I used to live in JC! Back in 88-89 I remember when you guys had a fire, you had the old guy from the Gas station flagging traffic at the main intersection right by the station, across from the lucky Strike Bar.
Hello from JC - We still have an old guy - not sure if it's the same old guy - refuses to retire. Was awarded a special 60 year helmet a few weeks ago. They did make him 'Station Warden'- as opposed to firefighter. Keeps things in tip top condition and he helps with hydrants when tankers have to run back for refills from barn fires. Not sure how he hears his pager... Dedicated fellow. Kind of what makes small town FD's unique.
