That ball is so interesting! I have a slightly smaller ball that will work for that too, I'll give it a try. Burnt umber is a perfect color for an organic feel, it's a gorgeous brown with hints of red. It should work great with that green (My Masters is in art/painting). You should open them up and play with them a bit to get a feel for how they work together. It should dry fast but will stay tacky for a few days if it's too thick.
Depending on her size she might want 2... The weakest spot on our cast is where my breast are and directly underneath. We added so many strips to it too b/c I could feel it weak when he had done it. But we ran out of strips. I'm not a large breasted gal so depending on ur sister she might just want to pick up some extra materials at the craft store or order 2. Depending on that and her belly size
hi there i did my placental print with indian ink, it is the best thing to get all the intrakinsies and what you do is pour the ink into bowl and you need 16 0z of the ink well you squeeze out blood and then place placenta in bowl with ink and let it soak up about hour and squeeze again and you will have a gorgeous print , goood luck i hope birth goes smoothly
he should kick you inside you while doing the caste. that way your belly would make the cast unique. a baby kicking inside your body would make a great cast
crap! my comment didn't show up from yesterday! well anyway, I just suggested that you get a protective-coating spray to spray on the finished product of your placenta print. Just from my experience with paintings I've done on canvas, the chemicals do break down over time and also its good to protect it from fading from sunlight and its also easier to clean the dust/dirt off over time if you don't have to worry about damaging the surface as much.
I hope he waits to come until the belly cast is done! Are you planning on showing the placenta art when its done? Im curious to see what it comes out like.
Acrylic paint works well on canvas...I am not sure how well it adheres to placenta though....I have never painted with placenta! Haha...but it should be fine...you might want to get some sealant to put over it after making the print..just be sure to wait until the paint is completely dry before you apply the sealant...it will make it last longer! Good luck on the labor and delivery!
Id roll the paint on with a paint roller, persoanlly i think it would be easier and youd have more control over where the paint goes.
I hope u get the cast done before he comes!!! Id be devastated if i didnt have time to do it when im preg :( I missed out w/ my son and i def dont wanna miss out again!!!
I know you didnt ask about this, but maybe you can get some kind of finishing spray to set the paint and go over it as a kind of protected (from sun, water dust, or just the chemicals breaking down over the years). I wish I had done that with some of my canvas paintings b/c there is no good way to clean them when they get all dusty and the do fade in the sunlight. You're hangin' in there great Lucy! Almost there!
so i've never done a placenta print, but i paint, so here are my thoughts on the paint you got, for what it's worth: i think the acrylic was a good choice because you get a lot of texture with it so you should be able to get a lot of detail from the placenta if you decide to do a straight print (like you just put the placenta on the canvas and then lift it back up). keep in mind though, it really is liquid acrylic-once it dries, it's basically plastic.
sorry, tried to post a contd. but i guess it didn't take it. sorry it sounded so gruff since i got cut off! just wanted to warn you not to pour out the whole bottle at once if you want to be able to go back and add stuff later bc you need to add a retardant to keep it from drying up in the tray if youre spending a lot of time on it. anyway, i just wanted to say that you can PM me if you have any other paint concerns. i don't have kids yet so it's exciting to finally be helpful in some way haha.
yes, do a video of you guys painting with the placenta or at least one of the finish products! i find it so interesting! i know you'll be busy as a bee, but please keep making videos after the little man arives!
hahaha Yah I know... I just can never remember and end up screwing it up and making a fool of my self, so I don't even bother, lol U tell me how to say it now, but by 2morrow I wont even remember. That's not pregnancy brain.. it's just I dunno my brain and that word DONT get along, ha
what the hell is a placenta print? i mean, that is kinda disggusting. sorry.

by month 3 she was a 34D and she was a 34B before pregnancy.

The 1 cast should be enough, she might need a little extra, but it really depends on what she plans on doing w/ the cast after wards.
