I think that the main reason is that we have a very small amount of ice halls, compared to countries like Canada and Sweden. If my information is correct, there is only 43 ice halls in norway:S

Im from sweden too, and you know its true.. The thing is that there are icehalls exactely everywhere in sweden. Every1 knows how to play, but almost no1 plays real hockey.

waspboy: yes as a norwegian i understand u and i totally agree with u.Its just a shame because infact hockey today in norway are truly getting better and next to soccer its the sport that atrracts most people to the games.Another thing that maybe seeme weird is how the media here seeme to hate hockey, they only focus on our losses and if there some scandals thats what they focus on.

Now watch Zucca ( mats zuccarello aasen) he will play in NHL within 1 or two years.

It will always remain a mystery to me. I'd love to see Norway start becoming a stronger force in international hockey, but for some reason, they just don't seem to get the breaks. The best atheletes must simply prefer skiing...

Because there's only 30 or so rinks in the whole country and just 5-6 thousand players.

Versus Sweden and Finland which has 300+ rinks and 10-20 times the amount of players.

Then add the fact that hockey isnt popular at all.

Soccer dominates completely all year round together with handball. Winter sports, skiing mostly, gets attention in winter.

No one cares about a sport where they're not able to compete and loses every time.
