C'est superbe. Dommage que des imbéciles empestent sur Youtube, critiquant la France et les Français pour la défaite de 1940. Ils parlent d'Histoire mais ne la connaissent pas du tout pour oser s'arrêter à 1940 ...
Hmm "the first politic and military power in Europe" - so what about Great Britain, Ottoman Empire and Sweden? I personally can agree that France achieved hegemony in Europe but during the Napoleon era.
France during Louís XIV had a regular army of 700 000 soldiers,a titanic amount for that time(even today),it was the strongest army overall in the continent.
@RitterDesHimmels1 In XVII century, Polish heavy cavalry "the winged hussars" was better than the French cavalry from this time. In 1610 the Polish cavalry of about 7000 men was able to defeat the 35 000 Russian-Swedish army (battle of Klushino). About 600 Polish hussars defeated 10 000 Ottoman Empire's soldiers (7 IX 1621, Khotyn). So you see numbers doesn't really matter. You can find more informations about these events in "God's Playground" (author: Norman Davies).
I would like to,the problem is that I read that in a book somewhere years ago(I believe "the rise and fall of the great powers")between 400 000 and 700 000 total men,and it might be exaggerating,it was really long ago.
Well I will stick to the hard facts,France in the war of Spanish succession mobilized 255 000 men(you can easily find that)still the greatest army in the continent, put only in check, when it was,by coalitions.
Ah yes... National patriotism.. The worst enemy of truth..
Nice video btw, France shure had/has an amazing barock culture.

I`m aware of the fact that the French culture had became the most influential in Europe but in the XVIII century.

@StellandBlood Could you give the source of this information?
Numerous army doesn't mean strong army per se. It`s quite obvious that all people think that their country was the best and the strongest in history.
