@kooliekrumbz1 Considering Miles Morales even dedicates himself to be like the original Spidey...they pretty much have to make a successful, or more-so then what they had, Spider-Man franchise before they make a Miles Morales one. So far, they don't even know how long Miles will be here for. If it isn't successful as a comic, they won't make a movie of it.
i am not realy a big spiderman fan but i know peter parker got bit by a spider and got his power from that. and i have read that peter and mary jane got a girl who turn out to be spider-girl when she got older. and they planing on redo the story so a black guy get the power of spiderman...ok, do that spider who turn peter in to spiderman live after all this years or what? and about the reboot...i think some of the part i have seen sucks, but i gona see it any way and i think i gona like it ^^
the fucked up on the venom yes, but the story was perfectly cast accept for Mary Jane... the new one... every character just looks wrong for the part, cept for the cop, and emma stones part...

The idea of Miles Morelas is not that bad. But they shouldn't have made him the predecessor after peter parkers death. Instead, they should've made Miles a guest appearance in a comic issue where Peter is in a "near death" situation where he honestly couldn't save himself... Keep (Peter Parker) Spider -Man, and make Miles Morelas a cameo.

Remember, Peter Parker is still alive in the original Marvel universe, and this movie is called 'The Amazing Spider Man,' not 'Ultimate Spider Man.' If the reboot is taking its cues from the standard Marvel universe and not the Ultimates, then you won't see Peter die and get replaced by Morales in this current movie franchise because Miles Morales doesn't exist in the regular Marvel Universe.
@44excalibur Oh yeah, LOL. By the way, they're basing it heavily on a mixture of the Ultimate and Amazing universes. Ultimate Spider-Man and the Amazing Spider-Man have been some of the most (Quite possibly THE most popular) popular comic books ever produced. It's a lot like the Spectacular Spidey TV series, since that's also a blend of Amazing and Ultimate universes. They even brought Brian Michael Bendis in to talk about the story, and brought (rumored) Mark Bagley to help design the costume.

The Peter Parker from the regular Marvel Universe is still alive. I never read Ultimate Spider Man because that Peter Parker was a stranger to me and not much like the Peter I grew up with from the Amazing Spider Man titles.
@44excalibur Yeah, but the regular Marvel Universe has pretty much been the Ultimate Universe, in the past 12 years. The Ultimate Spider-Man and the Ultimates comics have outsold the majority of the regular Marvel and nearly all of DC since 2000. The Ultimate Spidey is almost exactly the same as the Amazing Spider-Man too, he was just 15 years old. I would really recommend trying it. There was never a dull moment. They even pulled off the fucking Clone Saga, and it was actually really good.

Besides, Ultimatum killed off half of the Ultimates characters. including Cyclops and Wolverine from the X-Men. Now that Ultimate Spider Man's Peter Parker is dead, I just don't see the point. Besides, the Marvel universe's Peter Parker is busy with the New Avengers and the Future Foundation, and has three different and cool looking costumes now. :)
@44excalibur LOL no, the reason they killed the characters and changed it to Ultimate Comics is to differentiate the two series. People thought that Ultimate Marvel was just a Marvel reboot. It caused confusion in a lot of books, so they decided to replace them with different versions of the characters. There's still a Wolverine (Wolvies son), and Quiksilver has taken his fathers place. They're just differentiating them for a newer audience. Appreciate both.

After Ultimatum there was no reason to have the Marvel brand attached to the Ultimates, which is why they are now called "Ultimate Comics" instead of "Marvel Ultimates" like they were before. Ultimates are now like New Universe and 2099. I know about Wolverine's son replacing him, which is just like Miles Morales replacing Peter Parker. I guess it's fine for newbies, but for long-time fans like me, the Marvel universe will always be "home."
@44excalibur I love the regular universe too, I grew up reading them. I just really love the Ultimate universe because it showed what COULD have been. It's like a colossal "What if the heroes hadn't shown up till the modern times?" story.

@dogface701 Well, the actual Peter Parker isn't dead, he's still alive in the Marvel comics continuity which has been around since the 1960's. The Ulitmates is an alternate universe that launched in 2000 and runs parallel to the established Marvel continuity. Example: The real Peter Parker is now a grown man in his late 20's-early 30's, was married to Mary Jane Watson, and is now a member of the New Avengers and the Future Foundation. Ultimate Peter Parker died a teenager and was never married.

It is missing a whole lot, like Gwen Stacy, the fact that spiderman couldnt shoot webs without the help of Web Shooters that he had invented, and many other things people are missing out on that were left out of the spiderman trilogy.

Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider and given superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, warning senses(Spider-Sense) and the ability to adhere to any surface from any part of his body by molecular adhesion(not velcro growing out of his skin). The mechanical web shooters and web fluid were technology that he created to supplement his own abilities.The Sam Raimi films' organic webbing was not faithful to the comics.
@44excalibur Technically it was faithful to the comics a sense, cuz he did gain the ability to produce his own webbin' after he met Ezekiel. It just wasn't faithful from an origin standpoint.
@MrSaint508 Well, in the comics Peter did gain the ability to produce his own organic webbing shortly before the Civil War storyline, but that Ezekiel storyline was mostly a reaction to what the Sam Raimi films were doing. Ezekiel first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man vol. 2 #30 in June 2001, right before the first Spider Man movie came out. Peter's webs went organic shortly after the first movie was released. So it wasn't really faithful to the comics, the comics were mimicking the movie.
@Dmanquake3 yes later he did gain the ability to shoot webs from his wrists but it wasnt until an event he caused. He tried to create a formula that would rid him of his spider abilities, but it backfired causing him to turn into a giant spider. With the help of Doctor Connors he changed back into his human form after that he was able to shoot organic webs from his wrists without the need for mechanical web shooters.

I understand that a lot of younger readers got into Ultimate Spider Man and the Ultimates titles when they came out in 2000, but for longtime readers like myself, the Ultimate comics don't really matter much. As long as the regular Marvel universe is around we're fine.

@bigrasta121 Excuse me, but Green Lantern was not "replaced by a white guy." Hal Jordan(who is white) was the original Green Lantern. He was the one who was replaced for a short time by John Stewart(who is black) in the late 1980's, and then Guy Gardner became the Lantern, followed by Kyle Rayner. Hal Jordan eventually became the Green Lantern of Earth once again. Cartoon Network's Justice League series only used the John Stewart character for diversity; he was not the original Green Lantern.

It will be a long time until we have minority superheroes as main characters in feature films. There was Blade but it wasnt claimed by Marvel until the third one. Nolan tried to have a cameo of a would-be Robin being the grandson of Lucius Fox making him black but that got shot down as well. The aversion to black superheroes has never been more evident than in XMen 1st Class. LOL they killed a black guy whose ability made him unkillable. The 'Scarlet Spider' storyline is from the main Marvel universe where Peter Parker is still alive and still Spider-Man. Tony Stark made the 'Scarlet Spider' armor for Peter during the Civil War storyline, but then created the Scarlet Spider unit after Peter defected to Captain America's side. Only the Peter Parker from the Ultimate universe is dead and replaced by Miles Morales. It's an "alternate reality."

It's like when they create a female version of a already existing super hero. It is very lazy. Soon we might see more variations of other heroes. Make new ones that EVERYBODY can be proud of. To me, making Ult Spidey black was almost a kick in the balls - and I'm half black half asian. It was as if Marvel just threw us a bone and thought we'd be happy with it. Give us a REAL ethnic superhero with his own lineage - not some Xeroxed and re-toned version of an existing one. Miles does not feel like Spiderman to me - he seems more like a poser and we all know that death in comic books are not set in stone. Parker will be back and Miles will be lucky to be delegated to sidekick.

You guys may be happy that we finally get an ethnic superhero in a leading role - I prefer to see an original one that doesn't end up getting sloppy seconds - which is what Miles is and Parker will be back. History will repeat: Antman was Asian for a while then got killed and white Antman is back.
@actracts Maybe so, I don't follow the Ultimates titles much. I've only followed the regular Marvel universe since the death of Gwen Stacy and the Secret Wars miniseries of the 1980's, as well as reading back issues. True, some characters die and come back, but Gwen Stacy and the original Captain Marvel's death pretty much stuck. I got the impression that Brian Michael Bendis is going with Morales and has no intention of bringing Ultimate Peter back, so now there's only one Peter Parker left.

I am fine with changes of a race of a character IF 1. Its not a main character. 2. The race of the character is not integral to the plot or his own personal character. Like Black Panther, you can't change him to white because he is a tribal African, it makes no sense. Totally. But unlike comic books -- I don't know how well a movie title with the word "Ultimate" in it will test with a general audience... Sounds too much like 90s EXTREEEEEEME DORITOS!!! Remember, Peter Parker is still alive in the original Marvel universe, and this movie is called 'The Amazing Spider Man,' not 'Ultimate Spider Man.' If the reboot is taking its cues from the standard Marvel universe and not the Ultimates, then you won't see Peter die and get replaced by Morales in this current movie franchise because Miles Morales doesn't exist in the regular Marvel Universe.

Ultimate Spider-Man and the Amazing Spider-Man have been some of the most (Quite possibly THE most popular) popular comic books ever produced. They even brought Brian Michael Bendis in to talk about the story, and brought (rumored) Mark Bagley to help design the costume.

The Ultimate Spider-Man and the Ultimates comics have outsold the majority of the regular Marvel and nearly all of DC since 2000. The Ultimate Spidey is almost exactly the same as the Amazing Spider-Man too, he was just 15 years old. I would really recommend trying it. There was never a dull moment. They even pulled off the fucking Clone Saga, and it was actually really good.

@44excalibur LOL no, the reason they killed the characters and changed it to Ultimate Comics is to differentiate the two series. People thought that Ultimate Marvel was just a Marvel reboot. It caused confusion in a lot of books, so they decided to replace them with different versions of the characters. There's still a Wolverine (Wolvies son), and Quiksilver has taken his fathers place. They're just differentiating them for a newer audience. Appreciate both.

