now you see, this guy does a good Joker that isn't a copy of Mark Hamill's Joker... And WAAY better than the shithead that did the voice of Joker in Young Justice. God he sucked.
heheheheeheeeh, someone oughta put together scenes of this Joker, with Smiling Jack, from Vampire THe Masquerade Bloodlines. heh, Johnny was a funny guy here, and he's a funny guy there. gots killer teeth in both of them, and in at least one he actually does use them to kill people hehehehhahaaah!! don't know if thats the same with this guy, eh probably, this is the Joker, we speak of after all.
i could tell it was DiMaggio right away xD i could hear bender in there :P but he did a fairly good job, i like how much more sadistic this movie was for being apart of the animated ones ;D
this is a great movie, the only complaint i have with it is te jokers voice, it just seems more like a thugs voice then an insane criminal mastermind, maybe i'm just too familiar with Mark Hammil joker voice
Why this tries so hard to copy anime? Why the american animation industries when moved from Japan to Korea or national animation units tries so hard and fail? God damned.
I showed my friend who was actually beaten by his dad severely for not finishing his homework on time this movie. At the beginning when the Joker was beating the shit out of him and then said "Okay kiddo I gotta go, It's been fun though right? Be a good boy, finish your homework and be in bed by 9.". My friend just says "My dad" and we can not stop laughing.
All this movie was missing was when Jason told Joker how much easier it is to think of him crazy when he plays the part of an insane clown which makes Joker sit there silent.
I dunno. I like John DiMaggio as The Joker. Mark Hamill was great, don't get me wrong, the voice of animated Joker of my childhood and peerless in my estimation. No one can touch his work. But, the sell of John as The Joker is that Mark's Joker is plain crazy, where John's Joker is dark, with crazy on the side. Both versions are of a dangerous lunatic, but taken to very different extremes. I like both takes on The Joker.
this is scary and sad.... Joker just beat a teenager with a crowbar almost to death and blows him up.. this movie depicts joker on what he's really like
@Cybergamer57 seriously bro! shut up with all the Chuck Norris shit it's really annoying. it's gotten old, but yeah that would be pretty hilarious. :)
@gheith001 Futurama. Bender the bending robot orders everyone to "Bite his shiny ass" or variations on that. Ironically, in Under the Red Hood Bender's voice actor, John Di Maggio, voiced Joker.
i was reading the comments and since i didnt see the video it sound like a rape scene. then when i scrolled up, he's leaving the room telling him to be a good boy. haha
@robajack1 Ummm I'm not a fag, actually far from it. And I was talking about the actual sound effects not the dialogue (not until he left). Even with him saying crow bar, none of us know if anyone's been raped with a crow bar. So that comment held no relevance.
@robajack1 this has nothing to do with porn, i was just stating that for a split moment it sounded like he was getting raped since i was reading the comments before watching, and if you really think my comment was a sign of my mind in the gutter, then you must've not been exposed to the real "mind in the gutter" comments of youtube because there's alot worse then this.
@robajack1 Alot of youtubers actually, theres many things under the video that prepare us for what thoughts were made towards videos. In addition to that we usually want to see the like/dislike bar so we know ahead of time before watching whether the chances of the video being something fake or annoying are likely or not. What's wrong with that?
@Blasted2Oblivion Because there IS no gag to be seen here-- Joker is just being depicted like he is in the comics when he's at his worst; a sadistic, murderous, unrepentant psychopath who gleefully delights in torture and murder. That, and the fact that this is meant to be pretty much a direct translation of the exact same scene depicted in the comic A Death In The Family; a scene that itself was ANYTHING but funny.
@DorianMichaelsIII I guess the animated version of Joker has spoiled me some. I expect everything he does to be part of or immediately followed up by a joke. Much like when he kills Black Masks guards and says he needs more cause they are "kinda dead".
@Blasted2Oblivion it is considering this is coming from the comics also the joker started out as just a crazed killer the jokes and gags stuff only came out when they were creating the tas since they couldnt have the joker actually kill people i believe in one interview the writers for the show said that using the indirect methods was worse than just killing people in cold blood
Hamil's Joker only loses it's edge because Batman: The Animated Series was essentially a kid's show. They couldn't have torture scenes of this nature. You put Hamil behind a rated-R Joker and you can the best bang for your buck.
robin didn't sound very convincing when he was getting hit by the crowbar... i would have been like, 'AHHHHHHOWW' and he was kinda just like, 'ah' hahahaha but yaa the joker is amazing as always :)
Ok, everything in this scene was pretty damn awesome, but whoever dubs over Boy Blunder over here doesn't know what getting hit by a crowbar would actually feel like, otherwise he wouldn't grunt so calmly....C'mon man, it HURTS! Put some pain into those cries for goodness sake...

