can keep that muggy heat and bugs! I'll take a a hot spiced cider by the cozy fire while it's snowing outside! Florida is way too hot with too many mobile homes and seniors buggering up the roads! :)
my advice is dont come to florida! it sucks here i live in fort myers i have been here off and on for the past four years and when i leave next month i am never coming back. ill take snow over this any day
I, for one, love your song and video. My inlaws live there now (originally from NY) and this is the life they have lived and enjoyed for the past year (minus the puerto ricans - they have a condo!). I think you are very funny and have sent your video on to some other folks!
I even have a tattoo of an orange grove on my groin. your father has done more for this state than anyone and you shame him with this liberal, jiverish, hootin annie. what we need my friends are a ditch a ditch of hope that will flood into a river of freedom!
I agree about the snowbirds, but I got the hell out of NJ. LOVE Florida and love the laws. I have a ccw permit and enjoy life. Even if I linger at a green light. God Bless.
Good question. Since the yankee devils have destroyed the natural economy replacing it with their retirement funds, elimination of said funds would present a problem. 1 short term solution which is not only the most practical but the most expedient would be to utilize yankee scalps as currency though the rampant balding of this group along with the massive amounts of hair plugs might render this option invalid as a long term monetary policy. The solution will certainly require some thought.
This is such a strong argument that I would have to agree totally! I went down to Florida a couple of years ago and retrieved my yankee dad from paradise and injected him into the cold hell of the upper midwest winters. I guess you would have to call it Karma. :)
oh nooo.. I have one. It's white too. And has an 'I support Florida Police' sticker on the back. My father gave it too me when he couldn't see well enough to drive.
I grew up in Florida and it is true! Not that it was meant to be offensive but that is just the way is was and always will be. Just for the record I mowed lawns and cleaned pools. Made good money too!
Yes I'm a total bigot, that's why I am up in arms about the racial content of this song.
Are YOU old school in thinking that the darkies belong in servitude? If not then you aren't soggy in the brain (or maybe you are) and I'm not refering to you.
I'm glad that the fan base of this byzantine garbage are on there death beds. I just don't get the desperate need to put other ethnicities in what you all seem to think are their places, It's classless, it's ancient... die off already.
Leftie? Please. That's what my comment boils down to - petty. I love FL, I have lived in Tampa for 13 years... and had nothing but white trash mow my lawn, and tend to my pool. Thank God for the simplicity of the south in all its shades of ignorance. FL is a good place for those going soggy in the brain and wasting away in margaritaville - just PLEASE keep your ethnic slurry slurs to yourself and your nursing home friends. That's all darlin... it was a catchy song until it got classless.
joliezolie - you sound like an absolute idiot. I am one of those people who go down to Florida for the winter, we are called "snowbirds" and we are not "soggy in the brain" we are well educated and well respected with money to spend. You certainly don't know how to have fun. I pity you when you become "soggy in the brain" I hope you waste away in a poor nursing home. You also sound like a very ignorant biggot
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Bringing up having money (to spend no less), an education, and respect - in the same defensive breath - is SO VERY nouveau riche, don't you think?. You must be from PA or the Mid West?
It almost has the area pegged perfectly. The drawings had the white socks with sandals but the singer left them out. It's a very important rule that must NOT be broken; men must wear white socks (ankle or knee) with sandals and shorts. LOL
I've lived in Florida, albeit not the Gulf Coast, for 58+ years. I've been lucky to live on the Gulf Coast since 1977 and you won't get me to live anywhere else.

Snowbirds can stay up north. Only the birds should come south.

TuckerdogNC 2 years ago
There are four seasons in Florida: Tourist, Hurricane, Drought and Rainy. Yes, you have snow in other parts of the country, but Summer doesn't start in March and run thru December either. If you think summer is hot when it's 80-85, try that as your low Spring temp....and just remember that's the low at midnight in August. If you like to hear birds chirping with windows open more than 6 weeks out of the year, you are SOL. I know. I'm a native Floridian and let's not even TALK about salaries.
TuckerdogNC 2 years ago
@TuckerdogNC Complete BS. I live in Naples, which is as far south as you can get on the Gulf Coast. Record high temp for summer is 99°F, and the average high is 91°F. Average low is 73°F. This is the hottest part of the summer! The FL heat is exaggerated by people. Summers are hotter in Connecticut, although there is less days where it's really hot, the record high for CT is 104°F. That's 5°F hotter than the FL record high. The record low in CT is -18°F. I'll take FL's "hot" weather any day!

