This video looks like it was taken with an ROV (with a poorly matched lighting and camera system BTW), NOT from a diver. And why does the ROV have a microphone?! What do they expect to hear on the audio? Voices? Whales?!
@hooksman60 There was a documentary done in the 80s. On a freighter that went down in the 50s, the divers found a femur and ankle still in a sneaker at the base of a stairwell. There is likely nothing but skeletal remains in their clothing.
Yeah, there is 29 men down there still. Some might be inside or nearby. I know of one of the men that was found not too far off the bow, lying in the mud. Then never ID'ed him as it is a grave site. Rightfully so, he wasn't found until 1994 or so. Enough is enough. Wouldn't do any good to deal with it now. Let the families have closure. May they Rest in Peace!

I hate those people who said " oh, my husband went down on this ship so now the people who possibly want to find his body cant dive on the ship and can never figure out how it sank cause its his grave." its stupid.
This wreck is not off limits but it does require an archaeological license from the Ontario Ministry of Culture to go there. Unedited video footage of the Fitz is not sanctimonious.
@bnodurft Actually The Fitz IS off limits as of October of '09. I seen a Documentary about it on The History Channel the fine for Diving the Fitz is astronomical.
@ShadowGuardian3337 Go to the continuouswave online forum about side scan sonar imaging of the Fitz. There you will find links to the current Canadian law regarding access to the Fitz and also a discussion about whether she lies in Canadian or U.S. waters. Type in NO COMMERCIAL DIVES ALLOWED ON FITZGERALD in your search engine for another report about the topic.
Why should this wreck be so sacred and off limits? People died on many WW 2 ships, The Titanic, The Andrea Doria, etc etc....and dives still happen on them? Why be so sanctimonious about this ship?
@YTbob721 wrong! international waters are all of 1330 feet deep no one can dive that deep.2) it was white fish point in the bay.3) i have been over the fitz 100's of times.4) most wreaks happen in the straits of mackinaw as its a high wind bad seas shipping lane.5) fuckin Canadians always lookin for some Reconstruction they dont deserve, sick of you guys and your uneducated guess..ohh by the way it was a rouge wave that took her..so you may be accurate on that one at least
The Fitz lies on the international boundary. She is officially in Canadian waters. However, there was a lawsuit between competing explorers that included argument that part of the Fitz lies in U.S. water and the other part lies in Canadian water. This video footage was shot during dives under an archaeological license issued to Canadian explorer Joe MacInnis. See the You Tube video, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald: Historical Documents” for more info.
what you think i lie..lol..reread what i have wrote there i even said the bay its in,i live on lake Mich waters and superior water all the way up to ice in the bays,i dont care what some document says, its land marked i have been over it many many times since i can remember..documents aint ever true and check the age of this document.and have you ever even been near it or just read about it.little white fish bay is where she lies from a rouge wave, took um forever to realize it was a rouge at that
Uneducated? By your spelling, your a monument to what America has become today. This is not the time nor place for this arrogant arguement. It's on the Canadian side. Why are you so angry? It's not their fault, and it's not our fault. It's not like we put the wreck in a pickup and trucked' her across the border. Eh?
The video was made during the attempt to retrieve the bell for the family of the deceased. It was intended to be a record of the wreck, and a last attempt to figure out exactly what happened before the wreck was declared off limits. Now, it is illegal to dive there.
I don't know about that. I feel like there are too many things out there that cannot be explained away (personal experience included). But when I watched the video just now I don't see anything because the camera is messed up at the end where it wasn't 10 months ago. Plus I'm not the only one in my house that saw it.
Why was this vide cut short? You can hear the guy at the end "What was that"? Seems like some parts are missing :P

dont understand why it is illeagle to dive on the fitzgerald is there some sort of conspiracy they are trying to hide?
Chucknorristothemaxx 1 year ago
@Chucknorristothemaxx
No, no conspiracy.
If you want a conspiracy go try to find out who killed Bobby Fuller, 'cause you won't find one here.
She's been deemed a watery grave, in recent years, making any further exploration of her akin to disturbing a grave yard.

@MrHobiecat The video was obtained by personnel inside Harbor Branch Oceanographic's submersible, the Clelia.
bnodurft 1 year ago
@bnodurft Ok, cool - that makes more sense for 16 years ago... now you can buy an ROV with HD video that will go down 1000 feet for about $50k.

I heard the bodies are still intact because the water is ice cold and fresh water.

@SuperDog124 That body was determined to be likely not from the Fitz. The uniform it was in was too deteriorated.

I bet James Cameron's bots could do wonders in the Fitz. They got tons of info on the Titanic and the Bismarck.

It's about 1:04 when you can see the ghost with his arms out. He in the left window and turned to his side.

I think who made this video should leave the Fitz alone. It is interesting but that is basically a sunken cemetery.

that would be a lonely place to haunt.
I would leave it and go fuck with the divers when they were in bed at night.
