Our numbers were fine in order to keep our AAA rating. Our politics was not. The Tea Party caused this circus. Not Obama. And yes, he is the President, but he's not a king. The one true fact is that if you are near default on a loan, and your members dont agree on how to solve the problem until the very last minute, and your treasurer had to play with number to keep from defaulting until Aug2.....then you will get a credit downgrade. Thats reality and the fact that moodys & fitch hasnt followed suit either means they are being manipulated or theyre waiting to do so.

@happyninslave Sorry, but that will not wash. S&P specifically said it was because of the "political brinksmanship" in Washington that caused the downgrade. Our numbers were fine in order to keep our AAA rating. Our politics was not. The Tea Party caused this circus. Not Obama. And yes, he is the President, but he's not a king. Our system is set up so that politicians of lesser status can hamstring, gridlock, or stop a President's agenda. The Tea Party effectivly did that to him and the US.

I would define myself as a conservative independent rather than a Republican, albeit I vote Republican because of certain issues that are not held by the Democratic party. I find the debt criminal to our well being and a disgrace to the American People who, after all, are financing the debt. Analysts on tv were criticizing the S&P and the federal gov is thinking about regulating the S&P. The one true fact is that if you are near default on a loan, and your members dont agree on how to solve the problem until the very last minute, and your treasurer had to play with number to keep from defaulting until Aug2.....then you will get a credit downgrade. Thats reality and the fact that moodys & fitch hasnt followed suit either means they are being manipulated or theyre waiting to do so.

No one side has 100% either, but I'd say Conservatives have a major majority of the "RIGHT" ideas as has been proven.

@etraderx11 When you see cigarettes advertised as cool it's up to the person to decide if it is or not. You don't get to tell people what to think. If the government ever gets this way there would be civil unrest at the least. I doubt it would go that far, however. Most normal Americans have a good idea of what's gone wrong the last 3 years and now.
Whatever happened to individual CHOICE? Only when it suits you it seems...or when you decide something is immoral or moral. YOU/the government..

@007CTHULHU007 It is not possible for any given individual to comprehend all of the "dangers" that were created by the very businesses you're defending, simply because they didn't care enough to spend extra money doing health research on their product. It takes a huge government agency such as FDA to monitor those businesses and at least try to protect us against those 'dangers' by imposing regulations against them - I'd be surprised you can find anyone to deny this, but yet you are one!

@etraderx11 Now you've switched to the drug industry which wasn't in the topic. I call misdirection due to lack of knowledge.Switching to something else so you can try to prove the initial argument with an invalid argument.
OF COURSE we need higher regulations on such things as the FDA. The FDA right now needs an overhaul, however. Their required "testing" is what gets a drug on the market and their "testing" judgement has been lax lately. Especially in regards to poisonous HFA Rescue inhalers.

@007CTHULHU007 There is a good and RIGHT reason why people (and Americans0 historically have agreed to have a government in place and who are you to tell us that we were all WRONG about our choice? It has nothing to do with socialism as most of you conservatives and republicans seem to be so scared about. I do NOT believe in socialism, but neither do I think that we should get capitalism out of control. We do need a HEALTHY, debt free government and we do need to pay TAXES, even if it scares u.
