This is great. But I think the costume turns people away more than the idea of playing. I get the love for dramatics, I've been know to throw on a cape every now and then. But if your trying to attract new players who have never played before you should just wear normal clothes. LOVE the d20 necklace though! I've wanted one of those for some time now, just can't find one that isn't stupidly expensive or crappy looking.
I was thinking on doing something this, But sadly its winter, so ill end up playing in the spring in downtown winnipeg, come join us sometime if your headed to your northern neighbour.
I wish the video was more about playing and less about people walking away. I actually said, "oooh, fiendish tyrannosaurus" out loud. I know a DM who wears a hood like that, but not the face mask. -val
Interesting to you maybe, if you go to the average goth festival you will find people roleplaying, though in general it's a lot of white wolf games, but still I suppose it counts...

Love it. This idea is the best thing since "Free Hugs"! And it warms my heart to see people jumping in and playing. But it looks like your players have all played before, and it's not really exposing newbies to D&D. I think the Mortal Kombat-esque costume really puts people off. It makes it seem like either you're crazy, or having a joke at their expense. Why not try it in regular clothes?
I play D&D but think that this is part of the reason why it's stigmatised. you have a wierdo dressed up like a firiken wizard spouting messages about how great D&D is, if you see someone dressed like a moron on the street preaching about watever your going to ignore him and berate whatever it is he's on about
@tiespies50 I play with you. I am a Game master for a large group of 12 players. Sometimes I need an vice GM to support me whit the rule books wile I lead the story telling for the players. But you need to come to sweden for that XD
Lose the outfit and just smile alot. You'll get more players. I had to stop playing way back because too many players were taking it to far...it's a game...not a lifestyle. The lifestyle folks just push out the normal gamer crowd.
Pretty cool, I am not a big fan of 4th edition, but have wanted to give it a shot. If your ever in Toronto, give me a shout! Assuming I don't have school that day, would love to play some, I'll bring extra dice ^^
@firedark347 There were 10 pregen characters. I posted six of the character stats on the King of RPGs website -- do a search for "D&D". The others were characters who appear in volume 2.
I would've stopped in a fuckin' heartbeat to play. Coulda made 2 phone calls and had the other seats filled in 15 minutes. Buncha friends that live right by the M line woulda come running.
It would be excellent to see you here in my city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Go to AMKE's website. It is Anime Milwaukee, the convention of Milwaukee started at the University, it would be awesome to have someone like you visit.
The closest I have done to this is playing in the dorms in the cafeteria during the largest traffic levels. I will have to do this again. Running a game of epic proportions!
Wow, that is awesome, congratulations on the achievement, You earnestly need to start traveling from town to town doing just this. It would be interesting
I have to commend you for doing this. I had always wanted to do that, but never would of had the guts especially to the extent you reached out to educate people and your costume. Market Street is great, but it looks like it was windy, and of course there's a lot of weirdo's on market Street. Good job!
how many players did you have that day? do you remember? looks like you had some playing, come on down to Independence Missouri, I'll play with you, i usually up for pnp action... take care man, keep on gamin'
man that takes alot of guts to do! which although is scary as hell makes you wanna do it. And goodness it must have difficult to shout over passing cars and buses while trying to teach people about the game. Respect!
This is so great! Thank for educating people about this awesome hobby. I'm thoroughly convinced that if more people just simply tried tabletop roleplaying, it would become enormously more popular.
I don't usually comment, but your video is too good to pass on. So many people walking by and ignoring you, oblivious to the game and head full of misconceptions. D&D makes us interact with each other, something that people are now doing less and less of. Thanks
@sboxjunk Or maybe they were on their way to do something and couldn't be bothered? It's not like people just walk around looking for random DnD games in the street
Awsome idea, kudos, but he should choose a decent roleplaying game to run.I understand it is Deee and Deee! but there are far better gaming choices than to be Hasbro's tool.If he is going to be a commercial I hope he gets paid someday.
I signed in to my YouTube account for the first time in YEARS, just to comment on your video. That was a very cool thing you did. Brave as hell, too, I might add. Good show, man...good show.
I would totally stop by your table!
