  • whut? ...are you british or bostonian ..

  • My parents would never pay for my Nikon. I'm 13 and I had to buy it myself.

  • Thank you so much for this review, I'm buying it because its cheap reliable and pretty awesome. Can't wait to take loads of photo's & thanks for talking about the features and buttons really helped(: I'll send you some pictures I take when I get my camera.

  • It is not a bad little camera the Nikon D60. Sadly you can't use non-motorised lens on it body with Auto-focus. and it only has 3 Auto focus points. I sold my D60 on eBay last month (I got two Years service out of it) an upgraded to a Nikon D7000. It was like selling a Vauxhall Corsa and buying a Mercedes. Don't take this the wrong way The D60 is a great "First DSLR" But you will soon outgrow it.

  • how much was your camera? :)

  • does the nikon d40 or d60 take videos?

  • @deumic141 no unfortunately it cant ... but if you want a camera similar to nikon d60 that can take video's you should check out nikon d90.. =D

  • @deumic141 good question excatly whut i wanna know...

  • nice fake accent

  • Great review!

I am currently saving up for my first SLR camera soon.

Is the D80 worth the extra money over the D60?

  • are you able to see the what you're shooting through the lcd?

  • His computer gets hacked at 3:25

  • 1:14 THATS WHAT SHE SAID

  • Nice review :)

    I have a D60 too..

  • The D3000 probably wasnt out when he originally got his D60

  • I like your review better. :D Thanks alot!

  • Thanks Elliot! I got a d60 last year for xmas and a 55-200 lense and a sb600 speed light this year! I don't like reading the manual so you really help me out!

  • Haha its not fake. I was born in England and moved to the US 4 years ago.

  • do you like photography or are you a spoilt rich kid?

  • I like photography.

  • @ElliottMediaGroup and @matsui2001 I'm not taking digs i'm justing asking because theres a rcih kid in my school has like 5k worth of photography gear and he isn't even into it

  • @CqWeAkYcAmZ

    Why are you jelious.

It makes you look so bitter and sad.

  • @CqWeAkYcAmZ

i wouldnt say hes spoilt because hes like saying hes thankful for it and stuff,

    doesnt sound spoilt too me!

  • no offense but the first 4 pages of pics were horribly boring. but the rest were pretty cool

  • Canon or nikon ... Nikon is better for beginners especially the d60

  • nikon has dominated the camera market

    since 2000

  • great review :)

  • Heey

Im thinking of buying an DSLR, but I'm confused about what I'm gonna buy.

    Sony, Canon or Nikon.

That one that you showed seems pretty cool.

    Can you help me?

  • i have cannon but nikons are real nice too

  • Can anyone tell me whats the difference between the D40x and the D60, at the moment I have a D40x and wondering if its worth upgrading to the D60

  • not at all. it's basically the same camera.

  • Yup, they are very similar cameras.

  • What is up with the accent..

  • I just bought a D60 yesterday and I noticed something that kinda bothers me, (mostly because I don't know if its a problem).

But when I capture a picture and look at it on the preview screen, then the bright areas of the image keeps flashing with black..

  • erm, secret misery,

    its is actually a highlight

you can view the normal picture by pressing up or down button until the highlight, description and stuff of the pic is off

btw sorry for the bad english

  • Ohh... I didn't know that! I thought it was a bug or pixel-problem.. Thank you very much for the info!!

  • That's a setting which identifies areas in the image that may be better managed using the "D-Lighting" capbilities of the camera. I think the instructions for enabling/disabling this are in the manual - just look under "D-Lighting".

  • ...and no - it's not a problem, just a setting.

  • that's not a problem, that's a cool function. be happy.

  • <3 ur voice

  • those photos are clear good job keep it up

  • Elliott,

I was wondering if you could help me out. I bought a D60 and did not come with the software mainly because it was second hand. What is the software that came with your camera when your parents bought it for you.

The other problem I am having is, how to download pictures. It seems to me that it is imperative to have the software before you can even think about downloading pictures from it.

    Thanks and great videos...

  • My friend, this christmas try and get a Telescope 114mm and a Barlow 2x Reflex Adapter! I've got it, and the results are amazing with long exposures! you've got a really nice present!!

  • 18-55 i think is like 3x or something

  • What is the zoom like on the 18-55 mm lens? Could you compare it to an optical, say 10x?

