Joe you've been very helpful, thank you so much for all your tips and lessons, I don't understand why these people comment on the "60 seconds" thing, or they show hate towards, when you're doing nothing wrong but trying to help us. Thank you!
@Charliedethklok7 Thanks, Charlie! When you put yourself out there, there will always be those that feel posting hate is a fun thing to do. They've got nothing better to do. Oooops!! Sounds like I'm hating on haters!! LOL
Thanks a lot for your videos, they're really helpful !
I was wondering, when doing you're exercise in the EADG way, it's easy because when you pluck a string it stops the one before, but when doing the other way around how do you keep all the strings from vibrating at the same time.
@Simpsonsfan1993 Thank you so much for the kind words! There is a lot involved with plucking, muting, attack, and on and on. There could be a much longer video on this subject. As for your question, that is a fretting hand muting technique. As soon as you pluck, the fretting hand does its job of controlling the length of time the string will vibrate. It's a dance. Takes coordination, and patience to get your hands in sync. All the best!
@CoolBear777 hey i got a question? basically for plucking it really is just dragging your fingers? and i use 3 fingers when i got fast alot of the time my ring finger stumbles like its tripping how do i fix that?
joe, all those cool jazz bass players use their third finger to pluck a lot of times. how can i develop my third finger skills, and do i actually need to develop third finger plucking skills?
I have a video on 3-Finger technique. That might be a good place to start if you want to get into that sort of thing. It is not at all necessary to learn it. I know of great jazz players who only use two. Sometimes only one. I offer any of my videos as food for thought. I am not an authority on these things. There are many things to learn from all players. Take what you can from everyone. I sure do. All the best
Whenever I pluck as I'm sitting down and playing I tend to bend my wrists a lot. This doesn't really create a great deal of discomfort but I like a smooth tone so I play at the very last pickup in my bass guitar(the one closest to the bridge). When I play standing up I bend my wrists as well but to a lesser extent than that of when I sit down. I also like to put my bass up kind of high. Will this give me problems in my wrist or playing later on?

is it ok to pluck the strings closer to the bridge instead of in the middle of the body.
bassnotsomaster 2 years ago
Absolutely! Play all over. You'll get different tones.
CoolBear777 2 years ago
Yeah, you can pluck the strings anywhere you want if it's comfortable for you and you like the tone.

"Bass in 60 seconds". I love that name/slogan.

I do, too. Funny, it seems I can't keep them that short anymore. LOL
