This is one of John K Samsons songs, he took it with him when he formed the weakerthans, along with anchorless. He is an awesome song writer and performing artist.
Duh-Ummmmm fuck all of you. listen. shutthefackkkkkk.... anyone listening to this should worry 'bout what they bring to light not your fucking dismissive opinions of each others opinions of the band. Whaaa-geeeeeze!!!!
I'm sorry, but this is one of the lamest Propagandhi songs ever. Samson has a voice suitable for indie, but not for the type of music Propagandhi plays...I guess that's why he formed the Weakerthans, who are a veryyyyyy weak band!
@trallala HAHA, and you're the kind of asshole that compares bands like the Weakerthans to hardcore legends like Fugazi and Black Flag. Get your fuckin ears checked.
@trallala Thank you for the reply, it made me laugh.
You do realize you are mixing in a bunch of other bands with the very short comment that I wrote, right? Your response was completely irrelevant and stupid.
Also, I think you need to learn to stop calling everyone a moron/asshole who states their opinion. If the whole world thought by your standards, everyone would be an asshole, especially yourself.
@trallala Lastly, I agree that the term "indie" originally referred to "Independent" music, but you need to realize that certain lexical terms change meaning throughout the course of history; and indie, at this particular moment in history, more often than not, tends to refer to a GENRE, regardless of what you think. Many bands who have signed to major labels are certainly still considered to be indie. Just give it a few more years, and I'm sure the meaning in the dictionary will have changed.
@trallala And finally, stop talking as if you know everything about music. I'm sure Propagandhi would love to punch you in the face for being so goddamn arrogant.
@fifthhourhero wtf? his voice is great. maybe its not the voice for propagandhi, but the occasional song he sings on (like 3) and his backing vocals make the band great
actually it was written by Samson about a family member that died, and the small town he's talking about isn't Portage la Prairie.
"[Anchorless] is about a family member close to me that died, and who our family had some conflicted feelings about. Who I really never got to know as well as I should have, and who just didn't seem able to express himself all his life. Didn't seem able to show affection and care for other people."
I haven't heard much of Todd's stuff other than in Propagandhi... so I'm gonna say I like Samson better cause he's one of my favourite musicians, but I agree that Todd is way better for this band.
i do have to agree that i liked propagandhi better when samson was in it, but i still have a lot of respect for todd and the beaver. and besides, we got the weakerthans out of samson leaving.
potemkin and todays empires are way more musically diverse and better written. It sounds like they put a lot more time into the structure of the music and playing the lyrics off of that instead of vice versa.
@sandihume hey know it all this isn't even propogandhi its the weakerthans fuck head so before you make fun of someone you should at least know what band your listening to poser
@thestjames1 Try again dipshit...this is Propagandhi and try spelling there name right at least. John, Jord Chris?...Propagandhi. Not hard to figure out.
@thestjames1 Hahaha, so ironic, you're a double loser, you are sooooooo wrong... its horrendously obvious it was propagandhi first LOL. look at the DATE of the video, look whos IN the video... damn....
I can't help but wonder if this song has any sort of relation to or directed towards 'Osker - Anchor" anyone able to help me out?

"(potemkins pretty gay)"
the exact opposite mentality that these musicians are singing about.
syrusabeyond 3 years ago 2
you know nothing about propagandhi you filthy poser,
this kind of mentality is what they preach about
you only like propagandhi for the subculture and what it provides socially
and samson is a great singer but hannah provides more political lyrics, and they are equal
potemkin is great, you may have heard it, but you werent really listening to it
sandihume 3 years ago 17
Potemkin is a great album lyrically. I prefer samson as a vocalist though. more pleasing to the ears lol
