You see the reference behind it is in him being a "legendary hero" once. Jecht didn't have that title, he had the title of sir Jecht and one of those who beating sin, but Sephiroth is already here, but that's just my speculation other than that he is a really popular character which is way more popular than Jecht so he wins by default, me personally I prefer Jecht.

This needs an update with Duodecim characters especially Gilgamesh and his morphed form where he uses both arms and his morphed forms uses all his 8 arms to carry/lift certain "heavy characters". Kinda weird Sephiroth is included, but I see why as he was once a hero.
