100000000 Thanks for this fantastic video ! I had the chance to see James Brown on stage, it was a great time and that memory will remain forever engraved in my memory!
....and THAT'S ONE OF THE REASONS that today's music has GONE DOWN THE TUBES ...AND PEOPLE TODAY KEEP LOOKING BACK TO the 50' 60' and 70's... WHEN MUSIC WAS GOOD ... and the artists who made it were REALLY TALENTED !!!
@lehnrik Of course they are sir but James Brown's singing, dancing, band arrangements, musical direction and so much more changed popular music globally. R Kelly and Allison Krauss cannot make that claim. There are different LEVELS and JB in his prime was right at the top.
If those rules had applied back in the 50's and 60's, DO YOU THINK people like JAMES BROWN, CURTIS MAYFIELD, BOBBY BLAND, ARETHA FRANKLIN,BILLY STEWART,SAM & DAVE, and others would have gotten record deals ? NO !! They would have NEVER EVEN BEEN SIGNED !!! And the world of music would have lost out on A LOT OF GREAT MUSIC !! Today, the record industry would rather sign MARGINALLY TALENTED PEOPLE that "Look Good" , then average-looking people with EXCEPTIONAL TALENT !!!
It's a sad commentary on the music business today, that TRUE TALENT has been sacrificed in favor of GOOD LOOKS. Have you noticed how many of today's young music stars look as though they should be on the cover of VOGUE or GQ ? That's because RECORD COMPANIES today have MARKETING DEPARTMENTS. They sit around in boardrooms asking"How can we MARKET this person ? Marginally attractive or unattractive artists simply DON'T GET SIGNED !! In times past,TALENT was ALL THAT MATTERED. TODAY,ONLY LOOKS!!
JAMES BROWN &THE FAMOUS FLAMES (Bobby Byrd,Bobby Bennett, and Lloyd Stallworth) with The James Brown Band @ THE OLYMPIA THEATRE in Paris, France , 1966
@hankoless people who just assume "this race likes this music, but doesnt like this music" you think there arent black people who dont like james brown?
Scarface, Jay-z, Nas, Eminem, The Roots, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Gang Starr, Outkast, Z-Ro, UGK, Lauryn Hill, Cypress Hill, Public Enemy, Kanye West, etc etc etc.................Far from the lowest form of music there is. Hip Hop is everything. Don't be mad because it took over. Just like every other form of Black American music. Blues. Jazz. Rock n Roll. Soul Funk. R&B. If any one thing is to blame for the dilution of quality music it is THE MP3!!! Not Hip hop.
JAMES BROWN & THE FAMOUS FLAMES,( BOBBY BYRD, BOBBY BENNETT, and LLOYD STALLWORTH) live on stage (with the James Brown Band) at THE OLYMPIA THEATRE, Paris France, 1966.
Hey, I’m a young artist, & I would really appreciate it if everyone would check out my cover of Michael Bublé’s “You’re Nobody till Somebody Loves You.” Although I’m knowledgeable that Michael Bublé was not the first to record the song, my version was inspired by his rendition, nonetheless. I promise you that you will not regret giving my version of the song a listen, & it will truly knock you off of your feet! So please listen & enjoy! Thanks!
One of my main influences was James Brown. I'd been a fan of his since I was 8 years old and "(I Got You) I Feel Good" was on the radio back in late 1965. This is REAL music, which is 1000 times better than the garbage which is played currently.
I love M.J. But for me, It'll forever be J.B. as the most dynamic musical, entertainer and stage performer of all time. No pyrotechnics, no lip syncing, no magic tricks or big time stage productions. Everything you saw was the real deal straight from the heart, body and soul. There's very little if any of this type of blood, sweat and 'soul' performances happening today. How fortunate and blessed I feel to have lived during this era of entertainment through conviction.
@11Kralle You've hit the nail on the head. I was lucky to see him in Dublin in The Olympia Oct '06 just before he passed. He was 73 and still owned it.
My 5year old daughter loves his music also and has done since she was 2.
All this new stuff has no soul or meaning. Pity that.

