This video looks like it was taken with an ROV (with a poorly matched lighting and camera system BTW), NOT from a diver. And why does the ROV have a microphone?! What do they expect to hear on the audio? Voices? Whales?!

@hooksman60 There was a documentary done in the 80s. On a freighter that went down in the 50s, the divers found a femur and ankle still in a sneaker at the base of a stairwell. There is likely nothing but skeletal remains in their clothing.

Yeah, there is 29 men down there still. Some might be inside or nearby. I know of one of the men that was found not too far off the bow, lying in the mud. Then never ID'ed him as it is a grave site. Rightfully so, he wasn't found until 1994 or so. Enough is enough. Wouldn't do any good to deal with it now. Let the families have closure. May they Rest in Peace!

@SuperDog124 That body was determined to be likely not from the Fitz. The uniform it was in was too deteriorated.

This wreck is not off limits but it does require an archaeological license from the Ontario Ministry of Culture to go there. Unedited video footage of the Fitz is not sanctimonious.

@bnodurft Actually The Fitz IS off limits as of October of  '09. I seen a Documentary about it on The History Channel the fine for Diving the Fitz is astronomical.

Why should this wreck be so sacred and off limits? People died on many WW 2 ships, The Titanic, The Andrea Doria, etc etc....and dives still happen on them? Why be so sanctimonious about this ship?

@YTbob721 wrong! international waters are all of 1330 feet deep no one can dive that deep.2) it was white fish point in the bay.3) i have been over the fitz 100's of times.4) most wreaks happen in the straits of mackinaw as its a high wind bad seas shipping lane.5) fuckin Canadians always lookin for some Reconstruction they dont deserve,sick of you guys and your uneducated guess..ohh by the way it was a rouge wave that took her..so you may be accurate on that one at least

The Fitz lies on the international boundary. She is officially in Canadian waters. However, there was a lawsuit between competing explorers that included argument that part of the Fitz lies in U.S. water and the other part lies in Canadian water. This video footage was shot during dives under an archaeological license issued to Canadian explorer Joe MacInnis. The video was made during the attempt to retrieve the bell for the family of the deceased. It was intended to be a record of the wreck, and a last attempt to figure out exactly what happened before the wreck was declared off limits. Now, it is illegal to dive there.

I don't know about that. I feel like there are too many things out there that cannot be explained away (personal experience included). But when I watched the video just now I don't see anything because the camera is messed up at the end where it wasn't 10 months ago. Plus I'm not the only one in my house that saw it.
