Country music just took a straight line from folk music (which by then morphed to bluegrass and mountain music) with a little blues flair... Nowadays, you just sing anything with a southern accent and people think it's country. Bluegrass is true country music in my mind...

I used to listen to some metal as well, and what I gather from my humanities back round and musical back round is that they both evoke a very powerful punch of emotions quickly. @70goldtop, it's unfair to compare artists by just your personal tastes , yes chuck berry defined the 50s and set the standard for guitar players world over , but then so did hendrix , both are different , both are amazing , chuck inspired hendrix , and yet chuck himself has said that he was awed by hendrixs guitar playing , I can't take sides though cuz they are to of my favourite musicians :)

You know, I'm looking at thousands of blues video, and often I will come across a metal fan that likes the blues. I used to listen to some metal as well, and what I gather from my humanities back round and musical back round is that they both evoke a very powerful punch of emotions quickly. The blues has the sentimental sad pleasure that is drown out, while metal works in quick bursts of excitement. I think we should really treasure all musical genres except post 1992 lol. What happened?
