This great driving! This year's practice session in Fla. wasn't nearly as aggressive. I commented that it was "crappy driving" because it looked like Joey was almost afraid of pressing the car hard. But this... This is top notch!
you need to see another angles to see the whole story. The porsche tracked all the way out on the right hand turn right before contact. And then the BMW tracked out into his passenger rear wheel. When someone hits you there, its hard to turn left. You end up turning right. If there hadn't been contact, the porsche would have been on the inside of the left hand turn and would have kept both bmws behind him.
I've driven Thunderbolt repeatedly in a GT3. Tracking "all the way out" in the right hander into the octopus is way off the line I and other Porsche drivers use. I'd like to see some video from previous laps, but it looks to me as though the Porsche blew the right, #96 went in for the pass and the Porsche clipped him trying to get back on line. No one likes to have contact, but this looks to me like a big error by the Porsche driver.
Actually, the very first part of that clip shows the same turn, and the Porsche turns in on the correct line. The second time the Porsche gets to that turn he runs way wide and the incident ensues.

Doesn't look like a racing 'accident'. How mad was Auberlen?
