I love this band, truly I do...but Roger Taylor nicked his drum style from Keith Moon so obviously! Especially the putting of water onto his drum! If anyone sees The Who play at the Rollings Stones Rock n Roll circus, Keith did it in 1968 during A Quick One!...Gah!
@lexy67flc It's pretty standard for musicians to mimic the styles of those who came before them or around the same time as them. After all, a good artist borrows, a great artist steals. There's nothing wrong with it. In fact, it's more of a tribute than anything; an appreciation of another's style and talent and a desire to utilize it in their own way. That's what rock's all about!
the only ones i can think of in getting somewhere close is muse. but queen still rock for the sheer quality over such a long period of time....some absolute classic songs:-)
Well, on 2 of those counts Muse get damn close...they lack the charisma of Queen but else, they do a good job musicianship (especially) and originality wise.
Individually, some bands come close to 10% to musicianship, charisma or originality. But all three together simultaneously.... none that I've experienced thus far. Queen is truly one of a kind!
I saw this tour at the Santa Monica Civic in 1975. To this day it is one of the best shows I've ever been to . Thank God I shot 3 rolls of film before the security caught me and made me put the camera away. I just recently found those old Kodachrome slides and they are AWESOME!
Oh, I fully agree. Singing '-ic in the air" in a higher register definitely sounds phenomenal. Perfect pitch, I was blown away by that too. Sounds amazing.
you're an absolute bastard, and sorry i accidently gave you a thumbs up when i meant thumbs DOWN. really, why did you name yourself "freddiezgay" then come onto this and insult him? go get a life.
for sure. so basically all that matters is his sexuality? Whats sad is that when i think of freddie mercury, the immediate words that come to mind are, brilliant, poetic, operatic, versatile, and talented. he has to pick virtually the only negative adjective to disrespect one of the finest musicians/singers/songwriters of all time and on one of queens videos no less? What does he mean, sings like a dying pig? hello? best singer of all time yo???
Queen fans often talk about "Bohemian Rhapsody" or "Another One Bites The Dust" or "We Will Rock You" or the ones that had big sales, but whenever guitar fans talk about Brian May, the first song, and sometimes the only song, they talk about is Brighton Rock.
Sar this tour in Philly at the Erlanger Theater to this day it is the best most memorable concert I have ever seen and Ihave been to a lot of concerts. The theater sat about 3000 people acoustics were amazing what agreat show early Queen were unbeleiveable.
One day you should listen to "Machine Gun" by Jimi Hendrix. In fact, you should be made to listen to "Machine Gun" on repeat for about three or four days, either for you to gain an appreciation for great guitar or, should you not get it at the end of that, to punish you for your incomparable dimness.
A great masterpiece, Brian really rocks in this one, but Roger and John delivers as well - giving freddy a chance to regain his energy during live conserts:)
queen toured the states later and i saw this show in cleveland and they really had alot more energy when they played here... having this show as a comparison...
love queen but i have to say this is the only song i feel brian may justifies the tag "rock god". The heaviest he gets but sheer class and brilliance.
It's SO hard to choose one greatest guitarist of all time but Brian's in the top 5!

of course Jimmy Hendrix is a great guitarrist
But Brian is even better, this song is a excellent example
Brian wasn't crazy as Jimmy(he played sometimes with his teeths)
This song is even better than the famous voodoo child in terms of guitar and everything
Jonh
Roger
Brian
Freddie
Queen
FOREVER!!!

Totally agree with all of your statements. They are the worlds best rock band even without Freddie.