The Ulitmates is an alternate universe that launched in 2000 and runs parallel to the established Marvel continuity. Example: The real Peter Parker is now a grown man in his late 20's-early 30's, was married to Mary Jane Watson, and is now a member of the New Avengers and the Future Foundation. Ultimate Peter Parker died a teenager and was never married.

Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider and given superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, warning senses(Spider-Sense) and the ability to adhere to any surface from any part of his body by molecular adhesion(not velcro growing out of his skin). The mechanical web shooters and web fluid were technology that he created to supplement his own abilities.The Sam Raimi films' organic webbing was not faithful to the comics.

@MrSaint508 Well, in the comics Peter did gain the ability to produce his own organic webbing shortly before the Civil War storyline, but that Ezekiel storyline was mostly a reaction to what the Sam Raimi films were doing. Ezekiel first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man vol. 2 #30 in June 2001, right before the first Spider Man movie came out. Peter's webs went organic shortly after the first movie was released. So it wasn't really faithful to the comics, the comics were mimicking the movie.

He tried to create a formula that would rid him of his spider abilities, but it backfired causing him to turn into a giant spider. With the help of Doctor Connors he changed back into his human form after that he was able to shoot organic webs from his wrists without the need for mechanical web shooters.

I understand that a lot of younger readers got into Ultimate Spider Man and the Ultimates titles when they came out in 2000, but for longtime readers like myself, the Ultimate comics don't really matter much. As long as the regular Marvel universe is around we're fine.

all i know is that im glad sony is trying to be alright, companies are trying to explore ideas and the only unexpected idea was to have a black spiderman, its crazy believe it or not but it is. the only good black super heroes were green lantern (replaced by a white guy) and static shock. @bigrasta121 Excuse me, but Green Lantern was not "replaced by a white guy." Hal Jordan(who is white) was the original Green Lantern. He was the one who was replaced for a short time by John Stewart(who is black) in the late 1980's, and then Guy Gardner became the Lantern, followed by Kyle Rayner. Hal Jordan eventually became the Green Lantern of Earth once again. Cartoon Network's Justice League series only used the John Stewart character for diversity; he was not the original Green Lantern.

@ariosa999 What do you mean "they took Green Lantern" away from you? The first Green Lantern was a white guy named Hal Jordan, who is the longest running and most well known Green Lantern. There have been several Green Lanterns since, including John Stewart, Guy Gardner, and Kyle Rayner. John Stewart was black, but he was only Green Lantern for a short time in the late 1980's and was replaced by Guy Gardner -- until the 'Justice League' series on cartoon network revived the character.

Nolan tried to have a cameo of a would-be Robin being the grandson of Lucius Fox making him black but that got shot down as well. @iMapleStormer I think you're confusing the Marvel Universe with the Ultimates Universe. The 'Scarlet Spider' storyline is from the main Marvel universe where Peter Parker is still alive and still Spider-Man. Tony Stark made the 'Scarlet Spider' armor for Peter during the Civil War storyline, but then created the Scarlet Spider unit after Peter defected to Captain America's side. Only the Peter Parker from the Ultimate universe is dead and replaced by Miles Morales. It's an "alternate reality."

To me, making Ult Spidey black was almost a kick in the balls - and I'm half black half asian. It was as if Marvel just threw us a bone and thought we'd be happy with it. Give us a REAL ethnic superhero with his own lineage - not some Xeroxed and re-toned version of an existing one. Miles does not feel like Spiderman to me - he seems more like a poser and we all know that death in comic books are not set in stone. Parker will be back and Miles will be lucky to be delegated to sidekick.

@actracts Peter Parker will not be back in the Ultimate Spider Man titles. He is dead for good and Miles Morales is Spider Man in the Ultimates universe. Ultimate Peter Parker died a teenager and wasn't even the real Peter Parker. The real Peter is a grown man and is still alive in the regular Marvel universe, and is currently in The Amazing Spider Man, Avenging Spider Man, New Avengers, and Future Foundation titles.

@44excalibur This is not the first time Ultimate Parker has died and come back. Nor is it the first time any comic book character had died and come back. You guys may be happy that we finally get an ethnic superhero in a leading role - I prefer to see an original one that doesn't end up getting sloppy seconds - which is what Miles is and Parker will be back. History will repeat: Antman was Asian for a while then got killed and white Antman is back.

@actracts Maybe so, I don't follow the Ultimates titles much. I've only followed the regular Marvel universe since the death of Gwen Stacy and the Secret Wars miniseries of the 1980's, as well as reading back issues. True, some characters die and come back, but Gwen Stacy and the original Captain Marvel's death pretty much stuck. I got the impression that Brian Michael Bendis is going with Morales and has no intention of bringing Ultimate Peter back, so now there's only one Peter Parker left.

I am fine with changes of a race of a character IF 1. Its not a main character. 2. The race of the character is not integral to the plot or his own personal character. Like Black Panther, you can't change him to white because he is a tribal African, it makes no sense.