James Brown. A legend and one of the most innovative performers of the 20th Century. It is a privilege to be able to see him perform at his best. Thank you.
The 35 idiots who hit dislike must have been drunk when they did it. I can't believe someone could hit the dislike button on purpose sober. We FORGIVE the DIRTY 35.
In the sixties when ever JB was in town (Cobo Arena) I was there and saw the best or should I say "The hardest working man in show buisness". That was when a concert was worth going to and at that time the expensive tickets were $7 dollars. A James Brown show was an experience, Micheal and Prince were the only ones to come close.
I miss the time when music was sweaty and nasty and dirty and sometimes just down right smelly funky. What do we have nowadays? @C13AI Hilarious! I love it and agree completely, as someone who went to late fifties and early sixties R & B chitlin' circuit concerts, which were segregated here in the South (I'm white). Those were the days, my friend. First saw JB and the Famous Flames in July of 1962, doing basically the same show was recorded five or so months later as "Live At The Apollo" Vol. I
@C13AI yea man. todays music makes me sick. sadly, i just cant fit in with my friends anymore. lol i have an old soul in a young mans body. i guess i need to start making some older friends
@C13AI I totally agree with you. However, if you are looking for filthy modern music check out the band Sleigh Bells, they are deafeningly loud and one of the dirtiest sounding bands I've heard in a long time.
@SaneLunacy Just listened to some of their stuff. I think you should check out a few other bands if you like stuff like Sleigh Bells Deerhoof (the Perfect Me) & My Gold Mask (Violet Eyes) to name 2.
@SaneLunacy DAAMN just listened to this one, goddamn this is REALLY NICE. Not to be arrogant but i think you might like the music I produce too :) Send me your email i will send you a taste :) Gonna finalise my album around march.
@C13AI actually people do call him that but he also goes by boy jones or smething like that and as for being on youtube i bet it is but i wouldnt no how to find it try searching boy jones shimmy shimmy ya i bet theyll have it but no promises
If rap is the evolvement of soul, funk, and motown; then what the hell happened? Back then the music was about social adversity and being able to overcome and be proud of your race/heritage. Rap is all about what i have and look at m for it. It's bullshit. Only public enemy got it right. Everyone else makes black people look less than what they really are. Bring back this kind of quality.
@eric44267 Not everyone else. There are a number of rap artist and groups that are more soulful, and meaningful than public enemy! They may not be at the media forefront, making the millions of dollars that the 50 cent and Jay Z's are making but they are appreciated fans world wide who seek them out and listen. The James Brown's of this world evolved during times of great oppression and hardship and were innovators, to replicate something as deep as that would have to take a drastic travesty
@eric44267 Unfortunately it is a reflection of the money obsessed capitalistic society that many have bought into. It is ironic that the struggles of James Brown and many others that have allowed them to do so in the music realm and Malcom, Martin, Megdar in the civil realm. The music industry has become infected with same mega-greed and materialism that is destroying our culture. In other words new "artist" are making the mistake of emulating their oppressors.
THIS WAS AN ERA WHEN YOU GOT A SHOW. DAMN!!! As a Black man, I look at my generation of Hip Hop/Pop-RB and say to myself, WHAT THE HELL WENT WRONG??? When you reach the top of any art, the only way you can go is down.....
@palmares77 I FEEL YOU! I asked myself the same thing and I also asked myself how is it that an artist of this,as you say,"generation of Hip Hop/Pop-RB" can claim ICON status in 10 years with an average of 3 albums(if they're lucky) and in those 3 maybe 5 hits songs (songs created from no real life experience or creative poetic inspiration or composing talent) that sound like they were written after taking a dump & then sprinkled with some premium-cheeeezy-wack 2part harmony vocals...WTF!!!!!
Никто не мог с такой очевидностью передать Животную силу в человеке.Нет больше таких.И -тем не менее -он ничтожество-как личность. Его антипод -Майлс Девис. Одухотворенность.
mike patton brings soul to the table, granted he might be nerdier and possibly more obsessive/psychotic/compulsive but alot of the vocal antics and the energy he puts in reminds me of this stuff. i havent seen him dance as well as james brown tho. fuck dam i love browns moves its almost nervous the speed at which he moves
no mutha fucker is going to take him out , nobody !!!!!!

@C13AI I totally agree with you. However, if you are looking for filthy modern music check out the band Sleigh Bells, they are deafeningly loud and one of the dirtiest sounding bands I've heard in a long time.
SaneLunacy 1 year ago
@SaneLunacy Just listened to some of their stuff. I think you should check out a few other bands if you like stuff like Sleigh Bells Deerhoof (the Perfect Me) & My Gold Mask (Violet Eyes) to name 2.

Bring back this kind of quality.
eric44267 1 year ago 2
@eric44267 Not everyone else. There are a number of rap artist and groups that are more soulful, and meaningful than public enemy! They may not be at the media forefront, making the millions of dollars that the 50 cent and Jay Z's are making but they are appreciated fans world wide who seek them out and listen. The James Brown's of this world evolved during times of great oppression and hardship and were innovators, to replicate something as deep as that would have to take a drastic travesty

@eric44267 these cats have it too good these days, theres no real struggle
lovechyl 1 year ago

When you reach the top of any art, the only way you can go is down.....
palmares77 1 year ago
@palmares77 I FEEL YOU! I asked myself the same thing and I also asked myself how is it that an artist of this,as you say,"generation of Hip Hop/Pop-RB" can claim ICON status in 10 years with an average of 3 albums(if they're lucky) and in those 3 maybe 5 hits songs (songs created from no real life experience or creative poetic inspiration or composing talent) that sound like they were written after taking a dump & then sprinkled with some premium-cheeeezy-wack 2part harmony vocals...WTF!!!!!

mike patton brings soul to the table, granted he might be nerdier and possibly more obsessive/psychotic/compulsive but alot of the vocal antics and the energy he puts in reminds me of this stuff. i havent seen him dance as well as james brown tho. fuck dam i love browns moves its almost nervous the speed at which he moves
