thats wicked dude...i love the 55-57 belairs....and damn good job shiftin between gears and not movin....kinda hard to do in a manual car....what kinda motor...cause in 4th it didnt even bog or have a stutter and thats not easy to do unless u produce mass power or have 4;56 gears..later buddy...i have a 55 sedan delivery and a 57 gasser ...keep the tires companies in buisness,burn em off:)P

I paid $100 for a 55 Coupe in 76 when I was sixteen. I put a 500hp 396 with a tunnelram in it. I backed it with a M-22 4 speed and a Pontiac rear with 4.88 gears. I also had these tall cheater slicks under it. Even did the wiring and suspension. No seat belts. Almost no brakes. 16 and just nuts! All the cops knew me. I made $1.80 an hour working the Mobil station. Payed for & built the car all by myself. Now I can't afford to put gas in my 1990 Infiniti, let alone fix it. What the hell happened?

Why would you treat your car like that? If its yours do what you want but i wouldnt treat a 50+ year old car like that , Have some respect for the car and its history. I agree ,old cars are nothing anymore. anyone with enuf money can have one turned into a street rod, back in the old days when everyone you seen behind the wheel was also the person that did all the work on the car! Thats not the case so much anymore, people run around beating the hell out of these cars and have never put a wrench on them. Only thing better than the burnout was the shifting!Do you have a rev limiter or did you let off the gas pedal while the shifts took place. Or did you not use the clutch just RPM power shifted
damn that is the best car ever, nothing better then good ol' american iron. my grandpas 57' would actually have to push it for once if he was against you. i think you would win though if that 383 is built, his 396 is only puttin down a drip over 500
