  • Marciano, the human buzzsaw. Threw average of 85 punches a round--more than welterweights and middleweights throw. Had the hardest punching power, per square inch, of any heavyweight. Legendary training, never equalled--if Tyson had trained like Marciano, he would have retired undefeated. For instance, Marciano ran 6-9 miles/day, whether he had a fight signed or not. Average heavy bag for heavyweights: 225 pounds, occasionally, 250. Marciano's heavy bag: Custom-made, 300 pounds. Marciano!

  • @Bravo6Whiskey eveything you said is soo true except the bag actually weighed 400 lbs haha. They said his punching power is equivalent to geting hit by an armored piercing shell. R.I.P. to the greatest boxer of all time in my eyes.

  • the fighters back then were real men, they had respect and were hard as fuck. they didnt need no bullshit hype to put bums in seats like they do now. the fighters from back then who were classed as shit could wipe the floor with anyone who calls themselves a fighter today. the mjddle wieght division of the 90s was the last time i saw any great fights. the best person and fighter of my generation for me is joe calazaghe.

  • why does the video just cut during peoples statements its pretty annoying

  • 1:50 that's one helluva rabbit punch!

  • lol @ burt reynolds hahahahahaha

  • Ba´h, I don´t know whats wrong, with those guys saying that Marciano ducked Patterson and Liston, Rocky was in his freaking 40´s out of shape, had a bad back, and he was just tired.

  • @nusucker Are you even watching this it said he retired in his early 30s!

  • @joseph941000able Funny. Even though Rocky Marciano started boxing in the early fifty´s and ended his career in the early sixty´s.

  • marciano was a great fighter but he was to small i think to beat heavyweights like ali, lewis, foreman or the klitschko brothers but then again you never know.

  • By today's standards, Marciano would've been DQ'd for hitting Charles behind the head which ended the fight.

  • @Solowizard he wouldnt be disqualified, he'd be penalized at the most and would most likely just get a warning

  • this is great but it seems to skip a lot

  • yes it is true what they say about Rocky's been a yang boxer against his opponent , but he also was shorter and his arms were shorter then a regular heavy wait , so if you put this in consideration , Rocky was a god miracle ,his right punch could kill a regular man.

  • ITALIAN PRIDE !

  • wow rockys is such a legend

  • Out of Ali, Patterson and Liston, I reckon the only fighter who probably have beaten Marciano would be Liston jsut because of the size height and weight, and reach advantage. Ali would dominate to start but in the end be KOd and Patterson would be killed probably literaly in the 1st round since he is well known for having a glass jaw.

  • IF Moore could have out-boxed Rocky Marciano in spots during their fight I think Muhammad Ali would have been able to beat Rocky Marciano.

Muhammad Ali had a great chin, and I don't think Rocky could have KO'd Him. I think a Prime Muhammad Ali out-boxes Rocky Marciano to a decision.

  • The thing with Ali is Ali relied on doing to his opponents mentally what Marciano did to his opponents phisically. Ali would never be able to mentally get to Marciano which is 90% of his strategy proven in his fights with Liston, Frazier and Foreman. Ali would dominate in early rounds but Marciano would KO him in much later rounds regardless of Alis ability to take punches, there are punches and Marcianos punches.

  • Muhammad Ali beat both Patterson and Liston.

You say that that the Rock could have KO'd Ali but yet Joe Frazier,Ernie Shavers, and George Foreman all failed to KO Ali. All of which were bigger punchers than Marciano.

Muhammad Ali had one of the Greatest chins in boxing. The "Rope a Dope" should be a testament to that because it wouldn't have worked if Ali couldn't take a punch.

  • Ok 1 thing first, Marciano was proven to be a bigger puncher than the fighters you mentioned the only flaw was his reach and height. Ali beat Patterson 1 when he was past his prime just like Ali lost to Holmes and Berbick past his, plus Patterson was proven to have a glass jaw. Also look at it like this would the Rock have ever lost to a rookie such as Leon Spinx like Ali did?

  • George Foreman and Ernie Shavers are both ranked higher than Rocky Marciano on the 100 Greatest Punchers of All-Time list. With that being said Ali fought guys that were just as good a Rocky Marciano if not better.

