@mishugina My question may sound stupid, but please can you tell me what grade 8 means? 8 years? How many years are there left before the degree? Because I was wondering how it works, since I'm from Greece and we don't have the same system I guess. Thanks:)
@BerlinPhil academy? what? the berlin phil has an academy? is it a college thing? I'm in 8th grade and i play the clarinet and Eb clarinet. Can you givem e more info on this academy? It's been my dream for years to play in a professional philharmonic
@macintosh315 The training offered by our Academy is both a post-graduate programme and an "internship". The teachers include the orchestra's concertmasters/leaders, and section principals. Moreover, the students gain practical experience under the same demanding conditions confronting members of the Berliner Philharmoniker. Learn more at: berliner-philharmoniker.de/en/berliner-philharmoniker/orchester-akademie/
@rilasciando1 No, i don't think so. The principal clarinettist is not a member of the berlin phil. He's a guest from a non-german orchestra and therefore he always plays a boehm clarinet.
can someone please tell me the name of the prinicipal trombonist in the orchestra who left in the year 2000? I know there was Christhard Gössling but there was another also.
Wolfram Arndt was principal trombone in the BPO from 1991–1999. He is currently professor for trombone in Munich. Christhard Gössling is still one of the principals in the BPO, the other one is Olaf Ott.
I can't believe this is a live performance. It sounds better than most pre-records I've heard. Rattle really is in his element with Stravinsky ballets. The instruments sound so delicately, perfectly balanced - nothing overpowering. Wonderful stuff.

no offense macintosh315, but berlin PO is one of the top orchestras in the world. You'll need much more than grade 8 cert to play in there.
