I saw Mike Tyson fight about a year before he became champ. Cant remember what it was on but I remember, just like david brenner said, Literally hearing his punches and I said he was going to be champ.
I believe like 01wwjr said. He was the greatest heavyweight. If he had not lost his trainer and then if Givens had not come along he would have stayed champ way longer
This is from like late November 1986 or so, i remember watching this as a 6 yr old not knowing who he was until about a year later when he became undisputed champ and the videogame was coming out....
No matter how he turned out, no one can ever take away the legendary status he once had. The "Tyson" name will always be linked to the word "Knockout". No boxer will ever be remembered like Mike
tyson is almost like a puppet in the stupid american tv ... whith that illarious questions....Tyson was the best boxer, if he had good people around him...
if he had improved from how good he was here at a normal rate to the age of 26 to 30 he def could of been best, boxing is strange though it's not like most sports where most players more or less have peak years around similar ages it seems to be random.
but still if he never got used by giverns and espically king he'd of been alot happier.
@sjewitt22 its more than givins and king. its jacobs, cayton, rooney torres, atlas, and almost everyone else in his life. they all got their pound of flesh from him
He really, really DID have the potential to be the very best, maybe retire at 63-0 in 2001? Even still, at least for 4 short years, no one in their prime could have beat him... NO ONE... not even me lol..
That interviewer is so white. He is asking the world champion the dumbest questions and adds way too much sarcasm. He reminds me of a John Ritter and Jerry Seinfeld mix of a human being.
Look at how popular he was back then, to what he's viewed at now. Tha gu had the world at his feet and tossed it all away. It remeinds me of the saying in the movie the bronx tale. :theres nothing worse than wasted talent; and he difines that phrase through and through.
@capablemachine he's not broke, at all. he claimed bankruptcy to avoid paying huge amount of taxes, sure, he lost a lot of his properties but have you seen his vegas house? (or should i say palace)
Mike Tyson isea and your idea of being broke is divisions apart - he is only considered broke as he has earned over half a billion! he is now estimated at over $30 million. But when you consider the lifestyle he is accustomed to ie buying diamand encrusted bracelets at £200,000 and giving them away as presents! Where has half a billion gone to him $30 million is broke.
No matter who you are you need a good support system. People to guide you, support and, teach you. People you can trust. That's why being a parent is so important. Be there for your kids guide them give them a chance. To chase there dreams and hopefully they will be ready when the time comes to make their own decisions.Watching this video is so tough. Knowing that he had no family and losing Cus would send his career into a tail spin. Much love Iron Mike.
It goes to to show you only the greatest in any profession, that work hard and have talent can only be destroyed by themselves. Tyson was on pace to be the greatest and lost his number one supporter Cus D'Amato. "In my eyes he is the greatest heavyweight." Mike lost his way...the path that Cus put him on. It took so many mistakes to destroy his career Robin Givens, Don King, drugs, and leaving Kevin Rooney.
