    ASSISTAO NOVO SUCESSO

  • Thats pretty cool. I wonder what it will do if left alone for a year.

  • Do you think the software is Framsticks?

  • new scientist videos are getting less and less informative :(

  • Wouldn't it be great if the entire article (see video description) was read out loud? Reading is faster than listening, but I like to give my eyes a break.

  • What a shit video. New Scientist sucks balls.

  • in each step of this simulation of evolution, was intelligence of human work--legs for walkin etc

  • @Ruslankin2010 So you know how this algorithm works? Or are you just making stuff up?

    en (dot) wikipedia (dot) org/wiki/Rationalization_(making_excuses)

  • @catapaultpenguin So you demonstrated your ability to read wikipedia or just making stuff up?here is the algorithm This robot is a creation by itself to demontrate steps of evolving

  • @Ruslankin2010 Neither of those sentences made sense.

  • @Ruslankin2010

This is just the theory of evolution, at work.

    Deal with it.

  • @jinitron to demonstrate this theory you need to Create something deal with it

  • @Ruslankin2010

It's creating new algorithms that humans don't create.

That's the creation of NEW INFORMATION.

    That's evolution.

    Deal with it.

  • NOOO not lego mindstorm again!!!

  • We need to get John Conner to safety, immediately.

  • oh well i guess that proves it. evolution is right. well of course it is, thats not even debatable. the computer can see problems and change itself to fix them. t hats how evolution works right? sounds close enough for me. lets say that that is what evolution is and further convince people that evolution is true beyond a shadow of a doubt.

  • FUTURAMA ALL OVER AGAIN

  • FUCKING YES A NARRATOR!

  • If we let the simulation go on for years & years it will become self aware! Who knows.

  • diginfonews have better video than you guys..

give us some real science explanation!

  • E-volution

  • but can the evolving robots cure cancer?

  • Robots will fuck you

  • @oqal in the ass

  • thats evolution for robots since they cant reproduce

  • that's not evolution at all wtf? that is just learning

  • @Mrmtjones Not exactly. Evolution sims literally change the configuration of the virtual robot each generation until eventually it has evolved a robot that reaches the goal set for it inside the evosim.

Google 3DVCE for one such program. (3D Virtual Creature Evolution by Stellar Alchemy)

  • Where to get more info?

  • You have a tendency of making videos with so little factual information that they are close to useless waste of time.

If you think that they give people the urge to know more, and use you as source for that, you are mistaken. The "bait"/academic level of information have to be a bit larger for that.

  • For fuck sake!!!! How the hell is this gonna help cure cancer!?!?!?!?

  • @coolman9999uk The exact same way your useless comment will. Why do so many people insist that ALL scientists should be biological scientists working towards a cure for cancer?!

  • STFU ABOUT SKYNET

  • I like how Legos became NS theme. :)

  • Bamzooki!

  • STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM!!!

  • Simulating evolution is more efficient than what?

  • @russelljenkinsfearn "teaching it by hand"

  • @russelljenkinsfearn "other robots, like this one, needs to be tweaked for hours to reach their destination". Instead of using the evolutionary algorithms you can tweak the software and timings yourself.

It was not the clearest reference to a "change of topic" i have heard, infact it was a little confusing.

  • That last Robot needs to be shot...

    He is suffering being alive...

  • evolution in hours ! AMG TOO LONG DON4T NEED

  • damn this was really interesting, i could watch this all day

  • FUCK

  • skynet

  • I have one words for this; Cylons.

  • Uncle Bob?

  • I am using SKYNET and waching it in real time becoming selfaware.

  • Only John Connor can help us now

  • The last robot was drunk.

  • Anybody know where I can get one of these evolution programs?

  • wow, nothing new here

  • THIS DOES NOT HELP CURE CANCER

  • @z3253304 OFC i does!

  • @z3253304 I swear there's one of these comments on every video. Not every single avenue of science needs to directly lead to curing cancer. Random example: Galileo discovering that the Earth goes around the sun didn't help cure cancer, either, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't have done it.

  • @z3253304 Robots on't have cancer!

  • sigh, i wish these vids went for a decent amount of time and had intelligent people who could discuss the content instead of an over-voice who reads of a piece of paper.

  • @AnAtheisticAbomb Me too, is there any channel like that?

  • @AnAtheisticAbomb This vid in particular left me feeling the same way. I saw moving images and heard a voice but don't think i am any more knowledgeable then before watching :(

  • @RobNurgundy Its probably to get anybody watching curious about the material and go t the website or local news stand and buy the article.

  • @AnAtheisticAbomb unfortunately newscientist is reduced to little more than cliche headlines and meaningless sensationalist articles these days... even in print. i have unsubscribed to the print edition a long time ago, it contains no more science than your average consumable discovery channel lineup.

so it makes sense that their videos are equally inadequate.

  • @AnAtheisticAbomb "...wish these vids went for a decent amount of time and had intelligent people who could discuss the content..."

I'll thumb that up. They could have talked about genetic algorithms and evolutionary programming or linked something in the underbar. This video only makes sense to me because I know the subject. It doesn't tell the uninformed how to learn more.

  • @zarkoff45 there's a link in the description.

  • @puretroubleman

That wasn't there before. Good for them.

  • @zarkoff45 LOL troll bait is baity

  • @AnAtheisticAbomb .. "i wish these vids went for a decent amount of time"

You could get hold of a copy of newscientist (comes out thursdays where I live in the UK) or see whether articles relating to specific videos are on the newscientist site.

It is not longer vids, but it might give some more depth occasionally.

  • @AnAtheisticAbomb I think you'll find that most of these are just illustrations for articles. All the information and detail is in the New Scientist Magazine and on the website linked in the info bar.

  • @AnAtheisticAbomb will most likely never happen on youtube.

  • @AnAtheisticAbomb Donchu mean "sigh i wish these vids had intelligent people discussing it in the comments instead of being insolent 12-year-old twats who can't even read a single sheet of paper"?

  • @AnAtheisticAbomb read their site and magazine then...

  • @AnAtheisticAbomb I think these are teasers, to get you to go to their website & hopefully subscribe.

  • thats how skynet was born all right!

  • @plavins1 HERPE DERRRRP Im Skynet. WANNA BE MY FRIEND!?? Herpederp?

  • first

  • skynet