I was thinking the same thing. His face and his personality is obviously inspired by Heath Ledger's interpretation of the character. But his attire is clearly based on Mark Hammil's Joker.
This Joker was awesome. The only reason i watch anything with batman in the title is because of the villains, they are a lot more intresting to me then Batman.
this Joker was good, the Mark Hamil one was good, the dark Knight one was good, even cheesy adam west time Joker i though was done well
1:00 The Joker would've laughed like a maniac if Robin spat blood in his face. This guy is just an emotionally flat painted thug. He has no manic flips between euphoria and rage.
... meh... this has to be the most underwhelming and disappointing Joker I've ever seen. Too subtle and calm, not acting like a clown, his voice being COMPLETELY wrong regardless of what the other commenters says - and... really, just hitting Robin with a crowbar? How strangely unimaginitive and lame for someone claiming to be the Joker.
@kurvos My thoughts exactly. Ironically this Joker goes on to claim something to the effect that kids (younger criminals) today lack a sense of style.
@butMydesign Yeah, that IS pretty damn ironic. Glad there's people out there agreeing with me. I AM a big fan of the Batman universe - but this feels like they just didn't try to do the Joker justice. They where too busy trying to make the Joker in a new kind of way, they lost the source of why the Joker is like the Joker is.
@kurvos The Joker beating up Robin with a crowbar was originally written in a critically acclaimed comic book. So you can't say this is unimaginitive and that this movie is lame cause this is on early batman comics.
@elvampe13 Early Batman comics where lame - original writing and critical acclaims means little to nothing to me. It doesn't matter if something has it's sources - it can still suck. I care for the kind of Joker I know and love - the one from the animated series and the Arkham Asylum games and so on. If you have problems with my opinion, I can not help you. This "Joker" here is just a common lame crook.
@kurvos I agree that the voice isnt optimal (look up the "mark hamil" version of this scene for an example), however you cannot blame the movie for the way the joker acts, since it's just reproducing an exsisting comic book.
Also, yes, it's very basic and not a full on "fancy plot" like usual, but that is what gave the death it's effect. Not a big lightshow or the like, just him, and crowbar, brutally beating an underage kid to death. And more to its credit, one of the most shocking DC deaths.
@DarkTider I have changed my thoughts a bit since this comment of mine. I've actually ordered this movie on DVD to give it a fair chance. So don't worry. At least it has to be closer to the real Batman than the Nolan movies, which means a lot to me by itself.
This is one of the best portrayals of the Joker I've seen yet. Of course no one can top Mark Hamill, but DiMaggio is the next best thing. Mostly because he does an outstanding job mixing the Joker's performance with comedy and terror, something the rest of the actors couldn't quite pull off. I see it like this.
@CommElite I'd have to say that Nicholson and Hamill were basically the same, both were about epic comedy and good terror. But you're definitely right about Romero and Ledger. The one thing though that anyone can agree upon is that The Joker, no matter what film or TV incarnation you base him upon, is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, comic book villains ever.
@Cerberusballs I admit, I never watched The Batman so I couldn't accurately judge the Joker from that show, but yeah he does look goofy with with wildman hair and fighting like a gorilla, ha
@CommElite A little F.Y.I from me to you, but Tim Curry was also someone who did Joker's voice. He was the first one before Mark Hamil, but the producers of the cartoon show dropped him like a turd in the bowl because they felt his voice was to scary
The series's producers, Bruce Timm and Paul Dini, invited Hamill to read for the Joker, after he did voice-over work for a crook in an earlier episode, and when they gave him the part after the audition, the writing started to reflect their perception of Hamill's voice over work for Joker- i.e. light, comical and utterly stupid. If someone did a mature, measured voice-over for Joker, then the writing would have followed suit- and perhaps even gifted us with an origin story/tragedy.
@AcctNo4 ...Light and comical? TNBA opened with him threatening mass murder. And on the origin story/tragedy thing, IMHO, the Joker doesn't really work if we know what drives him. Even The Killing Joke was written so you weren't entirely sure whether or not the Joker was actually telling the truth.
If TNBA started like that, then it was probably the writers/producers attempts to make the Joker more serious after 85 episodes of him acting stupid in Batman: the Animated series. And Joker's origin has been established since Detective comics #168 (1951): he was a chemical engineer who, during a night of robbery at his work place, falls into a vat of acid whilst wearing the red hood persona and fatefully becomes the Joker. That's been the core story for 60 odd years.
@AcctNo4 He also stole an atomic bomb during BTAS. And that's an origin, sure, but it's not a true explanation for why he went his particular brand of crazy, not enough for a full episode, and kinda boring compared to every other villain origin in BTAS.
@AcctNo4 Also, while I still stand by my comment that a true definite pre-Red Hood backstory doesn't really work for the Joker, he did have one in BTAS. Mask of the Phantasm said pre-Joker he'd been the assassin that killed Andrea Beaumont's father.
That was a brief scene where you see pre-joker standing outside a house and flicking a cigarette onto a car. And the idea of making him a gangster in The Mask of the Phantasm (before he became Joker) came from the Jack Nicholson Batman (1989) film where he was the gangster, Jack Napier. He still falls into the vat of acid, though- even though the live-action film (wisely) omitted all that Red Hood stuff.
The 1951 origin doesn't need to explain why he went mad. Wouldn't you go a little nuts if you emerged from a vat of chemicals and your hair was green, your skin was white, and your mouth was morphed into a persistent grin? He was already a criminal (red hood) before he became joker, but looking like that pushed him over the edge. He is just acting how he looks like- a freak. I don't think he is insane though- and this portrayal of joker by Dimaggio is realistic.
Yikes that is a boring voice for the Joker. Can barely make the laugh work, and he sounds more like a common mob thug than the psychotic madman he's suppose to be.
Is there a reason why Joker removed Robin's boots and gloves?