One cannot live in a better place for weather 8-9 months of the year. One can't say that for many places in the world.
I grew up here and have lived in and traveled to many areas in the US and have no intention of leaving Bonita Springs Florida.

Don't write us off until you come to see for yourself the magic of
watching dolphins. Such beauty.

Take a manatee with you... at least most of them are more attractive then your spouse.
jim09091 2 years ago
Open your eyes! We OLD FARTS who also pay real estate taxes (We don't qualify for the Homestead Exemption like you do) keep your economy going & provide people like you with your job. So keep your sarcastic opinions to yourself!!!
789home 2 years ago
Wow, my comment was directed only towards the old, pissed off farts. It had nothing to do with the hard-working "old/older" people who come down here and have fun (who I love and respect). Obviously, my comment got under your skin because you were one of those who are miserable. Hopefully, when you come down next season you will lighten up a bit. Believe it or not, not everyone here has a service-based or local job. You absolutely have no effect on my employment but have a nice day! Eyes open!
jim09091 2 years ago
Just think, if the older generation followed your suggestions you would be paying a helluva lot more taxes., and local businesses that need their support would dwindle. Fortunately I dont live in Florida and rarely visit. Have some compassion for your neighbors son. Someday you might get a little older and above all more mature.
casualkenny 2 years ago
Kenny, actually I would be glad to pay a "helluva" lot more taxes. Fortuantely, you don't live in Florida. I wouldn't visit... much too hot and I am sure you would complain. I am not your son by the way. Of course I "might get a little older"... it is called aging. I just hope I don't become bitter, nasty and condescending like some of the "old" people do.
I don't know why people cannot read. It is taught in *most* states.
jim09091 2 years ago
I know your not my son, he is respectful of his elders. I do visit, I have huge family in Naples and good friends in Venus Beach, West Palm, and the keys, and I have never complained. I just wouldn't want to retire there.
Your right, it is much too hot, especially in August. From what I read you are already "bitter, nasty and condescending" so I guess you don't have to worry about changing when you mature. good luck with that!
casualkenny 2 years ago 2
After reading the most recent comments on this page I have come to the conclusion you should ignore jim and not let his whining bother you. He seems to have a problem, doesn't appear to be a people person and more than likely doesn't play well with others. Peace.
maxgxlis4you 2 years ago
I don't have any problems, thank you. I don't know why bitter, old people keep personally responding to comments. I can't help it that they angry (probably because of their declining property values!!!). I play just fine with others. Amazing that you now know me... I didn't realize you now know who I am from a few comments.
jim09091 2 years ago

I wouldn't call it bias, I would call it the truth. I have lived here for more than 20 years and the description he gives isn't bias, it's just a description. Hmmm...let's see. If I were homeless, where would I chose to live? Underneath an overpass in Ohio, Michigan, or maybe New York? Only in the summer months! There are more people moving to Florida than those who pay taxes.
ajinusa 2 years ago
most of the crime is from the individuals who have live in the SW for some time.

Florida has become terrible wit the snowbirds. Thye crowwd the restaurants, stores, roads, Doctor and dentist office. They overuse our resources and then go home. Can't stand them!!!!
caleerm 2 years ago
We snow birds pump hundreds of millions, maybe billions of dollars into your economy each year going to restaurants, theaters, retail stores, etc. If it werent for us many of these businesses would go under and you would probably have a state income tax. Many of us also have homes there and pay real estate taxes just like you. By the way Florida is good for only 3 to 4 months a year, otherwise it sucks,

Florida could be a paradise if the people would rise up and exterminate all of the vile filthy yankees.
AbuBakerSmith 2 years ago
LOL.. Oh yeah? Then what would you use for cash flow?
classicbuzz01 2 years ago
Good question. Since the yankee devils have destroyed the natural economy replacing it with their retirement funds, elimination of said funds would present a problem. 1 short term solution which is not only the most practical but the most expedient would be to utilize yankee scalps as currency though the rampant balding of this group along with the massive amounts of hair plugs might render this option invalid as a long term monetary policy. The solution will certainly require some thought.
AbuBakerSmith 2 years ago
This is such a strong argument that I would have to agree totally! I went down to Florida a couple of years ago and retrieved my yankee dad from paradise and injected him into the cold hell of the upper midwest winters. I guess you would have to call it Karma. :)
