A KA24DE-T with the crower stroker kit, could probably walk on most SR20s on the highway even. That kit has all lightweight parts and a fully balanced crank. Add a harmonic damper to that and a KA could probably rev as high as an SR.
Turboing the KA is about 1 thing. Japan said "screw you america you can suffer! we'll give you our cars, but no awesome motors. hey lets really mess with them and put the same motors as our trucks! lolol that'll really piss them off!!! haha no turbo motors for you!! " and we said " thats fine, we'll make our own." hence ka24det. its actually quite american if you think about it. japan doesn't do ka24det. we do. So japan, fuck you too. :)
that's right nissan put the ka24e in certain nissan hardbodys. and they also put the ka24de in the nissan frontier. I actually have a hardbody that has the ka24e in it with over 201k miles on it. I love this motor. It has just as much performance now as the day I got it.
yeah not only that viper but if you blow something on the sr, you gotta wait to have the part shipped from out of the country cause theyre not available in the us so there arent parts for em here. ka > sr anyday

like i said yu must not know good sr pplz my friends sr 325hp wit stock internals .like i said i love nissan but i wont put a truck motor in my car. ill respect a fast ka t but it still a ka
ok yeah i can push alot more 300 with stock iternals yu must not talk or know to many good sr pplz i dnt like truck m0tor i love nissan for what they do but i wont put a ka t in my car i throw them away
lol more reliable. you blow a ka, replace it for 200 bucks. you blow a sr...heh...hope you make good money. and still make less hp...7psi ka's make around 240-250whp(stock internals) for the same price as sr swap. Built ka > built sr.
does any1 here know wat i should do 2 the engine to gain over 200hpw/o turbo? cause im only planning on getting a new fuel injector new fuel line, new ignition system, intercooler kit, aftermarket cams, and filter. if there is anything else u guys could recommend that would be great
another thing u could do is remove your ac for weight savings, get an aftermarket fan for more power and weight savings, and look into getting aftermarket fenders...with all those things u'll be pushin around the 200hp mark and your car will be alot lighter
new crankshafts, new injectors, new ECU, Port and Polish, Blueprint the block, cold air intake, full exhaust upgrade. and lots lots more! That alone should get you way more than 200hp. Nismo will hook you up with a lot of those parts.
so whats the better choice in terms of price/power ratio. Dont forget reliability. I am looken to make 280-300hp out of my 91 240 so idk if i should keep my KA or Put in an SR20
build your ka, trust me. with lots of power and big laggy turbo you can still have a good reliable 2.4l for daily driving (shifting before turbo kicks ass)
btw when i said lots of power i meant from 400+whp.
for the price of a good s15 sr and bpu, you should be able to afford a gt35 ams turbo (go check it on their site) a megan manifold, injectors, fpr, pump, down pipe, and jwt ecu. maybe even have it built. if you are gonna build for more hp and full reliablity make sure you put in at bare minimum cryogenicly treated new oem rods or like eagle rods. im not quite sure how much s15 sr is tho. ka is best for budget period, well next to the rb20/ca18
but rb swap is a bit too much work i say, and who knows what the fuck the engine went through... with your KA you know exactly what you are dealing with. I havent heard of many bb garret ka24dets or few if any ball bearing ka24's, simply because everyone who builds them is broke... (No offense, im barely affording the cost of s14 lol(,:] )
The KA may produce more torque but your gona end up spending alot more in the long run. I'm currently split between keeping my KA in my S13 240sx or getting an SR.
You will spend the about the same on either one. The trick is, the KA is stock is a high compression motor. Leave the compression stock, add a T25 or similar turbo running around 7psi and you a very responsive and very quick car. It all comes down to what you prefer. Either way, KA or SR, its not going to be real cheap.
the sohc ka24e was first in the 89-90 240sx and stanza, then the dohc ka24de first came in the 91+ 240sx...frontier wasn't born until 97 or 98..just a smart way of saving money by using the same motors for different cars
less noise moowa ka24!

headers, downpipe, straight pipe, catback exhaust, crank pulley and an ecu chip(not a ebay resinator) would help. Cold air intake would also help to

Can you run a turbo at more than 7 psi with stock internals?
Psychonerd 4 years ago
Yes. I have seen people run at 20psi on a dyno with stock internals. But i dont think its good to be doing that much with stock internals.
Drifter001 4 years ago
How much do you think would be fine for stock internals?
Psychonerd 4 years ago
When i asked the guys from JDM imports they told me its ok to run from 6psi for everyday use, and at most 16psi when at the track or street racing.
Drifter001 4 years ago
Ok thanks.
Psychonerd 4 years ago
I agree. I have a friend running 14psi on stock internals. He has been doing so for about the last 8 months and it is still running fine.
drft240 3 years ago
uh yeah it can.. think about it.. ka is a truck motor.. originally put in the frontier.. so of course u are gonna get a lot of torque out of it...lol
