I feel like, given the opportunity of having such outstanding speakers together, they could have made their cases more directed to what is actually harmful about religion, but instead they seem to generalize and sometimes border on the question of existence. Of course, they still made very strong cases and I would like to see how the other panelists countered it.
I like Hitchens but Richard Dawkins will always be my absolute idol, because of him I am and always will be an atheist. I can't thank him enough for that.
. . . continued from previous . . . My mother taught me how to read before I even started school, and we had a house full of books. By the time I was only in the 3rd grade I was already reading at high school level. My mother encouraged my interest in science. Ancient religious texts describes a flat earth with the sky being a dome. Science reveals a far more beautiful and complex universe on a far grander scale than the boring ho-hum version depicted in the BUY-BULL!!!
When I was a kid growing up, I was raised a Christian, and went to Sunday school. Back then, when I was only in the second grade, I could not buy into the Genesis account. It's just didn't sound real to me. Then I checked out my first astronomy book from my grade school library, and after that, I was hooked! I wanted to read more. My suspensions were confirmed. While I didn't stop believing in a God right away, I certainly stopped believing everything in the BUY-BULL!!! - to be continued . . .
I have to say the combination of Dawkins, Hitchens, and Grayling is practically a dream team. Toss in Sam Harris, Dan Barker or Matt Dillahunty and it's game over.
Neil and Carl would complete this circle and the whole universe would behold.

it's funny watching how much better hitchens is at speaking and arguing than dawkins
redryan20000 3 months ago
@redryan20000 of course, dawkins is a biologist and hitchens was a journalist.
OpethNation 1 month ago
@OpethNation not to mention that in his youth, hitchens life practically revolved around debating at oxford and speaking at rallys.

@fusedchromosome 'Dream team'? more like a theists nightmare :)

@fusedchromosome Nice touch with Matt Dillahunty, who new that a public television host could relay the atheist position so sincerely.