Rocky on the other hand didn't fight as many Hall of Fame fighters as Ali and thats why his record reflects it.

Rocky Marciano couldn't do anything to Ali that Frazier or Foreman couldn't . The truth is Rocky was great but his biggest wins came over fighters past their prime.

  • Also main point is all the fighters Ali defeated was due to being mentally destroyed by Ali before they even stepped into the ring Frazier and Liston were both worked into frenzys making them easy pickings and Foreman was completely rattled in the 1st round. Ali needs to get in his opponents heads to beat them, there was no way he could ever do that to the Rock otherwise the Rock would have shown it when Ali goaded him for a fight. Brawn for Brawn Ali stood no chance with most opponents he beat

  • Rather Muhammad Ali beat these fighters mentally or not is irrelevant, because he still was a great fighter rather he could talk trash or not.

If Muhamad Ali fought the fighter Rocky Marciano fought he would have retired undefeated too. However if Rocky Marciano fought the same competition Ali fought he would have at least 3 losses.

  • Now your are talking rubbish because, speaking from experience boxing is 90% mental and 10% physical and also if the mental aspect is so irrelevant to boxing why the hell do you claim Alis rope a dope tactic as 'a testament'? Thats just a complete biased and hypercrital comment to make. The rope a dope tactic was a mental move to goad Foreman into wearing himself out in the humidity of the arena while Ali laid back.

  • Also you say Rock basically never beat a legit opponents because for you legit fighters were Ali, Frazier,Liston etc. but thats the time you are more familiar to. You dont know the fighters Rock faced . Ali is my favourite boxer of all time and theres not much I dont know about him but he is NOT undefeated and Rock is each opponents they fought in their time were just as formiddable.

  • 1 more point Rock only fought fighters past their prime? Ali fought Patterson when he was past his prime, he fought Walcot when he was past his prime, there was an ex cop Ali beat early in his career who was past his prime and also another fighter who at the mo I cannot remember by name who after Ali beat him he saw his son crying and Ali hugged him and said 'Your father would have won had he fought me in his prime' But still Ali lost to Leon Spinx a rookie of only 7 fights and lost this title.

  • Actually, Joe Frazier not only broke Ali's Jaw,but Knocked him out cold.

Ali also fought way out of his prime which in my opinion tarnishes and diminishes his legacy to some degree.

Marciano would have made minced meat out of Patterson and when Ali beat Liston to win the title,Sonny was 10yrs older maybe more.

However, many great champs have dethroned an old champ to come into prominence. It's called "Taking the Torch"!

  • Joe Frazier was undefeated when he and Ali met so this idea that Ali beat up on a faded Frazier is a joke.

Sonny Liston was a little long in the tooth when they fought, but he was still the Champion.

Rocky Marciano is a great fighter and not to take anything away from him but his biggest wins are over fighters years past their respected primes.

Muhammad Ali would have Boxed his ear's off.

  • Boxing in those years were 10 times worse then todays boxing, and to compare the best boxers to each other of diff times is dumb ali was amazing so was louis ali frazier formen tyson and marciano

  • The eras were different you can always compare style.

  • @RSKReventon Where do you get this idea in your head? You realize the only real difference between now and then is, we have better training for managing cardio and a steady diet and other such things. Other then that a lot of boxers now take from the old, and add on to that with their own skills and styles, to boldly claim that boxers back then were 10 times as worse obviously shows what little you know and understand about boxing.

  • @flamezero888 if boxing is better to day as you say as it was back then you must be watching a different ball game back than flyweight to heavyweight they were all great fighters today they are all wankers

  • @MrBIGGAGEE Lol you didn't read it all did you. I said There's only some things that boxers do better now, but that doesn't involve fighting at all, Only strengthening and conditioning.

  • @flamezero888 what are you on about, the ponces in boxing now are more concerned with how they look than how fit they actually are. most heavyweights now are to fat to throw more then 1 punch before having a cuddle and leaning all over th other guy. and if you remember they used to do 15 rounds back then.