  • im just starting and i know pretty much nothing about this but im going to tak action pics for surfing what should i get for a camera

  • Your accent is really weird, its a mix between a english accent and american one....nice review btw.

  • hey buddy..can u telll me..which mode is the best to take beautiful picss..

  • Hey elliot, I just ordered my Nikon d60, I got a body only, but I also got a nikon 50mm 1.8 lense, very good lense, it is supposed to take very clear pictures. I have a question about iso, aperature, and shutter speed settings. What would you recommend for well lit outdoor golf photos? Also, how about portraits with vivid color, what settings would you reccomend? Thank you in advance, -David

  • an also does it come with the memory card as well, or you have to buy that?

  • hey thank you for the review it helped a lot.

when you buy it on amazon does it come with the battery, and battery charger?

  • Ha i like how you read the modes.

  • Whats the sd card... like sd professional detail please i like to kno the version of the card thanks

  • You shouldn't take so long to click in the lens after you remove the camera cover. You'll get dust on the sensor which is a BIG headache.

  • Your Picture on Flickr are awsome Were those all taken with the Nikon D60

  • I would also like to have this camera.

  • you meen DSLR

  • same thing.

  • do you think vr is necessary

its much more expensive and I would like to avoid it. what do you think?

  • Do u use tripods? If u don't use tripods or stay still like a statue, VR might be a good thing.

  • why do you drop in and out of a british accent?

  • he could be a british born guy that was brought over to the states...idk, but don't criticize him for that, it's an 11 out of 10 vid, great review!!

  • yes

    its a great camera

    i love it

  • so, your from LA area? that's cool, recommend going to the getty? what about the Huntington Gardens?

  • always talking so much?!

  • Comment removed

  • erm you kinda messed up on posting the pics you made with the Nikon, could you post them cause im probobaly gona get this camera soon, thanks.

  • i was wondering if the hood for the 55-200 lens came with it or not.. or did you have to buy it separate

  • ritz camera has a package (great deal) with two lenses

  • did you get the kit? with 2 lenses?

  • Santa Gave you that Present Not ur Peeps! LOL JK MAn

    NIce Camera =)

  • ElliottMB

  • 55-200 is CRAZY, how much? in dollars

  • It was around $174.

  • is it worth it?

  • childmode hihii :)

  • Hi :) I left some comments earlier. I got my camera last week and I love it :D One thing, though. Where's the video setting on the camera? (If It has one, of course)

  • where did you buy your nikonnn?

did the three lenses come in the kitt?

  • I got it from a local camera store, and it came with the two lenses in the kit.

  • How much'd it cost? Can you convert it to australia dollars? ta lol

  • And how much was it??

  • I got it as a gift so im not sure. Sorry!

  • How much was the nikon d60??you can ask you parents!!

Thank and i hope for an answer!!5*****(the 55-200mm is so cool. ILOVE IT)

  • I still have to turn my 'portret' photos on my computer. Does anyone know how I can change this?

  • Nice review :)

I think i'm going to buy my nikon d60 around august.

    5/5

  • I just got one of these a few weeks ago- It's way awesome! The link over on the right didn't work, I'd love to see some of your photos :)

  • i love the camera, but you're cute too

  • Which is better D40 OR D60? im buyiing either one this summer.

  • d60, d40's pretty old, lol. and 60 is beter.

  • me too im going with the d60 too..

  • nice.

  • you look like OBAMA but in white ^^

  • hahah

    +1 !

  • lool :)):)):)) hahaha

  • Lol! There's a first time for everything i suppose.

  • Nice review :) Thanks.

Doesn't the battery come with a battery charger? I'm getting the d60 in early July and from watching this review, it's pretty much the only thing that concerns me.

  • Have no worries, because the D60 does come with a charger for its rechargeable battery.

  • Aw good :] Thanks

  • your link doesn't work :(

  • you need a telephoto lens with the stabile shot(vr) on the nikon but they make some amazing len's for the new slrs.

  • The lense hood came with the 55-200mm lense. Sadly, it doesn't work with the 18-55mm.

  • Pretty good review mate.

    Do you like the camera?

I got mine for christmas too and im pretty happy with it.

