These terminals are without question the best part of the entire game. It's a good thing they were added to the anniversary. It made you care more about Guilty Spark & Keyes and have them feel like actual characters. I wish they included Johnson or Cortana or even the Covenant side, just to get a better feel of what was going on. Not everyone reads the books, so these little tidbits of Halo history are great for everyone.

Johnson wasnt infected he had borens syndrome exposure to plasma so he wasnt infectes jenkins was infected and still had a bit of control and was strapped down to be studied when the flood escaped the facility during a battle between human and covy johnson living was not disclosed. Manuel Mendoza was infected and killed by John -117 when trying to find Keyes. Read the books it says everything

You know what sucks... jacob tried soooo hard to not let the covenant find earth soo badly that he god his memories erased because he didnt want the covenant to find earth. THEN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS regret comes out of nowhere and accedently found the human home planet, regret didnt know it was the human home planet thats why he was calling for help. poor poor jacob... i feel bad that after about 2 - 3 months later they find earth. he tried soo hard man. video - 1:23

But becuase he resisted he gave 117 time to destroy Halo and Vadam went on trial ( this was when cracks and unrest started in the covenant) then the great schism and civil war the covenant practicly eats its self.

Hmm like the book - well put! Basically Keyes was known and was picked for the fact he could keep secrets, hence he went with Halsey when they met John 117 as a child, she knew he could keep a secret better than anyone else. Shame he died hiding those secrets, in the book it describes the proto-gravemind going really really deep into his mind aswell, and he just erases the memories himself.. such a great warrior with such a painful way out :(

The Survivors of Installation 04 & 05 stopped the prophet from firing up the ark and activating the installations finally putting an end to the Human-Covenant-Flood war.

So it's official that "The Pillar of Autumn" is the first ship to come into contact with the flood. Also the flood aren't only contained on the Installations(Rings), they were also in the shield world.

This fuels my Halo 3 story complaint even more! Miranda should have lived, so that this seen would have had more of an impact, she would have been a new leader of mankind. But no, they killed her off after everything she has done in a very anti-climatic way. Yes I know it makes the audience hate the Prophet of Truth even more then they already hate him but... This scene to me is cheapened because I know she dies like that. I'm not trolling, just stating one complaint about the story.

Usually I'd say Halo's story line was a classic Sci-Fi and I'm not saying that's a bad thing. But it's little inserts like these that really add that depth what makes video games a valid medium of story-telling. I wasn't upset, at first, when Keyes died as I knew that his death would not be in vain. But after seeing this terminal, I really empathised with him, trying to stay strong and sane as his closest memories disappeared right in front of him. Rather thought-provoking.

@Natusian In truth, without the books and other background stories, Halo's storyline is piss-poor. The protagonist (Master Chief) hardly says anything through the whole game you never really get to know anyone else deeply. I agree what you said and I'm glad 343 decided to put the terminals in the game to provide a little more info for Halo vets & noobs alike.

Later when there is an actual intelligence guiding them aka Proto-Gravemind/Gravemind, the intelligence KNOWS that its killing people and WANTS to do it in order to consume all life and reform it. What im saying is that at first it does it to survive but then later it does it with the thought of conquering the galaxy.

@JonMichaelVillagomez Fast response, man. Well, my wording could have been better, but that was the main idea. Keyes was a badass, but he did make a few mistakes during the Battle of Installation 04. Cole Protocol said NOT to take Covenant weapons to bases, outposts, threshold, etc. as they could have been bugged. So why go to the weapons cache? Other than that, he was a solid captain.