  • @transportert41 I didn't say everyone nowadays is a star athlete, I do agree with you tho most of the heavyweights now are terrible slobs.

  • @transportert41 and marciano knew of the older fighters that fought practically until someone was down. He trained for his body not to fail him ever. People need to respect that. He never got big headed and fail himself believeing hype. Unlike ALi or tyson or anyone that was great but failed themselves for either not training hard anymore or whatever the reason.

  • well technically speaking most everyone was a better conventional bexer than rocky but rocky didnt try to outbox them anyway so it was never a matter of boxing ability, rocky would force the fight on them, rocky was deceptivly hard to hit cleanly and his stamina was unmatched, even at the age of 46 when rocky sparred with ali for the computer fight ali made the statement that he couldnt believe how hard rocky was to hit cleanly and ali was 30.

  • @dirtyjew1974 you seem to know a thing or two. Here is what I say: Styles make fights BUT styles don't win beat other fighters. The individual (the sum total) is what wins fights. The Rockys , Alis etc win.

  • Joe Frazier was undefeated when he and Ali fought so this idea that Ali was beating up on a faded Frazier is a Joke.

The truth is most of Rocky Marciano's opponents were faded by the time he fought them. The average age of a Rocky Marciano opponent was 35 years old which in Boxing years can have a huge effect on the fight.

  • Hey Normen, if you look up a youtube video entitled "Rocky Marciano - The Truth" it will not only accurately illustrate opponent age disparity of some of the Greatest Heavy Weights of all time, but will also prove that many great champs have "Taken the Torch" by beating older champions.

It's not just capturing the gold, but what you do with it while you have. Marciano fought and beat every fighter of his era.

    49 - 0 in a 7 year career 43 KO'S

  • I have seen the video and it only takes note of the age discrepancy. It never notes the fact that Ezzard Charles had 95 Fights or that Archie Moore had 176 fights, or that Joe Walcott had 69 fights, not to mention all those men were 30 years old or ever older.

I'm not here to bash the Rock however people have to start stating the facts and not the fantasy.

Muhammad Ali's resume is more impressive he defended his title more times, his reign as champion was longer and he fought better guys.

  • well rocky was over 30 also.

  • Rocky was over 30 years but he didn't have 90 some odd fights. Moore,Charles, Walcott those guys all had 90 fights in addition to being 30 years old or even older.

  • older or not, all these men were still better boxers than rocky and couldnt beat him so weather they were a couple years younger or had less fights they still had all the tools nessesary to box effectivly and hit rocky effectivly, they just couldnt hurt him and his stamina was unparelled, his work ethic was undeniable and nobody trained with the dedication nor intensity that he did, he ran a minimum of 8 miles daily which is unheard of and sparred more rounds than anyone.

  • @NormenBatez Well they did get the shit beat out of them a-lot. Whats better, Retiring when your about to go in an age were you'll lose, and get beat up, or Retire before its to late? It doesn't matter the amount of fights, but many of those guys got some kind of brain damage because of all of the fights they were in. Rocky retired at the end of his prime, which was a very smart thing to do.

  • @beardigady I couldn't agree with you more: Rocky Marciano beat everyone he was supposed to beat, fought everyone relevant, and retired without any damage to his legacy, he had a perfect career.

I wrote the comment almost a year ago and I've changed a lot as pend rson in conjunction to learning more about the sport. So many fighters retire beat up, broke, and a shell of their former self Rocky Marciano wasn't one of them.

  • actually the age gap of the fighters rocky fought were less than the age gap of the ones tyson and ali fought, when tyson fought burbick tyson was about 14 years younger and nobody argues about age with him, pinkelon thomas was much much older than tyson too, liston was a good bit older than ali/clay too.

  • rocky marciano the truth is a really good vid, orooster4life has one of the best pages for fight fans on youtube!

  • frasier didnt break alis jaw, he only badly bruised it and made it swell and he didnt knock out ali either he only knocked him down and the fight went the distance, the only one who broke alis jaw was ken norton jr.

  • burt renolds sucks

  • Damn, Rocky was truley the GOAT!

  • Великий из Величайших..................

  • Thank you Titus!
