This version has turned up on a couple of compilation CDs, one of which I made the mistake of buying. The quality is awful, and you can't even hear the synthesiser near the end. Thank you, and long live vinyl !
@BODYGCB There's actually 2 full length 12in versions. This is the version on the US 12in single, and is a slightly different mix to the the UK version, which appeared on the UK 12in single and the Substance compilation.
"A Factory Records (US) Inc. Product re-released in the United kingdom". I've never noticed that on it before (I've only had it for 30 years), but I did need a magnifying glass to read it. Or it's time for me to get spectacles. And there's no year on it, which is typical of Factory Records. I can't speak for any other 12" release(s), but goodness knows what they did to the track on the compilation CDs, the quality is appalling. Vinyl rules forever !
That is one of the hardest things to accept when you discover a wonderful band, learn more about them then realise you will never have the chance to see them live.
Being 15 and having to blag my way into the only indie club in town and would get pissed and wait for this song then realise that I wasnt actually the only person who thought this music was genius
I am glad many of the younger generation are appreciating that Joy Division were a great band.
I spent over 20 years telling people what a great band Joy Division were, to answers of "Who ?". Now I've spent the last few years being told what a great band Joy Division were ! I think that is known as ironic.
I saw them once, supporting the Buzzcocks in Dundee in 1979.
I used to have this 12" too. . .Joy Division were my gods at the time, and they are still one of a kind as a band. Tremendous stuff, and I still miss Ian Curtis.
I;m quite new to my laptop. I'm always on facebook. I love all wildlife and music is so essential to life. Looking forward to friend requests from anyone with similar tastes. I'm Peter Lancaster. My current picture on facebook is a Snowy Owl. ps i keep Snakes and Lizards.Pleased i found this site Robby

@TheJimbo720
Yes, I understand.
I am very grateful that I lived through this amazing musical era when I was young. But then I think I'm bloody 47 now, and I'd rather be 21 again !

This is the version I prefer. It's punchier, more haunting and more danceable.
