What is labor tea? My sister is 37 weeks along and dialated to 4 with her cervix 75% effaced and water buldging, but she has been this way for 2 weeks. She is miserable! Does it help you go into labor? I am also expecting, though no where near ready for delievery, but it might be useful info for later.
37wks/4cms/75% and miserable. all NOT uncommon at all. not a reason for induction. the baby will come when he/she is ready to come. the labor tea I had was for me to drink *during* labor for energy and nourisment. Red Raspberry leaf, alfalfa, dandelion, oatstraw---all great for tea. Black and blue cohosh is known to induce, but be warned it carries with it risks.
THAT is a woman right there. Baking a cake taking care of 2 other children and COOKING DINNER while in labor. I couldn't imagine doing that in labor. WAY TO GO!!! Congrats on the new baby
FYI, when hormones work together to facilitate a healthy normal birth, the mother usually does feel restrained or too hot with any clothing. This was not for any points. This was simply my birth announcement for friends and family that live too far away to have been involved in our miracle. Consider yourself lucky to have even been allowed access to it.
heather, dont get put off by some comments on this site, your video is great and shows a really happy family and thats what counts on this planet! well done. all the best from Istanbul Turkey
All the comments that precede this first are true, but lets break it down so you can understand better . You cannot wear pants because that would get in the way of the baby coming out. THEN ALSO the baby will eat soon after birth, so there you go clothes get in the way.
ejlovesbellinis, I just wanted to comment about no one supporting you in your first homebirth. My babes have both been born at home, but it was a long struggle before I could get hubby to agree. Even my dad was opposed, and both my brother and I were born at home!
I finally decided that what was best for me was going to be best for my baby. Fear stalls labor. Stalled hospital labors are not allowed to continue. I decided that I could not give away one of my labors to hospital regulations just to "prove" that I was able to birth naturally.
You have to do what is right for you, but I would urge you to dig deep and find the courage to do just that and nothing else. There is nothing that compares to the feeling of birth. I hope yours goes well. God bless you and your babe.
You can do a homebirth. It may take some convincing others, but if you prefer to birth at home then why not. You're the one giving birth. I gave into others expectations twice and regret it. I wish you the best whatever you decide.
THAT is what birth should be like! I had 2 at home and my first one was just as amazingly peacefuly and perfect as that. The second was only an hour long! Congratulations on an amazing birth
That really was a wonderful birth! I am getting ready to have baby number five and working on my midwifery classes so this was so encouraging for me on both accounts. Thank You and may God bless your little family richly!
aww! im so happy for you. and i give you so much props for the birth you had. i cant imagine how painful that must have been. you have a beautiful family. i cant wait to make my husband a daddy. :)
Wow! that video looked so intimate! I bet it was nice not to have to go to the hospital. What did you do with the cord after it was cut? Expecting #3 here also and wondered how that is done at home. Congrats!
Thanks, We cut the cord with a pair of scissors that had been in our crockpot. We waited for 45 minutes, and the blood was mostly thickened enough in the cord to not be lost. We didn't clamp it. It took about 6 days for the cord to dry up and fall.
Thats great! you were able to go 45 mins before cutting or clamping. I have found that this is VERY healthy for the baby. I plan on keeping my baby attached for at least a half an hour, I know that I will struggle with the hospital staff:) I deliver #3 next week wish me luck.
It's a wonderful video! It's shows one of the best moments of the life! It's amazing! I want have a baby next year, and I'm very enchanted by the homebirths. Thank you for this video, thank you for show a little of your life and of your family, that encourages others womans, include me, to live her lives in a different way.
Thank you :) I'm so glad to be able to share. This was my longest labor and pushing, but I think it's because of him needing to move into the proper position for birth. I was glad for the baby to labor in his own time, even if I was impatient. 28 hrs from the first cramp, but I slept the first 8 hrs. The last 7 hrs was the 'hard' work. I pushed off and on for 1 hour. I pushed when my body would want me to, and I didn't push when there was no urge. No forced pushing while counting to ten.
aww so cute my wife had our baby 4 hours ago :) we had twin girls but we done water birth it was easier to us but congratgulations on your baby he is so cute xx
Not as much as it has hurt to have been without freedom of movement--to be restrained by the cords and monitors. Not as much as it has hurt to hold part of myself back because of the near-strangers present. Not as much as it has hurt to be harrassed during labor for refusing what we believed was unnecessary. Not as much as it would have to have a cesarean because the baby was supposedly too big. Birth is safe, interventions are risky.
AMEN!! this was a beautiful way to announce his birth! and a great video... i'm a homebirth midwife, so when i see birthing videos they are dear to me. did you do it unassisted??
Heather... I was so happy to see your video on youtube. You are an amazing woman and I am so glad we became friends so many years ago. It is amazing to remember back to when we were just children ourselves and now you are this amazing strong woman. Congrats on Gideon. He is beautiful, I can't wait for your next trip home and getting to meet him in person.
Awsome! I'm so happy you were able to have an experience like that!

Hmm. Do you get extra points for a birth where the mother is naked? Does that make it more natural? GET SOME CLOTHES ON!!!!!!!!!

I am pregnant with my first and I *wish* I could have a home birth!
My husband is also on a ship =) (USN)
I plan on laboring as long as I can at home. My mom will act as my doula (she's a childbirth inst).
I rather not go to a hospital, but because this is my 1st noone stands behind me on that.=(
Anyhow, you & yr family are beautiful and I can't wait to have the same experience someday! =)