  • I love it! Very nice quality

  • I'm currently in the process of buying a slr and the Nikon d60 is the one I have my eye set on! I was wondering how many photos you can get on your sd card and how many gb's your card is. Thanks so much!

  • i think i will buy it because it´s just a nice camera

  • good for sport photos???????

  • Although I haven't taken many "sport" photos, I have used it to take shots of birds and fast-paced action, both of which it does an excellent job at. Using a tripod also helps.

  • thank you for the information

  • Can you take pictures using the display on this camera or do you have to look through the view finder?

  • You have to use the viewfinder.

  • Well i love your new camera! i right now is using one of yor pictures as my background! thank you!

  • this is by far the best review i have been able to find anywhere. its nice to see someone who seems to give a shit

  • Hi! Among the Nikon you just described, Canon EOS 1000D and Sony A350 which one would you recommend for a beginner in photography? thanks in advance for the help!

  • I have used the D-60, Cannon EOS 1000D and the Sony A350. I say the D60 would proboly be the better beginner Camera but it depends on your preference. The egonomics of each are different so just try each of them out and see which one feels better in your hands. For me It was the D60 that won out due the comfort of its feel among other things the Nikon Name is hard to go wrong with. Sony to me is just overpriced and lense requirements for the sony are sony lenses only if iam not mistaken.

  • My mom bought me the two-lens VR kit and I'm sooo excited. I can't wait to put my hands on it. haha.

thanks Elliott. I believe I watched this video during the time when I was torn between D40 and D60. hehe. I'm glad I chose D60.

  • This isn't a good review, you just say what the d60 looks like, not what it's capable of

  • wow isnt that 300mm lens like 250 bucks?

  • I actually have a 55-200mm lens, which is about 150, but I believe the 300mm lenses are quite pricey!

  • ya thanks 4 ur review....i got this d60 4 more then half a year already but i still not sure how to use .....well i just wondering do lean it from some where in web or u got urself a clss to attend......

  • I pretty much just taught myself how to use it, I also got a couple of "Nikon School" DVDs. Another good resource is Scott Kelby's book "The Digital Photography Book"; has a lot of good tips for using your cam effectively.

  • i love your accent!!!!<3

  • Seems the US is taking away from your accent haha

And cool camera. I think I'm goign to buy the D60!

  • Thanx man, but jeez, where the hell are u from? You got one weird accent!

  • where did u get the plastic.. protection thing for your zoom lens? there wasnt one on the 18-55 so i am wondering where to get one.

  • im wanting to buy a nikon d60 and having seen this i want one even more :) thanks for great review and the pics look amazing

    cheers

  • the view finder sensors are to reduce glare entering the eye and the shutter sensor

  • Excellent review and camerah. i just purchased mine yesterday, and am still exploring all the features. The pictures you took at the Getty Center are amazing. I like the one with the water fountain the best. I have just one question, have you taken any photography classes at all? And what is the best way to get use to figure out where to use all the different functions and modes? Just take pictures with different functions to expirement.

    Thanks, Josh

  • Great video man. 5 stars!

  • LOL im starting out but i dont want a beginner one so mabe i will think about the D60 :P but im intrested in the D90 but i dont have alot of money :( ummmmmmmm lol goood vid though x

  • Waiting on Fedex to drop my D60 off. Can't wait to start taking pics.

  • Lay off man...This guy creates some great and very useful videos...have a little respect. Another great review Elliott!

  • sounds like a cock if you ask me ;)

  • you sound like a insecure about your own pathetic self if you ask me ;)

  • I've heard from a few sites that the D60 produces images that are too saturated and can make them look cartoonish, did you notice this at all? I plan on getting the D60 and I just want to make sure that I'm getting a good camera.

  • i purchased this camera last week and yes it is an amazing camera, i lov the feal to it, defently mae the right choicw

  • no you can't, sadly.

  • Comment removed

  • can it take video??

  • Sadly no, but that would be an awesome feature!! Some DSLR now have that ability (I believe the D200 is an example?)

  • great review! im about to buy my first dslr and i was thinking along the lines of nikon and i think you r review has just swayed me towards the d60! one question how much is it and how much is the seperate 55mm-200mm lense?