Hamill is the best Joker voice actor, but DiMaggio still does the role justice. The laugh actually isn't too shabby either.

holy shit i cant elieve i found myself cringing at this everytime joker crowbarred robin. and im usually desensitiized to violence
sjconker64 6 months ago
This Joker was awesome. The only reason i watch anything with batman in the title is because of the villains, they are a lot more intresting to me then Batman.
this Joker was good, the Mark Hamil one was good, the dark Knight one was good, even cheesy adam west time Joker i though was done well
newguy54321 6 months ago
1:00 The Joker would've laughed like a maniac if Robin spat blood in his face. This guy is just an emotionally flat painted thug. He has no manic flips between euphoria and rage.

... meh... this has to be the most underwhelming and disappointing Joker I've ever seen. Too subtle and calm, not acting like a clown, his voice being COMPLETELY wrong regardless of what the other commenters says - and... really, just hitting Robin with a crowbar? How strangely unimaginitive and lame for someone claiming to be the Joker.
kurvos 6 months ago
@kurvos My thoughts exactly. Ironically this Joker goes on to claim something to the effect that kids (younger criminals) today lack a sense of style.
butMydesign 6 months ago
@butMydesign Yeah, that IS pretty damn ironic. Glad there's people out there agreeing with me. I AM a big fan of the Batman universe - but this feels like they just didn't try to do the Joker justice. They where too busy trying to make the Joker in a new kind of way, they lost the source of why the Joker is like the Joker is.
kurvos 6 months ago
@kurvos The Joker beating up Robin with a crowbar was originally written in a critically acclaimed comic book. So you can't say this is unimaginitive and that this movie is lame cause this is on early batman comics.
elvampe13 6 months ago
@elvampe13 Early Batman comics where lame - original writing and critical acclaims means little to nothing to me. It doesn't matter if something has it's sources - it can still suck. I care for the kind of Joker I know and love - the one from the animated series and the Arkham Asylum games and so on. If you have problems with my opinion, I can not help you. This "Joker" here is just a common lame crook.
kurvos 6 months ago
@kurvos Meant to say ''this scene is based on that early comic book''.
elvampe13 6 months ago
@kurvos I agree that the voice isnt optimal (look up the "mark hamil" version of this scene for an example), however you cannot blame the movie for the way the joker acts, since it's just reproducing an exsisting comic book.
Also, yes, it's very basic and not a full on "fancy plot" like usual, but that is what gave the death it's effect. Not a big lightshow or the like, just him, and crowbar, brutally beating an underage kid to death. And more to its credit, one of the most shocking DC deaths.
DarkTider 6 months ago
@DarkTider I have changed my thoughts a bit since this comment of mine. I've actually ordered this movie on DVD to give it a fair chance. So don't worry. At least it has to be closer to the real Batman than the Nolan movies, which means a lot to me by itself.
kurvos 6 months ago
Sure he doesn't sound like Hamill, but I don't think he has to. He's definetly different from other animated Jokers, for which I commend him.
0ReMaker0 6 months ago
i like the laugh while he's leaving.

