I was in fire school with that flores kid lol. Being an army firefighter does suck in a lot of ways. At least it does on my base. We can't get decent dependable equipment at all. Our one engine we have won't come close to passing a pump test, and the 1982 chevy hand-me-down rescue is in the shop every other week. If I knew back when I joined what I know now, I never woul dhave joined the guard. I would have went active for sure
@gammafirebug1 I'm surprised the funding is that out of whack. When I was active USAF, our planes were shit compared to the illustrious planes the ANG had. Since they received such limited funds, they kept their C130s in pristine condition.
@gmsquared believe me it is... THe indiana national guard's base, Camp Atterbury was supposedly one of the "premeir" mob sites for soldiers marines navy and air force troops... They got tens of millions of dollars and wouldnt even put me thru a $300 EMT class.... That and our first out engine was mechanically incapable to throw water... We used that same rig for aircraft emergencies by the way.......
i hear being a military firefighter SUCKS. from what i hear it is so boring since there aren't many base fires. ( but thats just what i hear from AF firefighters.
Its no longer 21M its 12M now... Also to those who say its being faded out: I'm in Afghanistan OEF 2010 - 2011 as a 12M Firefighter. We mainly work on the Airfields with the Airforce and some Marines. As well as, DA is asking for alot more people to join up but Its hard for them when people start spearding these rumors around....
In 1984 I tried to re-up as a firefighter, 51M in those days. The re-enlistment NCO just chuckled at me! So, after my ETS I got on with a civilian department. This summer I will start my 24th year. 24 down, one to go. SHORT!! I still miss the Army from time to time. Keep safe you guys and gals. Sgt. Carter 11Bc2, 1980-1984.
This mos doesn't exist anymore.

@eyesack9 Sure it does well at least in Puerto Rico does. I have a friend that enlisted and his MOS is 21M Firefighter but he is in the Reserve.
