We allowed alot of things to happen after 9/11 because we were afraid, but thats not a soldiers fault for us allowing the government to make shady dealings under the table proclaiming it was in the name of humanity.

srlonghorn09: I've not served, but veterans I have spoken to on this issue assure me that the 'allure' I spoke of is a prime motivator for many youth. It may be a different case when an actual attack is perceived.
YOU ARE RIGHT. we (citizens) have all failed our nation by not keeping the bastards (gov) honest. So I blame troops NO MORE than I blame my fellow countrymen.

If anything troops pay the greater price for this failure, but in the current fiasco, '''numerically'' nowhere near as great as the price paid by those nations we attack.
So even on a youtube topic entitled 'tribute' I will speak out, certainly not at a funeral as some have done, but I won't be silenced by the waving of a flag.

As long as you don't blame the troops any more than the citizen, i can agree. As for the spirit in the right of speech, i also agree you have every right to voice your stance albeit if it may appear less "patriotic" to others.

I whole heartedly agree with you, u are 100 percent correct. Eisenhower said something similar to wot u quoted from Macarthur. However, that doesnt stop the fact the people from countries other than Australia (namely the USA) died defending this country, maybe not for noble reasons, ur are right it was just a stepping stone for them to reach japan, but they still died defending it, the result was still the same.

what u just said proves u know nothing about the veitnam war, american and the aussies won virtually every battle they were in, the veitnamese used a different strategy to "exaust" america. by draining our will to fight and eventually americans seen it wasnt worth the lives so they pulled out.

I don't know everything about the American war in Vietnam but I know enough to know that the Vietnamese suffered more casualties than the 'allies'...but were far more resilient and came back time and time again to as you say exhaust the Americans and their allies..and declare victory...so America and Australia DID come off second best.

in the sense of trained soldiers america did not, hence how we killed alot more of them then us. america and allies just gave up because it wasnt worth it. thats not coming in second best that just saying fuck it, america wooped them to shit but seen for what we would of won out of it over weighed the lives cost for it.