  • The D60 kit (includes an 18-55mm VR lense) costs $524 on Amazon. The 55-200 lens costs $156 without VR and $203 with VR

  • You can always use a battery grip if you fancy using AA batteries. Nice review! I love my D60 as well :D

  • Good review but have to disagree on one thing. The bigger the camera doesn't make you more of a professional. The eye behind the viewfinder is what makes a great picture. I have a D40 along with the D200 and both are great cameras.

  • Good point- someone with no experience and a nice camera will not take good pictures...

  • hey there i also have a Nikon d60 and it was great for starting.

i saw ur pics and u have a great eye for photography.

am at the point of moving up soon so hope you keep up the great work and trust me there are cameras that will make ur already great pictures even better in terms of detail. also you i have to point out that your working with only 3 focus points and no live view which most competitors have now. so when you move up 1 level your pictures should move up much more. good luck tho.

  • (warning: off topic) your accent keeps changing it's hard to tell if you are brittish or an american trying to act brittish it's funny. In other topics, I really want to buy this, it has stop motion which I could use

  • hey, im new to slr photography, i just bought the d60 and can't figure out how to keep the shutter open and adjust the it so i can take cave photograpy useing an external flash away from the camera, can you help?

  • Nice and helpful. Thanks.

In Flickr how did you take the photos like Mist and Mist 2.0. I'm guessing it was long exposer? Did you use a lazer pointer or something?

  • Yup, you got it. A long exposure and a flashlight with a small bulb or laser pointer created those images. It's pretty fun!

  • Cool. Thanks for replying.

  • hey

nice review. in good and easy english, so it was able for me to understand everything wich is in

1 of 1000 videos. oh and very good photos!!

    mfg

  • Hy Eliot!

Iam a newbie in photography. Do you recomend d60 for me? :) or k200d? :P

  • Get a D40 :)

  • ya it does.

  • Hello ElliottMediaGroup. Thanks for your review on the Nikon D60. I ordered mine and then started looking at the youtube videos while waiting for its delivery. It came on 1-15-2009. Just ordered a 55-200mm zoom with VR as well. Looking forward to checking out your shots. Take care.

  • Nice i got the same Camera with christmas money but i dont have the 18-200mm but that would be sick! nice review!

  • heres a tip if u dont know when taking and puting the lens on and off but ur camera face down to avoid geting any dirt or stuff that can fly in there and mess up the inside

    hope this helps:)

  • i got the same camera for xmas. i got it in gold and i got vr stock lens but i got the 55-200mm lens with vr also. but yea i love my camera. because of the camera i got a photography job

  • How long is the average battery Life?

    Or is it chargeable?

    -Mike

    :]

I'm new to this "Camera" Stuff.

  • The D60 takes a rechargable battery made by Nikon. I found it lasted for around 500 shots, although most of those were without flash, which will lower the number of shots per charge. You can also by extra replacement batteries if you are going on a long trip without access to charging (see amazon). Hope that helps!

  • Thank You!

This really helped me, I'm getting real interested in photography. And This particular camera I am interested in buying.

    Thanks again Elliott.

    :]

  • i think you have a faulty battery cuz i have taken 1200 in one day and got 3 bars of battery life which is full... so i dont kno about the battery you got

  • Thats an awesome camera, your gallery looks great. I'm actually flying through the LA airport tomorrow, too bad I don't have time tour the area at all.

  • I just recently got this camera and I have to say it is by far the best... I compared it with the canon rebel and its crap! the canon that is. it is so flimsy u feel like ur gonna drop it and the lense is gonna break but with this camera u fell like nothing bad will every gonna happen.

  • That sounds cool. If you want to save a little cash you might be able to pick up an 18-55 and 55-200 lenses separately rather than buying the 18-200 which I believe is more expensive.

  • Hi Elliott, I am not much into special cameras, however, as a teacher I just love your tutorials. I will pass on the info if anyone is interested in getting the Nikon D60

    Keep up the great work!

  • Good question- I have taken a few of stars and they came out pretty cool (slow shutter speed necessary, you should take a look at the optional remote control). I'll try the moon some time soon- I'd imagine it should come out pretty neat.

  • could you confirm that the 18-55 kit lens has AF?

    thanks

  • Yes, the 18-55 kit lens has AF- very useful!

  • yea bro the nikon d60 is a hell of a camara. if u have myspace u can see some of my photography with me using the d60. i love mines nice review man
