Diana Dors was a stunning beauty but the reason I admire her so much is that in later life she wasn't afraid to play less glamorous roles, and, if anything, I think she had a greater fan following later in life. Having said that, she was also robbed of an Oscar for her performance in 'Yield to the night' which she made while still young.
Her warmth, wit and personality endeared her to the British public. That and her undoubted acting ability: in her "blonde bombshell" days she confounded critics with an astonishing performance in 1956's Yield To The Night , and in character roles later on, she'd 'ugly up' (long before it became a mark of acting integrity for pretty actresses) and again win plaudits for her work. A lovely woman, she was greatly loved and is sadly missed.
I always loved Diana glamorous sexy and a great actress, Diana was brilliant as a character actress, she scared me a lot in Mr Blunden. I have the upmost respect for her as a Lady and her zest for life was infectious MISS YOU LOADS.
She was an adorable person in every way and had a real zest for life. Always was my favorite. Cute and gorgeous. Awesome! I will never forget her. An inspiring sweetheart. Miss you.
her sexy look may have hurt is carrier as an actress cause she was much more than a bomshell .she had become a good character actress in the way of Shelley Winters unfortunately
she was not given always the good role in good movies
except in some like Yield to the night and deep end
@gdawsonla Your mother was a VERY beautiful woman, and not just physically, I watched her life story after seeing these pictures, Diana seemed like a very sweet, genuine, down to earth person who knew her figure was her meal ticket and rode it for all it was worth!! Diana i believe is who Marilyn Monroe kind of borrowed from for her blond bombshell act, but took it one step further by "playing" the dumb blond personified....lol....These were the first pics i ever saw of Diana and i was in awe!

under-rated throughout her career;should have taken off after 'yield to the night';
(had she been allowed to!); this video masterful re synchronization of sound/
stills/vocal/spirit - quite extraordinary really! the photo of her & pooch i feel is
her REAL self, not dramatic/showbiz; want to see her in a really under-the-
radar film: 'berserk' 1967 - she acts Jcrawford right off the silver screen!

Ok. Sonia. When you see your mother in Yield to the Night by Carol Reed you begin to respect her as an actress.

'The Shop At Sly Corner' is 'Code Of Scotland Yard', is it not?
Wonderful tribute to Diana Dors.
It's a shame she passed away at such a young age.

May I ask just who the singer is on this compilation? I can not find a female singer who sang this song this smoothly and slowly.

she was incredibly beautiful but I really don't see anything that seperates her from Mansfield and Van Doren

Back in her day she was a hottie. I still can't get over her looks back in the 40's and 50's.

I didn't know that this was linked up with Frank Sinatra, my Dad loved this woman when she was younger and we have a photo of him by her grave.