the voice is lame...but the act is amazing...joker finally shows why he's the clown prince of crime

The voice is not great, but the writing is. Finally the Joker gets to do some real brutalizing.

you know I wouldn't mind this becoming a series. Sure this joker isn't Mark Hamill,....but pretty darn close

Caesar Romero: All comedy
Jack Nicholson: Mostly comedy
Mark Hamill: Epic comedy and good terror
Heath Ledger: Mostly terror, some comedy
John DiMaggio: Excellent balance of both
CommElite 7 months ago 85
@CommElite I'd have to say that Nicholson and Hamill were basically the same, both were about epic comedy and good terror. But you're definitely right about Romero and Ledger. The one thing though that anyone can agree upon is that The Joker, no matter what film or TV incarnation you base him upon, is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, comic book villains ever.

@mblood93 yeah Joker is awesome ^^

@CommElite What about the silly "The Batman" version? The WB clown with the long hair and the straight jacket?
Cerberusballs 5 months ago
@Cerberusballs I admit, I never watched The Batman so I couldn't accurately judge the Joker from that show, but yeah he does look goofy with with wildman hair and fighting like a gorilla, ha

his voice actor was a black guy i forget his name
shelby4369 4 months ago
@CommElite A little F.Y.I from me to you, but Tim Curry was also someone who did Joker's voice. He was the first one before Mark Hamil, but the producers of the cartoon show dropped him like a turd in the bowl because they felt his voice was to scary
XXLSSBBW 4 months ago
@CommElite
hamill's joker is too predictable- you know how he is going to act: i.e. stupid!
AcctNo4 4 months ago
@AcctNo4 that was the writing, the voice and the laugh were incredible.
SirTimbo 4 months ago
@SirTimbo
AcctNo4 4 months ago
@AcctNo4 ...Light and comical? TNBA opened with him threatening mass murder. And on the origin story/tragedy thing, IMHO, the Joker doesn't really work if we know what drives him. Even The Killing Joke was written so you weren't entirely sure whether or not the Joker was actually telling the truth.
radioactivearachnid 4 months ago
@radioactivearachnid
AcctNo4 4 months ago
@AcctNo4 He also stole an atomic bomb during BTAS. And that's an origin, sure, but it's not a true explanation for why he went his particular brand of crazy, not enough for a full episode, and kinda boring compared to every other villain origin in BTAS.
radioactivearachnid 4 months ago
@AcctNo4 Also, while I still stand by my comment that a true definite pre-Red Hood backstory doesn't really work for the Joker, he did have one in BTAS. Mask of the Phantasm said pre-Joker he'd been the assassin that killed Andrea Beaumont's father.
radioactivearachnid 4 months ago
@radioactivearachnid

AcctNo4 4 months ago
@radioactivearachnid
cont.
AcctNo4 4 months ago
@CommElite you forgot Kevin Michael Richardson (The Batman) and Jeff Bennet (Batman the Brave and the Bold)
Alterego912 4 months ago
@Alterego912 yeah everybody seems to drop them out simply because they're not mark hamill.

Yikes that is a boring voice for the Joker. Can barely make the laugh work, and he sounds more like a common mob thug than the psychotic madman he's suppose to be.
