I bought the cut outs of these CDs, NGD and Sparkle in the Rain around 1991.. barely got them before they weren't available.. awesome remastered copies are available now of all the 80's albums.. Its a great song. Reminds me of when I was 12 and playing the cassette tapes.. :)
ive only just turned 20 and ive been listening to this band for over 10 years, and proud to say these guys were my 1st ever concert back in 01 or 02, one of the greatest bands back in the 80's and still today.
I saw Simple Minds live in NYC in the 1980s - on a warm summer evening, outside at the west side piers - next to the tourist ship The Intrepid. I attended my share of U2 concerts back then, too. But Simple Minds was and will always be total magic, magnificent and in a class of their own. I somehow knew this back then.. How can this music be so brilliant and beautiful and barely anyone (that I knew at least) was listening? Strange how this made the music more special - still does.
No one will ever take those years away from me, fond memories love all there tracks. Wish they were still about I'd be first to buy a ticket to there tour. Awesome band!
This song is perfect, plain and simple. I recently looked at my iPods top 25 played and this dominates. These guys are soo underrated. This song still sounds like it should have been born 200 years from now. Speaks volumes.
@glasshouse1111 yep - Live in Verona - forget the main dvd - its rubbish, but go to the Extra's this whole concert from Newcastle is on there ! Awesome !
extremamente perfeita a performance de Jim Kerr!! E também de Charles Burchill na Guitarra!! Mel Gaynor na Bateria!! Impressionante!! Não é comum encontrar uma banda de rock com qualidade nos dias de hoje!!! O vídeo mostra os membros da banda ainda muito jovens!! E hoje eles ainda mostram disposição para trabalhar na seara musical!!
Thanks for that presentation!! Simple Minds fan club Brazil!!
Thanks truckertaff. Was at this concert. Young and impressionable but still the best concert I've ever been to. Can see me in the balcony. It really was new and golden.
Think I agree with you all. I grew up in the 80'ths. Best bands ever! Simple Minds was a favourite one of them and I also miss that kind of music. The music today is making covers or 'empty' music...
supereightspecial - if you are going to make a wanky comment like that then back up your superficial comment. At least you recognise that the music was heaven sent. But there is nothing "uncool" about Simple Minds circa 1982.
Oh and are you cool? And is other music you like? I doubt it....
The MINDS were known as being one of the coolest bands around this time.. So I don't know what you mean. And have never been known as being an uncool band... So you've lost me.
Um, I have this song favourited and own the record it came from. The music here is sensational, I wouldn't even begin to claim otherwise. I just mean that they look a bit naff on stage - say in comparison to The Clash, for example.
Why are you guys being so defensive? And why do you feel the need to type the MINDS in capital letters as if it affords your comments any added gravity. lol.
Jeez! Awesome post - I have this exact recording on a b-side somewhere.... it was my favourite, so cool to now see what the performance looked like! Thanks!

It must be fate that I was a music mad fifteen old when this came out, the first album I ever bought and still the best by a mile. The Killers and Coldplay are very good but this is on another planet in comparison, come on you hoodies on here listen to some proper music lol
I bought the album New Gold Dream back in 1982 around when it was released, and I must say that to this very day it is still one of the best albums I have ever heard. If you haven't got this album yet, do yourself a favor and get it.
Well, Like Miguel said, Jim Kerr and other members of the Simple Minds wear the same cloth in this clip as Duran Duran´s Simon Lebon at Planet Earth!!! Miguel, you´ve reason!! The Hair of Jim, The Clothes of Jim, and the same way to dance is really the same to the Simon. But is so excellent video clip as the Planet Earth!!!
es una de las canciones que mas me gusta de simple minds, agregar que tocan y el canta muy bien. Su estilo de ropa es bien New Wave parecido en el video de Duran Duran - Planet Earth.
Why does not put Simple Minds in the next Rock in Rio at Brazil!!! Great Band!!! Jim Kerr and Charles Burchill are an amazing musicians!! What a Concert!!
Porra, quero o Simple Minds no próximo Rock in Rio Brasil, aqui mesmo no Rio de Janeiro,e Duran Duran Também!!!!!!!!! Que venham Jim Kerr, Simon LeBon!!!
